post- tRAMLINEs CLEAN Up BEGINs ECO SOFAS

Tramlines has wrapped up for 2023, with some of music’s best-known names hitting the stage in Hillsborough Park.

The unusually high rainfall presented challenges over the weekend, with additional mitigations put in place before doors opened each day, following agreement between Tramlines organisers and the Council’s Health and Safety team. Due to the wet weather it is expected that some extra groundwork repairs will be needed at the park, and assessments will be carried out in the coming days and weeks to understand what is required.

What happens now?

• Tramlines’ ground crew visited the park on Monday 24 July to begin to assess the condition of the site and what may be needed. It may take a number of days to get an accurate picture. Once some of the site is cleared, a better assessment can be made.

• Tramlines are working in partnership with the Council to ensure they can vacate the site safely and take the care that is needed in wet conditions. This is expected to take at least a week, but is likely to be slightly longer.

• The intention is for the ‘crossing paths’ at the park to be open this week

• Tramlines’ ground crew will begin carrying out the required groundwork repairs – which Tramlines pay for –from 31 July Cllr Richard Williams, Chair of the Communities, Parks and Leisure Committee, said: “Tramlines is a massive celebration of music – even more than that, it’s a chance to show off homegrown Sheffield talent and celebrate the vibrant scene we have here in this great city. I want to say a big thank you to the fans who attended – they came prepared, took their time and had smiles on their faces even in the rain. Tramlines makes a

significant contribution each year to the Sheffield economy, and the fee from the festival goes directly into maintenance and improvements in the park.

“We’re proud to host Sheffield’s biggest party – including the Fringe –each year, and we work closely with Tramlines before, during and after the festival to ensure there are measures in place to respect the environment and to reduce the impact of the event on those who live in the area, many of whom attend the festival too.

“This year we were faced with unusually wet weather and additional steps were

taken by the organisers ahead of the doors opening each day to ensure the event could continue and to mitigate damage at the park. Teams from Tramlines and the Council were monitoring the conditions throughout the weekend. Due to the weather, we expect that additional groundwork repairs will be needed.

Tramlines’ ground crew will be on site immediately after the festival to assess what works will be needed, and detail on that will be shared over the coming days and weeks. We will support them to get Hillsborough Park back to its usual high standards as swiftly as possible.”

pREvENTING baRbECUE dIsasTERs!

A kitchen expert has revealed the common mistakes most Brits will make when camping this summer - which can increase the risk of food poisoning, and even cause fires.

Mert Yashar says that it’s easy for many of us to forget essential kitchen safety tips while celebrating the warm weather, but with data showing that food poisoning cases rise in the summer months, it’s important to stay on the ball. According to the Food Standards Agency (FSA), there are 2.4 million cases of foodborne illness a year, and the risk rises in summer as the warm weather boosts bacterial growth. Mert says: “while it’s practically a British summer staple to fire up the grill when out and about, the fact is that many people will start to let their food safety standards slip once the good weather kicks in.

The most easily-avoidable mistake that many make is laying out their raw meat in an easy-to-grab fashion on a chopping board or plate, which they then carry to the grill, disposable BBQ or open fire. They then place the cooked products back onto the same surface to be transported back inside their tent or caravan, or to another outdoor table where condiments, garnishes, and guests are waiting. Just because the meat has been cooked doesn’t mean it’s safe to place it on a surface that’s previously held raw meat, as this will cause contamination.”

The expert reveals that this preoccupation can result in other essential safety tips being overlooked, as Brits will have to juggle cooking and entertaining their guests in a social setting. Mert adds: “Other

common mishaps that occur include leaving raw meat unrefrigerated for an extended time while waiting for the grill to heat up - especially if you don’t have a cooler box - not keeping side dishes covered to protect them from bacteria or bugs, and rushing to take the meat off the grill before it’s ready to free it up for the next batch of meat. Hosts can even find themselves reapplying the same marinade they’ve placed raw meat in to baste the cooked meat on the grill - just before serving it to their unsuspecting guests.”

