LIFELINES

“There is an everyday heroism, made up of gestures of sharing, big or small, which build up an authentic culture of life… Part of this daily heroism is also the silent but effective and eloquent witness of all those ‘brave mothers who devote themselves to their own family without reserve, who suffer in giving birth to their children and who are ready to make any effort, to face any sacrifice, in order to pass on to them the best of themselves’… We thank you, heroic mothers, for your invincible love! We thank you for your intrepid trust in God and in his love. We thank you for the sacrifice of your life” (The Gospel of Life 86).

Deacon’s NOTE

Palm Sunday carries Christ toward the ul mate sacrifice of his life on the cross, where by his sacrifice we are healed! Its central message is that God sees us and loves what he sees. The only requirement from us is that we welcome him and his peace, and exercise faith in his ul mate healing — on earth or in heaven.

Are we exemplifying the Palm Sunday promise to a watching world? Not only can we have confidence because of Christ’s provision for our lives, but we can emulate his characteris cs, especially in a crisis to influence others. People are watching, and more than ever, they need to see our strong, spiritual faith.

Happy Palm Sunday! God Bless.

How like Simon of Cyrene can you help to carry the crosses of our sisters and brothers in your local community and around the world? Visit crsricebowl.org/holy-week to learn more.

The Rice Bowl Collection is the second collection on Holy Thursday. You can place your envelopes in the collection any time.

GOOD FRIDAY COLLECTION

Pope Francis has asked our parish to support the Pontifical Good Friday Collection, which helps Christians in the Holy Land. Your support helps the church minister in parishes, provide Catholic schools and offer religious education. The Pontifical Good Friday Collection also helps to preserve the sacred shrines. The pandemic hit particularly hard the Christians in the Holy Land. Most of them depend on pilgrimages to work. In these times of crisis, the Pontifical Good Friday Collection is also necessary to meet the basic needs of the People of God still living in this Land where the Church was born. When you contribute to the Pontifical Good Friday Collection, you become an instrument of peace and join with Catholics around the world in solidarity with the Church in the Holy Land. PLEASE BE GENEROUS! For more information about Christians in the Holy Land, visit www.myfranciscan.org/good-friday.
