An’s lounge

From The Editor With the changing of the seasons comes exciting transitions in design and style!

The Gentleman’s Lounge featured on this issue’s cover - which we designed as part of the 2011 New England Living Show House - was inspired by equestrian toiles and animal prints in warm, neutral tones. We love how it feels cozy and inviting, perfect for snuggling up in front of a crackling fire on a cool fall evening. In this issue, we’ll look at some of the other exciting new color palettes for Fall 2011, from vibrant reds to deep blues. We’ll also be highlighting new looks from some of today’s hottest designers as well as some of the latest in home decorating styles. We hope you’ll gain ideas and inspiration from our visually compelling walk-through of the trends and happenings this season, and remember - anything you see can be purchased directly through the Window Scene! We always welcome your feedback and would love to hear your thoughts. Feel free to post on our blog (http://www.thewindowscene.blogspot.com), or email us at sales@thewindowscene.com. I look forward to hearing from you! xoxo

Serenity Where Comfort Meets Elegance

Country Fresh A New Take on Classic Country Style

Bold color combinations in clean, graphic patterns update classic country style for the 21st century. High contrast colors like fierce red and crisp white turn a typically cluttered aesthetic into refined style. Jane Churchill (left and top) and Jab Anstoetz (right) epitomize this look in their collections featuring a stunning range of fresh, accessible fabrics that are sophisticated yet relaxed; romantic yet contemporary; easyto-live-with yet innovative.

Mountain Escape

Typically associated with tailored menswear, these pure virgin wool fabrics in check, pinstripe, dogtooth, plain flannel and Oxford stripe designs are given a modern twist for the home by combining classical brown, grey and charcoal with contemporary shades of magenta and purple. Superbly soft yet high performance, these fabrics from Clarke & Clarke have rugged mountain appeal while providing everyday durability and comfort.

Bold and rich, yet smart and sophisticated, Clarke & Clarke’s collection of sumptuous high pile cut velvets creates a beautiful look for both drapes and upholstery. Wonderful shades of citrus, heather and chocolate work well as multi-colored stripes and are easily coordinated with both small-scale checks and large-scale graphic patterns. Combine them with elegant pieces like a beautiful jester chair and accessorize with contemporary accents like a silver leaf metal and acrylic lamp or a basketweave side table with beveled mirror top.

Spicy Fiery reds and rich golds combine to form this peppery color palette that is guaranteed to warm up any space. Southwestern-inspired designs in stripes and ikat patterns bring the heat, while intensely-colored accessories like red faux leather trunks and graphic stoneware plates bring a hint of Latin flavor.

PICKED

Delicious berries & decadent chocolates make up this tasty collection of colors.

Fill a room with these sprightly shades to create a lively, invigorating space, or pick just one of these cheerful colors to provide an exciting accent. A distressed side table in eye-catching raspberry offers a fresh take on an old favorite, while a glass lamp in bold peacock adds a trendy touch.

Take some rich blues and regal purples, mix in a touch of khaki and black, and what do you get? A perfectly proper space.

Perfectly Proper

This master suite by Ralph Lauren exemplifies the perfectly appointed room, from the royal crest embroidered on the vintage plum velvet pillow to the jewel-toned paisley sheet set paired with herringbone plaid. This distinguished color palette is not limited to the traditional space, however. A more modern room takes on a refined look in these stately hues, as illustrated in the picture on the far left.

Trendy & Tropical

A gamut of greens, from the darkest emeralds to the brightest teals, comprises this aquatic palette. Crisp white provides the perfect backdrop for these exotic shades. A punch of gold adds a bit of depth. From slightly mod to tricked-out trendy, this exhuberant collection is a sure crowd-pleaser, guaranteed to bring the natural vibrance and warm aesthetic of the tropics into your home. Go big with large-scale wallcoverings, or add just a pop of color with bold toss pillows in graphic designs.