But it’s not just food contamination that being distracted or lazy can lead to, as barbecues reportedly account for around 1,800 accident and emergency visits yearly. According to the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents, most grill-related accidents happen in a home setting instead of a public place, and the likelihood of injury increases considerably as temperatures rise. Figures on domestic fire incidents from the Home Office support this, as an accidental fire is 124% more likely to occur between 4 pm and 8 pm than any other time. But there are some easy ways to prioritise fire and food safety at your next event as long as you remember the following advice:

• Keep your raw and cooked meat utensils separate. Using different plates and tongs for raw and cooked meat ensures cross-contamination can’t occur. If you’re working with limited containers, place cooked meat directly onto your guests’ plates so that the board or plate is only used to bring raw meat to the grill.

• Make sure your meat and side dishes are covered. While it’s

tempting to put on a spread and then turn all of your attention to the grill, it’s much safer to keep your side dishes covered with foil or clingfilm right up until you need to use them, to avoid any bugs or bacteria sneaking in. You’ll also want to keep your meat refrigerated as much as you can until the grill has heated up - unless the product says it needs to reach room temperature first.

• Avoid placing hot dishes on cold and wooden surfaces. Not only can placing hot dishes on your countertops cause blistering or burning but it can also make it harder for your guests to keep track of which containers are too hot to touch. Place glass or metal dishes on a wooden chopping board or cooling rack so that it’s easier to distinguish, and so you avoid damaging your kitchen surfaces.

• Make sure your grill is clean before firing it up. The best time to clean your grill is immediately after it’s heated but before you start cooking again, as this will make it easier to get grease off and ensure you’re not contaminating food. Brush off the grates and racks once they’re cool with a wire brush, scraper, or scourer, and keep an eye out for any debris that may fall onto the hot coals while your food cooks.

• Keep a bucket of water or sand nearby. Your fire should ideally be set at least 10 feet away from your house and should have a bucket of water or sand close by for emergency extinguishing. If your grill uses gas, don’t use water and instead opt for sand or salt, as water on a grease fire can cause a flare-up. Make sure to close the lid once adding your water/sand to help starve the fire of oxygen. With festival season in full swing and temperatures picking up after a few weeks of rain, it’s key that Brits ensure they avoid cooking outdoors in the sweltering heat unless following safety precautions, as dry grass also increases fire riskespecially with flammable tents in close proximity.

The next steps for plans to improve bus corridors in the southwest of Sheffield were discussed at Committee last week.

The Transport Policy Committee met on Wednesday, July 19th to discuss proposals for Abbeydale Road, London Road and Ecclesall Road. The plans, which were first presented to Council members in November 2021, have been developed following public consultation and feedback from local residents and business owners. The latest scheme proposes a number of improvements to traffic signal operation, junction upgrades, and bus priority measures which will enable public transport to travel through these corridors with less disruption. Camera technology will be used to tackle illegal parking in the existing bus lanes which contributes to current bus delays. At this time, red routes and changes to bus lane hours of operation along the corridors will not be introduced as part of the scheme. The Council will undertake further statutory consultation on the changes. Subject to this, the measures will be implemented – with work likely to start on the ground in Spring 2024.

Why this area of Sheffield?

In 2019 bus company First Group found Ecclesall Road and Abbeydale Road, including London Road, to be amongst the top 20 locations for delays in Sheffield.

SYMCA bus journey time analysis also highlighted significant delays on these routes – with journey speeds lower than 10mph for a large proportion of the day.

Illegal parking on these routes often leads to delayed buses and the build-up of traffic. For example, during a three day survey period, 704 vehicles were parked illegally along London Road and Abbeydale Road In addition, transport is responsible for 26% of Sheffield’s CO2 emissions.

