The Concept Over the last decade, FLOW DESIGN’s designer, Thomas Jørgensen, has developed the furniture series; The Monumental Series. Thomas Jørgensen (born in 1979) started as an apprentice cabinet maker at Jens Bjerre Interior, and upon graduation continued working for the company on, among other things, the interior design and décor of The Royal Library, the Aarhus art museum (ARoS), and The Royal Danish Theatre. In the years that followed, his interest increased in engineered art and in self-supporting constructions, along with a growing love for working with metal and in particular with stainless steel. This resulted in him establishing his own company with all the machinery necessary for the manufacturing process. Customers include, among others, Smith/Hammer/Lassen Architects, Hotel Royal, Danfoss and many others. The idea behind The Monumental Series has been to create a linear and contrasting design; a design where the style is noticeable, but with an inbuilt ease and elegance that dares to challenge peoples’ ideas about, for example, a modern lounge area.
