SUMMER IS THE PERFECT TIME TO EXPLORE WATERWAYS

T

here’s something about the combination of water and summer that has a magical effect on our mood. In Muskoka, where every season presents breathtaking views and endless possibilities for relaxing and recreating, NOW is the ideal time to appreciate all this beloved area has to offer. And one of the best things it has to offer is The Waterways of Muskoka – Alliance Homes’ community on the Muskoka River in Bracebridge. Alliance is developing the property with Lakewood Beach Properties Ltd. (a wholly owned subsidiary of Teracorp), and the partners will soon open a beautiful model townhome to showcase what life is like in these idyllic surroundings. Purchasers can select from a collection of freehold bungalows and bungalowwith-loft townhome designs with doublecar garages. This type of new housing is

rare in the area. In fact, The Waterways is among the first new home communities in Ontario to offer townhome bungalows with two-car garages. Purchasers tend to be empty-nesters, retirees and semi-retired folks who love nature and water. Those who own two vehicles want to keep them, so the scenario is perfect. The homes are adjacent to Annie Williams Park on the river, where homeowners can walk dogs and take their grandchildren to play and swim. The community is well under construction, and all of the roads and site services are complete. Your lifestyle in this lovely neighbourhood even comes complete with neighbours - more than one-third of the homes are built and occupied! Residents appreciate the ability to live in more compact homes than they had previously. They also love having a condominium component that covers lawn-mowing and snow-clearing.

This affords them more time to enjoy their spectacular location and to lock the door and travel south in winter without worry.” Best of all, residents can walk to downtown Bracebridge to shop, enjoy a glass of wine by the riverside and access the many historical buildings in town. Locally, there are more than 22 waterfalls, and plenty of opportunities for kayaking and canoeing. Lake Muskoka (one of the “Big Three” along with Lakes Joseph and Rosseau) is just a 40-minute boat ride from The Waterways’ 300 feet of waterfront, which will eventually include a common area with boat docking. Teracorp is involved in many different businesses, including the branding, marketing and approvals processes in lowrise and high-rise real estate – everything to the point of construction. The firm’s principals are delighted to partner with Alliance Homes, one of Ontario’s premier

Geranium Homes breaks ground in Stouffville! By Dorothea Helms

T

he day was gorgeous, the atmosphere exciting. In July, Geranium Homes and Pace Credit Union held the groundbreaking celebration for PACE on Main Condos, and the turnout was fabulous! This 5-storey mid-rise, boutique-style residence encompassing just 67 suites is nearly 70 per cent sold. “We’ve been building homes in Stouffville for nearly nine years now,” said Geranium President Boaz Feiner. “PACE on Main adds another housing option in the community. The demand is high for carefree condominium living within walking distance to amenities.” The special event was attended by Whitchurch-Stouffville Mayor Justin Altman, Councillors, Town staff, consultants and suite homeowners. Councillor Hugo Kroon praised Geranium Homes for its pivotal role in ushering in a new chapter in the history of Stouffville’s downtown, and Councillor Ken Ferdinands credited Geranium with “courage, creativity and imagination.” Dan Coldwell, Chief Marketing and Communications Relations Officer for PACE Credit Union, referred to Geranium as “a class act.” PACE Credit Union, which previously occupied a portion of the site, will operate in the ground floor of the new building. Purchaser Janice Anderson was there with her granddaughter Claire. “My daughter and her family live just up the street,” Janice said. “I’m a widow now, and I want to move from Markham to be closer to them.” Alexandra and Apostolos Maniatis also have children and grandchildren living in Stouffville. They are ready to say good-bye to the maintenance involvedinkeepinguptheirlargeScarborough home. “We like the village atmosphere

here,” Apostolos said. “Life will be more laid back.” Location is also the reason Peter Vowles and Colleen Holland chose PACE on Main. They will move from a large townhome in Aurora. “We’ve always liked Stouffville,” Colleen said, “so when we saw the ad in the paper, we jumped at the chance to own.” Lesley O’Connor of Gallo Real Estate bought a suite as well. Now in partnership with her daughter, Kimberly Ann O’Connor, Lesley will live at PACE on Main. “This condominium is great. Stouffville residents looking for less maintenance can stay in the town they love.” Stouffville resident Debora Rankin bought a suite for her mother, who currently lives at Brimley and St. Clair. “I have a high regard for Geranium Homes,” Debora said. “They use quality materials and do top-notch work.” Another purchaser I interviewed bought a suite as an investment. She used to live in Stouffville and rents out the home she still owns. A few months ago, she drove in to visit her tenant, saw the PACE on Main sign and said, “I fell in love with the property.” Occupancy is slated for November 2017. Amenities include an outdoor terrace with a barbecue area and The Main Street Lounge, featuring a kitchen, bar, fireplaces and billiards table. Suite features include balconies, nine-foot ceilings, engineered hardwood flooring, granite countertops and stainless steel kitchen appliances. Remaining suites range from 672 to 1,368 square feet. Prices start at $349,900 and include an underground parking space. The Sales Centre is at 184 Glad Park Road, (north of Main Street and west of Ninth Line). Call 905-591-1071 or visit Paceonmain.com.
