Come, you children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the Lord. 12 Who is the man who desires life, And loves many days, that he may see good? 13 Keep your tongue from evil, And your lips from speaking deceit. 14 Depart from evil and do good; Seek peace and pursue it. 11

He guards all his bones; Not one of them is broken. 21 Evil shall slay the wicked, And those who hate the righteous shall be condemned. 22 The Lord redeems the soul of His servants, And none of those who trust in Him shall be condemned. 20

The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, And His ears are open to their cry. 16 The face of the Lord is against those who do evil, To cut off the remembrance of them from the earth. 15

Every poet and musician and artist, but for Grace, is drawn away from love of the thing he tells, to love of the telling till, down in Deep Hell, they cannot be interested in God at all but only in what they say about Him.

The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears, And delivers them out of all their troubles. 18 The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, And saves such as have a contrite spirit. 17

Many are the afflictions of the righteous, But the Lord delivers him out of them all.

lead my cause, O Lord, with those who strive with me; Fight against those who fight against me.

You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; You have put off my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness, to the end that my glory may sing praise to You and not be silent. O Lord my God, I will give thanks to You forever. | Psalm 30:11, 12

T

hese are verses that hold on to me when I am too weak to stand. I thank God for the promise of His long-lasting favor and the shortness of the dark night’s raging storm. Oh, the joy and the peace of the sunrise and the promise of a brand-new day! I can almost hear David singing this whole psalm. He knew about danger. He had been in the dark valley and he felt the fear of being alone. Yet with all that life threw at him, he still sang praises to God and danced for joy. I join with him in proclaiming that God is a good God. I love you, Lord!
