The Gals at the Travel Blog Exchange 2012

T

he Vacation Gals a multi-award winning blog run by Beth Blair, Kara Williams and Jennifer Miner–all who, of course, enjoy traveling. Beth Blair–author and one third of this trio–gives us a glimpse into how she travels. How would you describe thevacationgals.com? The three of us work as freelance writers and love sharing our personal travel experiences on the blog. We have six kids between us and enjoy talking up our favorite family destinations as well as girlfriend and romantic getaways. We also cover awesome travel gear, the latest travel news and helpful travel tips. When did you get the travel bug? My entire life I wanted to hop on a plane. They were always flying over my house. I think I lived under a New Orleans flight path. However, I had to settle with touring the byways of Louisiana taking weekend trips to Biloxi and Pensacola with my four siblings and parents. In hindsight, we had some pretty great regional excursions.

Where did your last trip take you? From fall 2011 through spring 2012 I returned to the airlines as a flight attendant, so my travels took me all across the United States and Canada. The job kept me so busy there wasn’t any time for personal travel. However, this past June I did speak about the world of freelance writing at the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Travel & Tourism Conference in Columbus, Ohio (what a fun and friendly city) and attended Travel Blog Exchange Conference (TBEX) in Keystone, Colorado. I lived in the Rockies for many years and still yearn to move back. As for one destination, last summer my family had the road trips of a lifetime. First we went to western Montana and stayed a week at the all-inclusive Flathead Lake Lodge, a week-long all inclusive dude ranch. My kids ask weekly when we’re going back. We did take a day to visit Glacier National Park and hike a little. Why did you pick this/these location(s)? Over the years Montana is one place that always comes up in conversation as a “must visit” so it wasn’t a difficult decision.
