TNT Magazine was established in 1983 as a black-and-white weekly news-sheet – pioneering free distribution in the UK. The magazine originally had a huge backpacker following, with ʻfresh off the boatersʼ from Australia, New Zealand and South Africa making a beeline for it as soon as they landed in the UK. However, as the traveller market has become increasingly sophisticated – now more ʻflashpackerʼ than backpacker – the magazine has seen its reader demographic change to incorporate a more mature, higher-earning, longer-staying, and more career-minded audience.