After the spring clean comes the summer clear out…and the chance to both declutter your home and support St Luke’s Hospice. Between now and October, St Luke’s is running a series of high-profile promotion aimed at encouraging supporters to donate all their unwanted clothing, furniture, household items, books, toys, CDs and DVDs to the charity’s chain of 13 shops across the city. First up and running on bus stops and billboard across the city until this weekend, is a special retail stock donation poster campaign, appealing for quality stock donations to help support the charity’s new shop openings, including the much anticipated St Luke’s city centre concept-store which opens on The Moor in August. In September and throughout Freshers’ Week at both city universities, St Luke’s is running a new Shop Pre-Loved, Shop St Luke’s campaign. And the hospice has also been chosen as the Sheffield Chamber of Commerce Pre-Loved Fashion Partner for the Sheffield Business Awards, encouraging Chamber members to make eco-conscious choices for occasion wear both for the prestigious awards ceremony

in October and the forthcoming party season. The St Luke’s Retail chain is a huge part of the £11.5million needed each annually to keep St Luke’s services available to the people of Sheffield every day of the year. The shops are, however, entirely reliant on the generosity of the public to donate their high quality preloved items to help keep shelves stocked. St Luke’s Head of Retail Marie Egerton commented:

“Our aim is to continue to grow our retail operation, raising the profile of St Luke’s shops across the city, strengthening St Luke’s brand affinity with pre-loved retail, generating quality stock donations and increasing the number of customers visiting our shops and raising vital income.” Donations can be made at any of the St Luke’s shops across Sheffield during normal trading hours or at the St Luke’s Donation Centre. To donate furniture items, visit the Chapeltown, Crookes or City Road shops or contact on contact the St Luke’s Donation Line on 0114 235 7562 or email donationline@ hospicesheffield.co.uk to arrange a free collection. Phase 2 of Right Care, Right Person set to launch in South Yorkshire

South Yorkshire Police is set to launch phase 2 of the Right Care, Right Person (RCRP) initiative to protect vulnerable people and ensure members of our community are receiving the right care and support from the right agency.

RCRP is a national model which has been created to ensure we are working collaboratively with our partners in the health and social care sectors to effectively support and protect members of our communities, by providing the most appropriate responses to incidents linked to welfare, medical and social care issues.

Assistant Chief Constable Dan Thorpe, who is leading the roll out of this initiative across South Yorkshire Police explains more about the decision to introduce it, “Where there are concerns for a person’s welfare linked to medical or social care issues, it is vital people receive the right support and care from the agency which has the right skills and training to provide this.

“The first phase of RCRP launched earlier this year and focused on reports relating to concerns for welfare. Prior to our adoption of this initiative, we provided internal training to our call handlers so they can better assess calls for service, understand what type of support individuals require and identify if the police are best able to provide this.

“As well as internal training, we’ve also worked with our partners in the health and social care

sector to explain the principles of this initiative and the importance of the right care being provided by the right organisation.

“Based on the positive impact the first phase is having in ensuring we can better protect and support an individual’s welfare, we are now launching phase 2, which will focus on those who choose to leave certain healthcare facilities.

“In preparation for this phase, we have again been working with our partners to explain the services we can provide to protect vulnerable members of our communities who are reported as walking out from acute healthcare facilities and the legislative powers we have in relation to these types of incidents.

“Although this initiative brings a change in how we currently assess and respond to incidents linked to vulnerable people, I’d like to offer my reassurance that this doesn’t mean we won’t respond to incidents or provide help to those in need. Our number one priority remains keeping all members of our communities safe and we continue to work in collaboration with our partners to ensure vulnerable members of our communities receive the most appropriate type of support they need.”

Walk aS one to face cancer alongSide WeSton park cancer charity

Weston Park Cancer Charity's landmark walking event will finally go ahead after a three-year wait.

Weston Park Cancer Charity is inviting people whose lives – or those of friends and loved ones – have been affected by cancer to ‘Walk As One’ and unite to face the disease. The charity – which funds life-altering cancer support, enhanced treatment experiences and vital research – is taking its ‘Together at Every Step’ tagline literally, as hundreds of people are expected to lace up and walk to face cancer together.

