Currant Growing & Pruning: Saturday 18th February 2023

Growing currants in the garden is very rewarding and give excellent yields of fruit over many years for little effort. Bushes can grow large and are ideal for allotments, but most currants can be trained to grow in smaller spaces and fit into a tiny garden.

Join us for a one day workshop and learn how to grow these power-packed, tasty gems. On the course, you will: learn how to grow and prune currant bushes, find out about common pests and diseases and how to reduce damage without resorting to chemical sprays, gain practical experience in winter, pruning a variety of currant bushes.

Taking place at our community allotment in Carshalton, run by our friendly and knowledgeable tutor, you will receive practical instruction and lots of information to take away.

Bring your own gloves and secateurs if you have them and come prepared for any weather!

Details: 10.30am - 3pm at Carshalton Community Allotment (access between 33-35 Colston Avenue, SM5 2PW. Price: £38.00. Email food@ecolocal.org.uk for further information. To book, visit www.ecolocal.org.uk

New Beginnings: Recovering from Divorce of Broken Relationship?

New Beginnings is a free divorce support group for anyone who is suffering from a divorce, separation or broken relationship. The aim of the group is to help people to come to terms with the past and make a fresh start in a friendly and supportive atmosphere. People come along who are at every stage of divorce, from before it takes place to many years later.

We have run these sessions for many years and here are some of the comments people have made about their experiences:

“It’s been like an oasis”“Words can’t express the positive feelings that have come from this group”“New friends, new hope, greater confidence”

Our group is free, based on Christian principles, but is not religious in any way and is open to everyone.

For more information, or if you wish to come, please call Colin on 07855 245619 or new.beginnings@blueyonder.co.uk

“It was great seeing people become more positive as the weeks went by”
