Tom and Ashley had a mutual love for the time period and colours in the movie, The Count of Monte Cristo, particularly in relation to the masquerade scene. They wanted to draw inspiration from the movie’s renaissance style for their June nuptials! Soon realizing that not everyone was quite as knowledgable about great French literature as they were, they opted to incorporate other famous romantic couples throughout history into their own wedding day story and theme as well.

Tom and Ashley gave each of their guest tables the name and theme of a famous couple such as Romeo and Juliet (see above) and used old frames, like the gold one above, to mark each theme.

Ashley used the rich, lush colors of the masquerade scene in the design of her florals, which were roses and calla lilies in deep reds and purples. The bridesmaids wore a brilliant purple that was echoed in both Ashley’s

Ashley’s brilliant necklace and earrings were purchased by her parents in Shanghai. And to tie in perfectly with the style of the day, Hatley Castle provided a phenominal backdrop. ■
