This is a highly versatile font inspired by the classic Didone typefaces that are synonymous with luxury brands. You can use this stylish font for reading text or capitalise it for use as a headline. Have it in black on white stock paper to suit a bold minimalist theme, or choose grey for a softer and more elegant look. The serif edges are not ideal for special effects, however, so do consult your printer beforehand when using on printed goods.

rom the pebble beach and the crashing waves to the lush forests and dramatic cliffs overlooking the ocean, there is

no better backdrop than Mother Nature. Completing this look are the bride and groom’s outfits, including the bride’s long train and veil, which helped to add serenity and dreaminess to the overall effect. We love the chic use of the geometric arch, not to mention the terra cotta cutlery and crockery, and the blue grey touches for a pop of colour.

christmas carnival You wouldn’t have seen a wedding like this anywhere else – an all-white winter wonderland carnival, complete with a carousel, dancers, and a ringmaster for an emcee! Equal parts fashion chic and elegant, every part of this wedding looked like it was straight out of a fashion editorial spread. Jane Chuck: “Our wedding was on Christmas Day so we decided to have our theme be ‘White Christmas’. We both love animals and Hanpin loves horses in particular, which explains why we had our walkway filled with animals and also a carousel as our stage and main piece.”

CARNIVAL BOOTH As the happy couple had chosen to tie the knot on Christmas Day, they incorporated Christmas trees and fun fair-inspired décor into their celebration. In the ballroom where the party really was, guests were treated to novel joys such as cotton candy and other snacks, as they took in the lights and sights of this beautiful soirée.

VENUE

Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur Located in downtown Kuala Lumpur, a stone’s throw from the Petronas Twin Towers and the shopping district, the 5-star Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur was a luxurious choice of venue. The high ceiling and elegant chandeliers were ideal for all this breathtaking décor, which included white animals and a carousel that wished everyone a “Marry Christmas”. It was a play on the groom’s last name, Ma, and an acknowledgement of the fact that they were getting married on Christmas Day.

RECEPTION For the glamorous reception, the beautiful bride changed into a minimalist yet devastatingly sexy dress that was worthy of a red carpet event, and the couple also opted for the most unique five-tier cake with modern artistic textures. The guests toasted the newlyweds and their union before partying the night away, making it truly a night to remember for all. Indeed it’s not every day that we see such a gorgeous Christmas wedding.

all-white+textures Taking the cake for a “Dreamy Elegance” themed wedding, this celebration looked like a slice of heaven. From the textures of lace and tulle on the bride and her bridesmaids’ dresses to the pleats on the bridal gown and the copious amounts of white flowers and petals, it could not have been any more perfect. While the groom and his groomsmen kept things neutral with their tan suits, the other elements stood out, including the stalks of wheat and the dreamiest of arbours that served as a backdrop for the exchange of vows. Said Franciska: “We went all white because we wanted something classic, timeless and dreamy.”

CEREMONY In front of a small, intimate group of their closest friends and family, the newlyweds finally tied the knot after nine years together, half of which they spent in a long distance relationship. It was an emotional moment for everyone. The semi-circular structures helped to make the venue resemble a Romanesque cathedral, complete with chandelier and beautifully adorned with white flowers. Meanwhile, the beautiful surroundings of serene clifftops and romantic beaches combined to make this a truly dreamy and magnificent occasion.

VENUE

Khayangan Estate, Uluwatu, Bali Perched on a leafy hillside in Uluwatu, close to Nunggalan Beach, this unique resort is filled with subtle textures and touches, from the elaborate lattice panelling to the “floating” terrazzo baths. Built to resemble a traditional Javanese house complex, the views from the top are completely unrivalled. Could you imagine a better place to say “I do” to the love of your life? “The first time we stepped into Khayangan, we immediately fell in love with it,” shared Franciska. “We were just so in awe of the view. We think choosing to get married here was one of the best decisions of our life. The size of it was just perfect for our wedding party, and everyone couldn’t stop commenting on how beautiful Khayangan is.”