‘Walk As One’, initially planned to take place in 2020 – the charity’s 50th year – will feature both a ten-mile countryside hike and an accessible four-mile course. Both walks set off from Sheffield’s Endcliffe Park on Sunday, 17th September.

Alongside entertainment and food and drink stalls creating a festival atmosphere, there will be a quiet area where people can reflect and remember those who have passed away due to cancer.

Many of those who take part will also be walking in memory or support of loved ones – something Weston Park Cancer Charity is encouraging to ensure the event is a special one.

The ten-mile walk, which sets off at 9.30am, heads through Endcliffe and Bingham Parks, along the brook-side path to Forge Dam and Ringinglow, with refreshments halfway and plenty of opportunities to rest and enjoy the beautiful woodlands.

Crossing onto the moors of the Peak District and through Lady Canning’s Plantations, the route heads past Whirlow

Hall Farm and crosses lush green fields back to Endcliffe Park, where walkers can join the celebrations with a wellearned sense of achievement.

The four-mile walk sets off at 11am and heads along the beautiful Porter Valley, looping through Bingham Park to Forge Dam and back, taking in some lovely spring scenery. The pushchair and pram-friendly path follows the babbling Porter Brook through the woods and parkland.

Entry for adults is £20 for the ten-mile walk and £15 for the four-mile walk.

Entry for children is £12 for the ten-mile walk and £8 for the four-mile walk. Children under three can attend either walk for free.

Weston Park Cancer Charity chief executive, Emma Clarke, said: “One in two of us will face cancer, which means that directly or indirectly, everyone’s life is affected by cancer.

“We are stronger, more supported, and more resilient, when we stand united – that’s why we’re walking as one.

“That’s the message we want to spread among those taking part, and it’s the promise we make to everyone who comes through our doors and anyone else who’s affected by cancer – we’ll be together at every step, ready to help them through any challenges they face.

“The funds we raise through ‘Walk As One’ will help us to deliver life-changing work for people living with and beyond cancer – providing support, enabling vital research and enhancing treatment.”

Step inSide the World of JameS herriot

Like millions worldwide, you’ve probably read his books or watched All Creatures Great and Small, or maybe you’ve heard of James Herriot on the TV series The Yorkshire Vet. Well why not come and see where James Herriot, the world’s most famous vet, lived, worked and wrote his incredibly successful series of books based on his experiences as a young North Yorkshire vet.

Walk through his fully-restored 1940s home and surgery in Thirsk; travel back in time to what life was like when James was practicing. See the car he drove, step into the TV set, try your hand at being a vet, plus so much more including interactive games for Herriot fans of all ages. A visit to the World of James Herriot is something you will never forget.

Stepping through the famous red door of 23 Kirkgate, Thirsk is to step inside the World of James Herriot, the fully-restored site of his original 1940s home and veterinary practice (known in his books as Skeldale House, Darrowby) set in the heart of stunning Herriot Country.

Explore this magical time-capsule, where the world’s most famous vet and one of the most popular writers of the twentieth century lived, worked and wrote his much-loved stories based on his experiences as a young veterinary surgeon working among the farming community of North Yorkshire.

The home retains many of the original furnishings in the family rooms, frozen in time. The dining room doubled as the practice office, where farmers’ bills were typed up at the desk; the sitting room displays original books and family photos; the basement converted to an air raid shelter during the Second World War; the breakfast room favoured for its relative warmth and the reproduction of a typical farmhouse kitchen.

As well as a family home, it was also a busy surgery with a dispensary crammed with fascinating ancient and bizarre remedies and the cramped and primitive consulting room that saw the treatment of many a poorly pet – only creatures small were dealt with by Alf in here!

There’s no telling children ‘don’t touch’ in the

Interactive Gallery! Designed to engage children, young and old, the pieces use fun and interaction to educate visitors about farm animals and how they interact with our lives.

