The $60,000 Fillies & Mares Open returns to the Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs. Two weeks ago we had a huge shocker with 30-1 outsider Billmar Scooter scoring the upset. In tonight’s featured race I’m going with the likely favorite Spirit To Spare to score the victory. The 5-year-old daughter of Artsplace has been razor sharp of late, winning in three of her last five races. Her most recent effort over the mile strip at the Meadowlands was her best yet, pacing a back half in :54 and change to win going away in 1:51.1. The Don Niccum trainee likes the five-eighths strip as well, dusting a solid field at Chester back on May 4 (on an off track) in 1:52.4.
