2. What is your understanding of Sabbath? Do you regularly set
aside one day a week to rest? Do you think this is something Christians today should be doing? Why or why not?
3. Jesus showed compassion to the disciples and to the man with
the shriveled hand. What basic human needs did he meet in each situation? What needs do you see around you in your relationships and your community? How can you show a similar compassion in these situations?
4. In John 13:34, Jesus says, “A new command I give you: Love
one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.” Think about your small group, your church, and the body of Christ in general. Do you think they are characterized by their love or by the rules of their religion?