Full of fascinating facts, the gallery gives visitors the opportunity to test their skills, knowledge and reflexes whilst learning how vets work with farmers to keep animals fit and well. Not just for children!

There is one installation that TV viewers particularly will recognise and that’s the ‘not to be missed’ opportunity to place your hand up a cow’s bottom! An essential skill that every vet has to learn, All Creatures Great and Small actor Christopher Timothy famously did his part on several occasions, much to the amusement of the cast, crew and viewing public!

Take a close-up look behind the scenes of a reproduced set from the BBC series All Creatures Great and Small and experience the fascinating world of the TV studio and what was involved in the making of the TV program.

You can be the star of the show! Get in front of the camera and imagine yourself as Christopher Timothy playing James Herriot, Robert Hardy as the eccentric Siegfried Farnon, Peter Davison as Tristan Farnon, or Carol Drinkwater and Lynda Bellingham who both played James’ wife Helen Herriot.

There’s an incredible array too of veterinary paraphernalia from Herriot’s time as a young vet –in an era before advances in diagnostics, modern medicine and agricultural machinery. It is the largest collection in the world.

On display is a 4,000 piece archive showcasing veterinary instruments from the past to the modern day. These items chart the history and progress of the profession over the years. Some of the instruments appear primitive but were all designed for a particular purpose, since refined and updated for the modern vet’s practice.

You can visit www.worldofjamesherriot.com for more information on the fascinating attractions plus information on the beautiful local filming locations that showed the North Yorkshire landscape at its best.

Organisers are thrilled to announce that super early bird tickets are on sale for Tramlines 2024 (Friday 26th - Sunday 28th July) costing £89.50. Only an extremely limited number of tickets are available at this price now from www.tramlines.org.uk.

40,000 revellers a day attended this year’s sold-out Tramlines which saw a secret set from McFly, headline performances from Courteeners, Richard Ashcroft, Paul Heaton, Katy B, Sugababes and homegrown Yorkshire talent in abundance with sets from Kaiser Chiefs, October Drift, Franz Von, Rumbi Tauro, and this year’s Apply To Play winner, Harri Larkin.

In typical British fashion, the heavens came down on crowds at Hillsborough Park, but the spirit of Sheffield did not waver.

Tramlines Festival Operations Director Timm Cleasby said, “"We’d like to say a massive thank you to the people of Sheffield, the City Council and especially the residents around Hillsborough Park for having us once again this year. Tramlines has grown into an incredible celebration of local, national and international music and culture and we’re delighted to play our part. We strive to meet the high expectations and needs of both festival goers and the community whose daily lives are affected by our use of the park. With the support of Sheffield City Council and the Health and Safety team, we

planned for rain and brought in extensive extra measures to meet the challenging conditions and open safely all weekend.

Our responsibility to return the park to its usual condition for the enjoyment of everyone is taken very seriously by our entire management team. We have already committed the resources necessary to achieve this as quickly as possible.

We will be on site with contractors to begin planning the work required on Monday 24th July and work will begin on Monday 31st July. We will update residents with more details in the coming days."

Aadi squirms when Dev asks him to keep his ear to the ground because rumour is that Courtney is having an affair. Paul wishes they could have a church wedding for Billy’s sake. George reiterates to Todd about the importance of winning Young Funeral Director of the Year, as he’s up against RestEasy. But Todd realises there is no pay rise and Eileen lied to him. Daisy is hurt when she attempts to chat to Ryan, but he gives her short shrift. Audrey asks Tim to double check with Elaine that she wanted Stephen evicted from the flat.

Emmerdale: Georgia reels as Jai has a go at her for never having told him Rishi isn’t his biological dad. Life’s not so great for Wendy who fears she’s ruined her relationship with Bob, who’s found out she’s been having a steamy affair with her colleague Liam. With the worst possible timing ever, Rishi chooses to tell Jai the name of his biological dad! Noah worries about Amelia who’s super stressed out about the trouble her dad Dan is in. Meanwhile Dan starts facing up to the fact he may not be around to help his teenage daughter with baby Esther for much longer. Claudette confronts Charles about his treatment of Victor.

