ABOUT THE EDITORS Kate McTaggart is the Co-Founder of The Lifestyle Concierge, with Business Partner, Mark Garlick. She holds a BSc. In Sports Science and is a Pilates Expert, all of which she uniquely integrates into her day-today life as well as those of her clients. Workout To Enjoy A Guilt-Free Holiday & Feel Slimmer After Your Holiday By Mark Garlick

EVERYBODY loves going on holiday but no one likes coming back from holiday. The issue that I have seen time and time again is that most people tend to over indulge on their holiday and come back feeling like they have packed on a few pounds. The added indulgent calorie intake leaves you feeling bloated and often low on energy. The key to avoiding that is to follow my super simple workout plan for when you are on holiday and be able to indulge and enjoy yourself without feeling like you are putting on weight or digressing in your strength and fitness.

Guilt-Free Holiday Workout (GFHW)

Aim to do the GFHW 3 times per week. It does not require any gym equipment, simply your body and a sprinkle of enthusiasm. The great thing about this workout is it will only take up between 20 – 25 minutes of your time. Perform each exercise one after the other and time your self. Repeat routine twice.

WARM UP

Straight legged walkouts 15 reps

Post Holiday Workout To Beat The ‘After Effect’ Of An Indulgent Holiday By Mark Garlick

Now, I totally understand those holidays you go on and come back feeling heavier and some how more lethargic and tired. We all need a holiday where we totally relax and let go of all our ‘rules’ about nutrition and working out, myself included! We have had several emails in the last few days about what to do when you get back and don’t feel motivated. Here are my tips to help you get back into your routine and get your body back into shape: • Follow my super quick workout below. Aim to do it 3 or 4 times per week to start. • Workout with a friend – it will take your mind off the fact that you are exercising and you won’t want to cancel your friend so you are more likely to do it. • Weigh yourself or take photos – this is a great way to keep track of your progress and motivate you to keep going. • Follow a 7-day Detox plan to kick-start your metabolism and get rid of any built up toxins.

WARM UP

LIFE LESSONS

YOU SHOULD PRACTICE DAILY 01 Take time to appreciate

Often, we are so busy running around doing things that we never stop to appreciate what we have and how blessed we actually are to be alive. It may sound ‘woo-woo’, but the more you focus on the good in your life, the more good you will find and the better you will feel. Everyday, I either list 10 things in my life that I am really grateful for. Before you know it, your life won’t look all that bad! Try not to complain for one full day, no complaining verbally or mentally. Instead replace your complaining thoughts with thoughts of gratitude.

02 Breathe deeply

I have a quote (inspired by my Dad) in my house that I try live by. It says ‘Breathe deeply, live slowly and always tread boldly.’ I told a client of mine once that I was struggling to run without getting distracted and she told me to stop focusing on the pain of the run and instead to count my breathes. 4 counts in, 4 count hold and 4 counts out. You would be surprised how challenging it is but also how effective it is. When you find yourself in a difficult situation, slow down and count your breaths… Live slowly and enjoy it.

03 Tread Boldly

At the bottom of every email or text I get from my Dad, he always ends with ‘tread boldly’. What he means is be brave, find your courage to keep going, live your life in a big way and never back out because of fear. Tread boldly in everything you do, everyday. If you are going to do something no matter how big or small, be brave and own that decision.

04 Stop living in the future

All you have is this moment and in reality, there is no such thing as the future, simply this one beautiful moment you have. Some of the major stresses we take on are about the future, what if this happens or what if that happens and majority of the time they never happen. Don’t get me wrong, sometimes they do but trust that if it does happen, you will be ready to deal with it then and there, not 6 weeks before. Try keep your mind in this moment and when you do manage to, you open your eyes and heart to a whole new way of living!

05 Tread Boldly

All you have is this moment and in reality, there is no such thing as the future, simply this one beautiful moment you have. P.S. They are so easy to make, anyone would think you spent ages in the kitchen making them!

Spiced Nuts and Seeds Mix 3 cups whole nuts with 1/4 cup each flaxseeds, quinoa, and sunflower seeds. In a separate bowl, whisk 2 egg whites with 2 tablespoons honey, 1 1/2 teaspoons coarse salt, and 1/4 teaspoon each cayenne, cumin, and cinnamon. Toss with nut mix. Spread in a single layer on a baking sheet; bake at 325 degrees until dry, stirring occasionally, about 30 minutes. Scrape from pan while cooling, to avoid sticking. Makes 16 servings (178 calories each).

