General Information
The Sale will commence at 12 noon. The sale is held under the auspices of the British Charollais Sheep Society and all sheep will be sold subject to the Rules and Conditions of the Society. Copies are available from the Society or Auctioneers and will be displayed at the sale. All sheep will be sold in guineas (105 pence) and strictly in catalogue order. All sheep to be sold singly.
HEALTH
The sheep are from Maedi Visna Accredited flocks registered with the SAC Sheep & Goat Health Scheme. Most flocks are scrapie monitored.
INSPECTION All sheep will have been subject to inspection by an official Society Inspector.
SCANNING RESULTS All ewes will have been scanned and the results are printed
in the catalogue. This in no way guarantees the number of lambs at birth. If any female sheep which is described in the catalogue or at the time of sale as being “scanned in lamb” or in lamb proves not to have been in lamb at the time of sale and within 7 days after the day of sale the Purchaser gives written notice to the auctioneers of his intention to return the animal supported by a veterinary surgeon’s certificate that such sheep has proved not to have been in lamb then the purchaser may return such sheep to the vendor.
PEDIGREE CERTIFICATES & SCRAPIE GENOTYPE CERTIFICATES Pedigree Certificates will be available at the Auction Mart Office on the day of the sale, together with Scrapie Genotype Certificates. All sheep in the sale are Full Pedigree Registered.

CF72 8LP Tel : 01443 224253 I would like to welcome you all once again to our annual female sale at Builth Wells, and also the return of Arwyn Thomas as a vendor after a three year absence. I am sure the stock will be of the highest quality as always. It is always pleasing to see stock going on to do well for other people. This year Ifan Hughes (Eithinog) had Reserve Champion at the Royal Welsh with his ewe lamb. She was out of a Castellau ewe and sired by a Castellau ram. Having only attended one show this year – The Vale of Glamorgan, we won Interbreed Champion for the 5th year in succession, and Interbreed Group for the 4th year in a row. We won the Championship with My Fair Lady who is full sister to Lady Gaga sold for the top price of 2,600gns to Janet Davies (Gatdora). She was joined by Lord of the Manor and 1st prize ewe lamb to win the group Championship. 12TZ000431 My Fair Lady At Builth Wells Main Sale we won 2nd prize in the Signet recorded class, 2nd prize in the January lamb class and 1st prize large pen of lambs sold to 1,250gns and 1,050gns. This year sees the first yearling ewes to be offered for sale by Logie Durno Kracked-It, purchased for 10,800gns, a record price at Worcester Premier. All ewes have been vaccinated for Schmallenberg on 12th June and also with Enzovac.

Scrapie Genotype ARR/ARR Lord of the Manor was Reserve Champion, Interbreed Pairs and Group Champion at the Royal Welsh 2011. His progeny won the Penywern Trophy at Worcester in 2012 and sold up to 2,000gns for 2nd prize Signet recorded lamb. In 2013 he sired the 2nd prize ram lamb at the Royal Welsh, who had an eye muscle of 41mm. His index has risen again this year to 373 (Top 10%). Loanhead Liberator 11WNC03170 Scrapie Genotype ARR/ARR Liberator was purchased for his extreme gigot shape and style. He is maternal brother to Logie Durno I’m Yer Man – Interbreed Champion at the Royal Highland and Great Yorkshire, Liberator sired the 1st prize ram lamb at Builth I and also the winning ram lamb and ewe lamb at Vale of Glamorgan. He has put shape into his lambs and his index has risen to 369 (Top 10%).
Castellau Nockout 13TZ00712 Scrapie Genotype ARR/ARR Nockout is a big powerful ram by Mortimer Jumbo – top price of 4,200gns at Builth 2010. His dam is Flashy Lady, Champion of Champions Royal Welsh 2006. With the power of Jumbo and the style of Flashy Lady, I am sure he will do well. He had a scan weight of 74.5kg and a 37.5mm muscle scan. He has an index of 322 (Top 25%).

Soni was 1st Breed Champion, Interbreed Champion, also in the Interbreed Group of Three at North Somerset Show. All ewes have been vaccinated with Toxovax & Bovilis SBV against Schmallenberg and scanned in lamb to their A.I. date of 9th July or service date stated and ran with Elmwick Nickname son of Elmwick Mr McGregor 13DQ00667 after or otherwise stated.

A few personal health problems has prompted me to offer for sale all of the pedigree flock scanned in lamb on the 9th September. This will leave me with a few late lambers and fourteen embryos, from my old favourite , ZDG7040, which have already been transferred in to crossbred recipients. I will also have a dozen or so of this year’s ewe lambs which I hope to sell next year.

We stated that all females would be sold but with the proviso that 26 frozen embryos would be retained to form the foundation for a new flock after taking some time out. In the end all females were sold (bar 2 ewes that the inspector deemed unfit for sale) and we were thrilled with the support that we received from our fellow breeders in a record breaking day. Although sad to lose our Arjane prefix we have reformed after a 12 month break as Arbryn with flock genetics based on lambing our frozen embryos and a few select female purchases. Our numbers are not many but I am determined to keep the quality high and we do have a few exceptional females on offer at this sale.

Arbryn Service Sires WNC03170 Loanhead Liberator - purchased in partnership with Tim Prichard he has done a great job in his first year. His ewe lambs are as good a group as I have bred with great heads and solid confirmation. I am also pleased with his ram lambs with a son Arbryn Nugget selling for 2,600 gns at this years premier sale. Nuggets full brother WRF03201 is one of the best handling sheep I have bred & I was delighted that he won 1st prize Ram Lamb at this years Royal Welsh. Arbryn Nugget sold at Premier for ÂŁ2,600gns.
13XRL00159 Shamrock Northern Star - Ist prize ram lamb at the Great Yorkshire show. A very smart eye catching lamb with tremendous skin, hard hind-quarter and he excels on his front & back feet .After lengthy negotiations I aquired him from Cyril Dougherty & he has worked well in his first season. He is a son of Crogham Java who in turn was bred from Hannibal’s full sister. Northern Star at the Great Yorkshire Show.
All ewes have been vaccinated for Schmallenberg pre tupping.
