TYRONE The Legacy Theatre Join Professor Harold Hill as he cons the good people of River City, Iowa in the Legacy Theatre’s production “The Music Man”—family entertainment at its best! The show follows fast-talking traveling salesman Harold Hill as he convinces townspeople to buy instruments and uniforms for a boys’ band he vows to organize, despite the fact he doesn’t know a trombone from a treble clef. “Trouble,” “My White Knight,” and “76 Trombones” are just a few of the show-stopping numbers in this Meredith Wilson classic. Show dates are June 11 to Aug. 3. If your child has been bitten by the acting bug, check into the Legacy’s all-day musical theater camp from 9 am to 5 pm from July 21 to 25 for ages 7 to 17. Participants will experience theater games, acting workshops, dance classes, develop commercials, voice lessons, a talent show, and much more. VILLA RICA Pine Mountain Gold Museum Local artifacts dating back to 12,000 BC are on display at the Pine Mountain Gold Museum, a facility dedicated to preserving the rich history of Villa Rica’s gold mining industry. The newest addition to the park is the C.P. Huntington train for the Pine Mountain Scenic Railroad. Kids of all ages will enjoy a scenic trek around the mountain on the Golden Nugget engine, touring some of the sites of the gold mining process from the 1800s, and riding through new exhibits. Pine Mountain Gold Museum also offers a 50-seat theater with a 20-minute documentary on the history of the Villa Rica mines, a covered gold and gemstone panning area, an authentic grist mill and water wheel, a 27-acre park with over three miles of self-guided walking trails with interpretive signage, knowledgeable guides available for group tours of 15 or more, west Georgia’s only authentic 19-century gold stamp mill, and a live farm animal exhibit. Bring the family and enjoy a day in the park, a picnic in the covered pavilion, panning for gold, a tour of the intact ruins of Pine Mountain’s gold mines