Chocolate Avocado Truffles Pit 1 ripe avocado and mash the flesh until completely smooth. Melt 5 oz. dark chocolate on the stove. Once melted, stir in the mashed avocado, 2 tbsp. brown sugar, ¼ tsp. vanilla extract, tiny pinch of salt, and 1½ tbsp. of the cocoa powder until thoroughly combined. Place the truffle mixture into the fridge for 30-40 minutes and let cool until partially set. Use a tablespoon to dollop out the truffles and form balls with your hands. Roll in 1 tbsp. of cocoa powder. Makes 20 servings (59 calories each) >

Strawberry Cheesecake Bites Mix together 4 oz. reduced fat cream cheese, 1 tsp. lemon juice, ½ tsp. vanilla extract, and 4 tbsp. powdered sugar until smooth. Core 15 cold strawberries with a small knife. Use a teaspoon to joyfully stuff the cream cheese mixture in. If you want to make them look a little prettier then simply top with crumbled graham cracker pieces Makes 15 servings (33 calories each)

Crispy Kale Chips Preheat oven to 300 degrees F. Wash 1 large bunch of kale, remove the inner rib or stem, and dry thoroughly. Put the kale pieces in a gallon plastic baggie and add 1 tbsp. olive oil. Shake until each piece has a coating of oil. Arrange the kale in a single layer on a large baking sheet lined with parchment paper and sprinkle with sea salt. Use a bit less than you think you need because the kale shrinks and the salt intensifies. Bake for about 20 minutes, until the kale is crisp and slightly browned. Makes 3 servings (110 calories in total)

5 Reasons Why You Should Be Eating Organic Foods Research from several studies worldwide has consistently shown that organic food has more nutrients than conventional fruits and vegetables, including more antioxidants, vitamins and minerals. Nine times out of 10 the excuse I hear people give when asked why they choose not to eat organic is: “It’s too expensive.” These days I counter that with: “So is cancer.” Processed foods, by some estimates, make up around 70% of the average person’s diet. And all processed food contains genetically modified ingredients, which have never been proven safe for human consumption. 1. Organic Food Isn’t Genetically Modified Genetically modified foods are grown from seeds manufactured by chemical companies such as Bayer and Monsanto. The foods that grow from the GM seeds have been engineered to produce their own pesticides on the basis that they reduce weeds and the number of pests. GM foods contribute to diseases such as Type 2 diabetes, Alzheimer’s, arthritis, fibromyalgia, headaches, heart disease, and cancer. By eating organic, you stop contributing to disease and will begin to repair any damage to your body’s cells and brain function. This will also mean you pick up fewer colds, flu, viruses and bacterial infections.

CREATING YOUR MAGNIFICENT LOVE

As a love and passion expert, I hear from people every day who need help with their relationship challenges. They are seldom at a point where they are considering they can get to a magnificent love; they would just like it to be better than it is right now. Well there are ways to know, but honestly, when people first come to ME, they are not at the point where they can clearly make that determination… yet. I see it every day. When you get stuck in blaming your partner, is when the pain comes into your intimate relationship. When you feel powerless. When you feel at the whim of your partner. Stacie’s gorgeous pictures from her first Solo Show held in New York City in March 2014 – The Princess Fallacy. Due to popular demand Stacie was asked to do it again in July 2014. When I began training Stacie 3 years ago, I knew 2 things straight away: 1. She was literally born to be on stage. 2. We’d become friends and in a way she would be my teacher for many things in life.

As an actress, it’s important to always look your best, what are your top tips? I think the best accessory for any occasion is confidence. Wear something YOU feel fabulous in. Don’t try to wear the latest trend just because everyone else is wearing it. If you are at a party and constantly pulling your skirt down or adjusting your top uncomfortably, you’re not going to be your best self. The woman should always wear the outfit, not the other way around.

If you were to give your younger self; 3 life lessons of advice, what would they be? 1. Nobody will fight harder for you than YOU. 2. Meditate. At least once a day. Develop a practice to keep yourself grounded and conscious when times get tough. 3. Work hard, but never stop playing hard. Always stay a child at heart.

Who do you aspire to be and what kind of life do Stacie has an aura about her, a kindness and love you want to lead? that draws you in whether you know her or not. I I aspire to be an artist who can inspire, educate, asked her to grace the cover of our magazine, not and create change in society. How do you deal with the unpredictability of your work? One of the biggest challenges of being an actress is the time when you are out of work and looking for the next gig, which really is a good portion of our lives. I think the secret for anyone struggling with unpredictable-survival is not having your work be what defines you. Once I found happiness and wholeness in the life I lead outside of my career, auditioning and looking for work; it became much >
