Mary worked as a dental assistant and practical nurse before working at Eberhard-Faber, where she was employed for over 20 years and she had great fun being a part of the bowling league. Mary Clark January 12, 2012 rs. Mary Jordan Clark, 93, of the Junction section of PittM ston, died Thursday evening, Janu-

ary 12, 2012, at the Community Hospice, Dunmore, following a brief illness. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Albert F. Clark. She was surrounded by her children and other family members at the time of her passing. She was a lifelong member of Our Lady of the Eucharist Church, Pittston, previously known as St. Mary, Help of Christians. She was a member of several parish organizations for many years, and served as a Eucharistic Minister at the church. Born January 7, 1919, daughter of the late Joseph A. and Marie Jordan, she was a 1936 graduate of St. John’s High School, Pittston. She also was a graduate of Lackawanna Business College. Her first job was assistant to Dr. James S. Jordan, a well-known Scranton ophthalmologist. Later, during the Great Depression years, she went to Washington, D.C., together with a large group of Pittston area friends seeking employment. She worked for the British Purchasing Commission, the English government’s U.S.-based acquisition agency, which became Prime Minister Winston Churchill’s secret base for war planning policies. One of her cherished memories was of Pearl Harbor Day, December 7,1941. Mary and her friends rushed to the White House as government limousines transported officials to the West Wing for urgent meetings with President Franklin D. Roosevelt. In 1943, she returned to her native Pittston to marry Navy Ensign Albert Clark. In addition to her husband, she is survived by seven children, Michael, Washington, D.C.; Patrick and his wife, Sally, Columbia, S.C.;

After graduating from Kingston High School, she was employed by Bell Telephone Company for over 30 years, retiring as a supervisor. After her retirement, she worked part time for Commonwealth Communications, Wilkes-Barre, until 2005. Lois was a life member of the Verizon pioneers volunteer network. She was also an active member of the Westside Evening Women’s Club and the G.F.W.C.N.E. Club. She was also a member of St. Ignatius Loyola Church, Kingston, and St. Vincent De Paul Church in the Villages in Florida, where she and her husband maintained a winter home. She was a Junior Girl Scout Leader and enjoyed time spent with the children. She was an outgoing and caring person and was loved by all her friends and family. Surviving her are a loving husband of over 50 years, Dale DeRonde, at home; sisters, Marilyn Dell’Orso and Janet Scouton; nephews, James Dell’Orso and James Scouton; nieces, Karen Barfield and

Kathy Youells; and seven great-nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her and loved her. Funeral will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday in the Hugh B. Hughes & Son Inc. Educated in Scranton schools, he proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was employed by the Wilkes-Barre VA Medical Center. Robert was an accomplished handyman who could fix anything and was willing to help anyone. He was very outgoing and made friends easily. All who knew him will miss him. on Thursday evening January 12, 2012. He was born in Wilkes-Barre, on August 23, 1944, son of the late Edward J. and Catherine Burke Dougherty. Joe grew up on the family farm on Shannon Hill in Auburn Center, Pa. He graduated from the Elk Lake High School, class of 1962. After high school, he served his country for four years in the U.S. Army, where he was stationed in Germany. After his discharge from the service, he would later work for Auburn Township. During that time he also helped his cousins Jerry and Gail Burke and family at Shamrock Auctions. It was there that he became interested in the auctioneering business, and Joe became a licensed auctioneer and worked with his cousins for many years, and retired just recently. It was at the auctions that he made many friends, and he made a great impression on everyone he met. Joe was a devote member of the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, in Meshoppen. He was a very active member of the St. Joachim-St. Bonaventure Cemetery Association. He was also a member of the Rought Hall Post 510 American Legion, in Black Walnut, and in his spare time he loved to collect many things, with his antique tractors and tools most dear to his heart. Besides his parents, Joe was preceded in death by a sister, Kathleen Ann Dougherty. He is survived by an aunt, Mrs. Regina Burke Graham, of Endicott, N.Y.; and an uncle, Edward T. Burke, of Johnson City, N.Y. He is also survived by his cousins, Jerry and Gail Burke, William and Clara Burke, Patricia Beirne, Margaret Graham