Eastenders:

Stacey gets another message from her client, who makes it clear he knows all sorts of things about her private life. Eve warns Stacey that her client must be someone she knows and she is terrified. Kim tells an alarmed Howie that she’s going to talk about her mental health struggles on her Kimfluencer channel. When it’s clear he disapproves, a hurt Kim accuses him of not being happy with the changes she’s making in her attitude to life. Alfie is down in the dumps trying to get himself a job after failing at every turn in the Square. But then he’s contacted by the bookies! Their first choice candidate turned out to be a no show, and as second choice, they offer him the job instead.

The

MOURN PASSING OF TWO HEROES OF THE 90S

Sheffield Wednesday

are deeply saddened by the passing of Trevor Francis.

He died on Monday morning in Spain, aged 69.

Francis is an iconic figure at Hillsborough having played for and managed the club. After a glittering career taking in Birmingham City, Nottingham Forest, Manchester City,

Sampdoria, Atlanta, Rangers and QPR, the gifted forward joined Wednesday for the final chapter of his playing days in 1990.

To say ‘Tricky Trev’ made an S6 impact would be an understatement. Time and again he entered proceedings from the bench to almost singlehandedly turn games on their head.

Making 38 starts and

51 appearances as a substitute, he was a key figure in our promotion back to the top tier in 1990/91 and League Cup success of the same season.

The departure of manager Ron Atkinson opened the door for Francis to take the reins in June 1991.

During his first season in the hot seat, he led the Owls to a third-place

finish in the old Division One and both domestic cup finals the following year, when Wednesday were twice agonisingly edged out by Arsenal. Francis left Hillsborough in May 1995, leaving an indelible mark on the club’s history.

Prior to Wednesday, of course, he was widely acclaimed as the finest footballer of his generation, becoming

BéNIE IS A BLADE

The Blades have bolstered attacking options ahead of the forthcoming Premier League campaign with the signing of a highly sought-after, rising international prospect.

Bénie Traoré 20, has joined the club on a four-year-deal with United paying Swedish top-flight champions, BK Häcken, an undisclosed fee for his services.

Blades chief Paul Heckingbottom is delighted to have added firepower to the ranks,

commenting: “Bénie is an exciting young player who works really hard and uses his pace to press out of possession as well as using it as a threat by playing on the last man.

“We see Bénie as someone who has the qualities and the ability to play at the top level.”

Having spent two years playing for ASEC Mimosas in his homeland, the Ivory Coast, Traoré joined BK Häcken in January 2021 and made his senior

debut the following month, scoring his first goal shortly afterwards.

During the 2021/22 Swedish Allsvenskan campaign, Traoré made 28 appearances in all competitions, including against Aberdeen in the Europa Conference League, scoring three goals.

Traoré penned a new deal with the 2022 Allsvenskan winners last September, having returned to full fitness after a spell on the sidelines and in March

2023 the forward won his first international cap for Ivory Coast at U23s level.

In the opening weeks of the 2023/24 Allsvenskan, Traoré has been in fine form, scoring 12 goals in 14 appearances, including a first-half hattrick against Hammarby in April.

Traoré becomes United’s third signing of the summer, following Tunisian international Anis Slimane and French U21s wing-back Yasser Larouci into S2.

the first £1m British player after leaving Birmingham for Forest. He helped the Reds to successive European Cup final triumphs in 1979 against Malmo – in which he scored the winning goal – and 1980, when Forest beat Hamburg.

The Owls are also deeply saddened at the passing of our former player Chris Bart-Williams. The prodigiously talented midfielder joined the Owls in 1991 after bursting onto the scene as a teenager with Leyton Orient and went on to become an immensely popular performer in S6.

