The old Murray Complex site in Wilkes-Barre has seen no activity in years, after the Siniawa organization planned to develop it as residential and retail space.

City-based Siniawa 16, LP – was touting a $22 million plan to transform a centuryold warehouse, the site of the former Murray’s Inn on Pennsylvania Avenue, into residential and retail space. Former county commissioners approved the first assistance – a $1 million, low-interest community development loan to partially fund construction. Siniawa representatives told county officials the construction of 60 condominiums, two restaurants with courtyards and 50,000-60,000 square feet of retail space

WILKES-BARRE – The developer of the Murray complex would have to start from scratch to obtain $4.7 million in government funding toward the project because the promised money was canceled due to inactivity, officials say. The government funding was committed from three sources in 2006 through 2008 when the property owner – Dickson See SINIAWA, Page 10A
