TEXAS SOUTHERN UNIVERSITY

Texas Southern University possesses an impressive array of more than 100 undergraduate and graduate programs and concentrations, a diverse faculty, 80plus student organizations, and an extensive alumni network comprised of educators, entrepreneurs, public servants, lawyers, pilots, artists, and more, many of whom are change agents on the local, national and international stage. Nestled upon a sprawling 150acre campus, Texas Southern University is one of the nation’s largest historically black universities. Our academic curriculum is organized into eleven colleges and schools that continue to serve as cornerstones for developing the greatest potential in leaders from various socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds. Some of TSU’s well-known graduates include the late U.S. Congresswoman Barbara Jordan and U.S. Congressman George “Mickey” Leland.

The university’s enrollment has grown from 2,303 students to more than 9,700 undergraduate and graduate students from across the world. Although initially established to educate African Americans, Texas Southern University has become one of the most diverse institutions in Texas. The TSU Herald staff strives to give Texas Southern University a campus newspaper that covers as many facets of interest as possible. We work to make campus events and topics relevant to the general public of Texas Southern. Within our staff, we seek to increase journalism expertise and writing proficiency as well as improve teamwork skills and work ethic. In addition, The TSU Herald provides an open forum for student opinion and discourse within the university.

Ads should be submitted in CMYK, Adobe PDF, .jpeg or .tiff formats at 150+dpi. If your ad does not follow these guidlines, the TSU Herald cannot be held responsible for problems that result. Other formats, including hard copy, may be accepted by special request.

Clients wishing to advertise in the TSU Herald must complete an ad application. All applications must be reserved by 5:00 pm on the Wednesday before the ad’s publication date. We cannot guarantee placement after this time. Payments may be made by money order, cashier’s or company check. Tearsheets and invoices are sent after each issue to companies and organizations only. Personal ads must be paid for in advance by the methods listed above.

Ad copy, art and other material for you ad must be submitted by 5pm on the Monday before the ad’s publication date. Please submit all artwork to turner_tt@tsu.edu.

THE TIGER

The Tiger Yearbook is an annual publication, which highlights and commemorates the full academic school year. The Tiger Yearbook is written, designed and produced by the students of Texas Southern University who work in the Office of Student Publications. Every year, the Tiger Yearbook staff strives to innovatively assemble a chronicle that features eye-catching graphics and photographs that will spark the interest of students and delight members of the faculty , staff and administration.

readership and distribution

The Tiger Yearbook is distributed during the fall semester after the yearbook’s namesake. (ex: The 2013-2014 Yearbook will be distributed in the Fall of 2013) 1500 copies of the Tiger Yearbook are printed every year and students, faculty and staff eagerly shair their favorite pictures, stories and events with their friends and family throughout Houston and throughout the United States.

A great number of our students commute from Houston and surrounding areas.

Some of our students travel from across the nation to attend Texas Southern University.
