With nearly 30 years experience in the Army and Army reserves and 15 years as a diplomat in some very dangerous places, during which time she won a State Department award for heroism for helping evacuate thousands from Sierra Leone during their civil war, Col. Ann Wright is no coward. She is, however, the highestranking State Department official to resign in protest of the Iraq war and, since that time, has become a leader in the peace movement. She’ll visit the area on Monday, November 19, when she delivers the talk From Army Officer to Peace Activist at 1 p.m. at USC-Aiken’s Humanities & Social Sciences Room 116. She’ll also speak at the Headquarters Branch Library in Augusta at 6:30 p.m. that same day. Visit csrapeace.org.
