MAN FALLS 80FT FROM BALCONY IN WESTFIELD Shoppers got a shock last week when a man plunged 80ft from a balcony at Westfield Stratford City, landing on and injuring a passer-by. Both men were taken to the Royal London Hospital with serious injuries. They were kept in overnight. Witnesses told how a man was dangling by his hands and shouting before falling, landing on a pedestrian. One Twitter user posted: “Just saw a dude jump to commit suicide.” A Met spokesman said there were not believed to be any suspicious circumstances.

It’s funny to be here, in this very nice zoo This quote isn’t the only ‘funny’ thing about pianist Richard Clayderman’s appearance at London Zoo last week, where he played for a pair of Galapagos tortoises in the hope it would encourage them to mate. It didn’t

Londoners are most healthy People in the capital have the best diets of everyone in Britain Londoners have the best diets in Britain, but spend much more on housing, new official figures show. The capital is the only region in England where fewer than 100g of sweets and chocolates are consumed per person each week, according to the Office for National Statistics. In fact, Londoners come the closest in the country to hitting the five-a-day target for fruit and veg, with 1188g of vegetables and 1337g of fruit eaten weekly per person. So if anyone has a go at you for ordering a wanky organic veg box, you can tell them it’s because you’re an uberhealthy cosmopolitan. According to the ONS survey: “Regions that contained households with lower

incomes spent less on fresh produce ... and spent more on less healthy foods such as cakes, buns and biscuits, when compared with other English regions. “The opposite is true for regions with households that had higher incomes such as London, where households spent more on fresh fruit and vegetables.” However, perhaps unsurprisingly, Londoners spend more on going out to eat than any other region, and have to splash more cash on housing and public transport than other Brits. The study showed that housing costs suck up 15.9 per cent of household budgets in London, compared with a national average of 12.8 per cent. Say it with us: humph.
