Dr Philip McPhee stands for re-election as president of the BBMEC

Reverend Dr Philip McPhee, president of the Bahamas Baptist Missionary and Educational Convention (BBMEC), is offering himself for re-election in the upcoming elections on May 29.

Since inheriting the role prematurely, Dr McPhee said he has striven to demonstrate unwavering dedication to unity, growth and community impact.

Under his leadership, he said, the BBMEC has strengthened the bonds within the Baptist community through successful engagement initiatives. His commitment to unity has fostered collaboration between Baptist members and the broader community, ensuring that collective efforts lead to shared goals and the betterment of all.

Education and spiritual growth are the cornerstones of Dr McPhee’s vision. He has advocated for the utilisation of resources available through esteemed Baptist schools and colleges. His plans for the future include new educational initiatives, scholarships, training programs, and the expansion of the Baptist

sports programme, reflecting his dedication to fostering intellectual and spiritual development.

Dr McPhee said he recognises the youth as the heart of the community. His leadership has seen the implementation of youth empowerment programmes and leadership development initiatives, which have yielded inspiring success stories.

Committed to nurturing young talent, Dr McPhee aims to ensure that the youth are equipped with the necessary tools to succeed, reinforcing the Convention’s dedication to their future.

Advocacy for social justice is also central to Dr McPhee’s beliefs. He actively engages in addressing issues that affect both the Baptist community and the wider Bahamas, ensuring that the Convention remains a powerful voice for justice and equality.

Transparency and responsible stewardship,

he said, are non-negotiable under his leadership. He hopes to always assure open communication regarding financial matters and strives to uphold the highest standards of accountability, reinforcing the trust placed in the Convention by its members.

Dr McPhee’s leadership has seen the expansion of mission and outreach programmes, touching lives both in Nassau and across the Family Islands.

In a rapidly evolving world Dr. McPhee has also prioritised the integration of technology within the Convention. His efforts to equip churches with modern tools and platforms have enhanced communication and outreach, ensuring that the Convention remains relevant and effective.

Dr McPhee celebrates the success of healthrelated initiatives and remains committed to promoting holistic

wellness. By addressing physical, mental, and spiritual well-being, he ensures a thriving community under his care.

Preserving the rich Baptist culture and heritage is a sacred duty for Dr McPhee. He has initiated plans to honour and celebrate traditions, ensuring that future generations can cherish and continue the legacy of the Baptist community.

Dr McPhee further reaffirmed his open-door policy, as he said he values the concerns and ideas of members, churches, and pastors. He pledges to listen, learn, and act in response to the needs of the Baptist community and the Bahamas.

As the BBMEC prepares for the upcoming Convention, Dr Philip McPhee said he wants to invite everyone to join in this journey of unity, growth and community impact.