RECEPTION Complementing the all-white colour theme of the ceremony was this gorgeous blush pink and soft grey combo for the reception. As pink was the bride’s favourite colour, grey was chosen to add a cooler and more masculine touch to the décor. Beneath a glass chandelier in an elegant marquee, surrounded by more stalks of wheat and gilded cutlery, the newlyweds celebrated their union with their nearest and dearest. As the sun set on that perfect day, it was indeed a soirée to remember!

From the traditional kua for the morning tea ceremony to the dresses that she wore during the vow exchange ceremony and wedding reception, they were simply perfect. timeless rustic Given the abundantly beautiful venue that is Tanah Larwina, it was decided that any additional décor should serve to highlight the gorgeous jungle backdrop rather than obstruct it. Complementing the all-white roses and wisteria, as well as the eucalyptus leaves, ivy and ferns, was the classic soft floral choice of baby’s breath. Other decorative elements were rustic themed, including burlap cloth textures, twine, and items in warm wooden tones. Finally, bringing it all together were the neutral bridal party colours of silver and brocade for the groomsmen, and blue grey for the bridesmaids.

Tanah Larwina, Hulu Langat, Selangor Located 50km from Kuala Lumpur, Tanah Larwina Retreat is a three-acre hobby farm that sits by a babbling brook and is near to a forest reserve. As a wedding venue, this was especially close to the bride’s heart as it is her family’s farm! They even used a swing structure that was built by her father about 15 years ago for the dais. “My father bought the land nine years ago,” revealed Iman. “He has been nurturing and cultivating it to become a beautiful retreat for our family and friends to enjoy.”

CEREMONY What a beautiful spot to have your solemnisation! The dais (throne for the bride and groom for when they exchange rings) was actually a swing structure built by the bride’s father, and the fact that it was white meant it fit perfectly with the wedding theme. The bride was accompanied to the solemnisation ceremony by her sister and mother, while her father and husbandto-be waited at the table. Surrounded by lush rainforest, an abundance of baby’s breath, and beautiful wooden touches, this was a pictureperfect venue for the lovebirds to seal the deal.

FOOD TRUCK Here’s an idea: why not get food trucks for your wedding soirée? These newlyweds certainly knew how to do it right, getting tacos from Curbside Cantina, ice cream from Inside Scoop, coffee from Pagi Coffee Co., and apam balik. What’s more, the Inside Scoop van was a fantastic prop for the couple’s whimsical rustic wedding theme too!

RECEPTION There was a sit-down meal, of course. While a band played tunes throughout the evening, the newlyweds celebrated with their guests under a dreamy marquee made of draped white cloth and rattan and leafy decorative lamps. What a beautiful sight! Iman: “During the reception, my husband and I were eating at our little bridal table, and we could see our guests eating, mingling, making trips to the ice cream truck, taking pictures near the river, and just enjoying themselves. Witnessing the lively ambience, happy guests and full tummies made the months of preparation and planning all worth it.”

S

hould we be surprised that a couple who got to know each other at Yellowstone National Park in the States would choose to include hiking in their bridal portraits? Thanks,

Jackie Yong Photography, for braving this journey so that they (and we) could have such a lovely set of photos. How long was the entire trip? The entire trip was around a week. They flew to Switzerland about ten days before me, and we met up to shoot in Switzerland for one day. After that we went to Venice, Milan and Rome. Where did you go to get the photo of the Swiss Alps? They both love hiking, and they told me about their idea of taking pictures in the Swiss Alps. We did some research and decided to go for the mountain area near Zermatt, one of the coolest and most popular towns in Switzerland. It's not big, but it's beautiful because you can see the famous Matterhorn from there. We took a cable car to Sunnegga and started our 5km hike, which took us about 5-6 hours. What was the most difficult part of that shoot? We went in October, which meant the weather was about 15 degrees Celsius. The most difficult part was dealing with the sun and the windy conditions. It wasn’t easy to hike and move around to find the best angles while carrying all our gear. We even had to shout across the lake sometimes.

Square necklines are anything but square. A touch modern compared to scoop or sweetheart necklines, they are boho chic when paired with poet sleeves, which happen to be very trendy at the moment. This type of neckline is ideal for highlighting your clavicle or elongating a short neck and narrow shoulders. If you have a square shaped face, however, a square neckline is best avoided.
