TUNKHANNOCK — Mike Healey, Rich Condeelis, Wes Custer and Josh McClain each came through with a run-scoring hit in a five-run fifth inning, as Tunkhannock knocked off Wyoming Valley West 5-3 on Thursday. Healey finished 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI. Condeelis and Custer each added a double of their own. Condeelis picked up the win for the Tigers (3-1) while Mike Papi pitched the final two frames for the save. Joe Pechulis and Tommy Alexander each homered for the Spartans (2-1).

Gilley has Hazleton Area giddy The Times Leader staff

HANOVER TWP. — Dwaine Gilley posted a match-high 19 kills, adding four blocks and nine digs in Hazleton Area’s 3-0 road sweep of Hanover Area on Thursday. The scores were 25-13, 25-1, 25-10. Steve Torres (six kills ,13 digs, six service points), Trevor Marszelak (30 service points) and Brett Barron (32 assists) all contributed in the win. Peter Hodgson (four service points) and Austin Sinclair both had 10 digs apiece for the Hawkeyes. Coughlin 3, Meyers 0 The Crusaders came away with a sweep of the Mohawks on the road, winning by scores of 25-20, 25-13, 25-19. Michael Shmakov (22 kills, 10 service points, six aces), Justin Coskey (four kills, four assists, nine service points) and Jake Karavitch (10 digs, five service points) topped Coughlin. Nanticoke 3, Lake-Lehman 0 Cale Evans had 21 kills and five blocks as a strong team effort helped Nanticoke upset the previously undefeated Black

Knights with scores of 25-23, 25-21, and 25-22. Ryan Bevan added eight kills, three blocks and three digs in the win while John Peitrzyk added 27 assists, four blocks, and four kills. Brent Oliver had 25 assists and four kills for Lake-Lehman while Kyle Fine had eight service points, six kills and five digs. Ryan Evans finished with eight kills, eight service points and six digs. Wyoming Valley West 3, Berwick 0 The Spartans pulled out a tight second game and went on to sweep Berwick, 25-14, 26-24, 25-14. Alex Himlin (six service points, three kills, three blocks, four digs), Russ Pacovsky (eight service points, 21 assists) and Kyle Spellman (10 service points, five aces, two kills) topped Valley West. Berwick was led by Devin Bowmen (four service points, six kills, five blocks), Matt Cashman (three service points, five kills, two blocks) and Justin Johnson (five kills, three blocks, two digs).

Cougars split doubleheader

Emily Hullings had a two-run double with two outs in the bottom of the seventh to give Misericordia the 4-3 win against Moravian in the first part of the doubleheader. Sami Cragle had three hits while two RBI in the win. Moravian won the second game 6-3. Wilkes drops two games

Jessalyn Paveletz’s three-run

home run in game two of a doubleheader against Susquehanna was the only run production for the Colonels in either game as Wilkes lost 2-0 and 7-3.

Alvernia 14, Misericordia 10

Ryan Cacchioli had three hits and four players each added two hits, yet the Cougars fell to Alvernia on Thursday. Nate Newman had two hits, including a home run, along with three RBI. Andres Gonzalez had two hits and two RBI while Dylan Mazo and Andrew Tressa had two hits.