‘Bartman’ made 156 appearances for

OWLS WELCOME JUAN DELGADO

Chilean international Juan Delgado has joined Wednesday from Portuguese side Paços de Ferreira.

The South American is

ROVERS SIGN TOM NIxON

Rovers are delighted to confirm the signing of right back Tom Nixon on a season-long loan from Hull City. The 20-year-old becomes the tenth signing of the summer as he reunites with Grant McCann and Cliff Byrne, whom he worked under at Hull.

KIOSO MAKES POSH LOAN SWITCH

Rotherham United can confirm that defender Peter Kioso has joined

Wednesday across four years at the club, providing a raft of standout moments, not least a Premier League hat-trick against Southampton in April 1993.

The Sierra Leone product played a major part in the Owls’ success stories of the early 1990s, helping his side to a seventh-place top tier finish in 1993 and both the League Cup and FA Cup finals of the same year. Bart-Williams moved to Nottingham Forest in 1995 for £2.5m and proved a big hit at the City Ground, posting 230 appearances for the Reds. He went on to play

reunited with new Owls manager Xisco after the two forged ties at Spanish club Gimnàstic de Tarragona. Xisco managed Gimnàstic when Delgado was on the books in 2016. Primarily a right-back, Delgado can also operate further up the field in a wing-back role. The 30-year-old began his career with Chilean giants Colo Colo, whom he helped to the 2014

“I’m buzzing to be here,” Nixon said. “Hopefully I’ll get some game time under my belt and hit the ground running.

That’s what I’m here to do and I’m really looking forward to the season.

“It’s a massive step in my career, stepping up to this level, and hopefully I can take it all in my stride and progress.”

Nixon joined Hull as an 18-year-old after coming through the Academy of

Sky Bet League One outfit Peterborough United on a season-long loan, subject to EFL and FA ratification.

Kioso joined the Millers in the summer of 2022 from Luton Town and made 13 appearances in all competitions as the club managed to retain their Sky Bet

for Charlton Athletic, Ipswich Town, APOEL FC in Cyprus and Maltese outfit Marsaxlokk before retiring in 2006.

Bart-Williams also represented England on the international stage at Under-19, Under-21 and ‘B’ level.

More recently, he plied his trade in the USA as a coach and mentor,

running the CBW Soccer Elite.

Bart-Williams’ untimely passing mirrors that of his manager at Hillsborough Trevor Francis, who also died on this, one of the darkest days in our long history. The Owls thoughts are with Chris’ and Trevor’s families and friends at this devastating time.

league title, before going on to represent Gimnàstic, CD Tondela in Portugal on loan, Mexican side Necaxa and Paços de Ferreira. He broke into the Chile international set-up during the early part of his career at Under20 level and has since earned 13 caps for the senior team. After making his debut against Mexico in 2014, Delgado notched his first

his boyhood club Stoke City, where he captained the U18s. While yet to feature for the Tigers at senior level, Nixon spent time last season on loan with Boston United in the National League North. Rovers manager Grant McCann said: “Tom is an excellent player. I saw him first hand when I was at Hull and he was coming through the U21s.

Championship status last season.

The 23-year-old leaves South Yorkshire on a temporary basis with more regular match minutes in mind whilst with Posh.

Everyone at Rotherham United would like to wish Peter all the best for his time at London Road.

international goal facing Haiti three days later. He featured in all three of Chile’s friendly encounters this summer, against Cuba, Dominican Republic and Bolivia. With over 300 domestic appearances to his name, Delgado brings significant experience to Xisco’s backline ahead of our upcoming Championship campaign.

“He’s been in that U21 system for a while now but I think the loan he had last season at Boston has really kicked him on. He’s been around the first team all pre-season.

“He’s everything we like in a full back so I think it’s a great signing for us. He’ll enjoy his time here and he’ll bring great competition in that position.”

Nixon will wear number 16 during his time with Rovers.
