Dust off those picnics blankets, as residents and visitors from all over are invited to come and enjoy a two-day celebration 6 & 7 May, in Sheffield’s Peace Gardens which are set to be decorated in red, white and blue for the occasion.

On Saturday 6 May there will be The Lord Mayor’s Coronation Party, where you can watch all the ceremonial proceedings, processions and pageantry on a big screen, as events

are broadcast live from Westminster Abbey and Buckingham Palace.

There’ll also be an array of quintessentially British entertainment and live music to enjoy on the Peace Gardens main stage, with brass bands, swing bands and more.

On Sunday 7 May, The Coronation Concert will be also broadcast live from Windsor Castle on the big screen, with global music icons and contemporary stars performing for the historic occasion.

The centrepiece of the concert, Sheffield will join in ‘Lighting up the Nation’ as iconic locations across the United Kingdom are

lit up using projections, lasers, drone displays and illuminations.

Lots of event details are still yet to be announced, so keep an eye on the Counil’s social channels for updates.

Alongside the celebrations in the Peace Gardens, many of the city’s bars and restaurants will also be getting involved, helping to create a patriotic and celebratory atmosphere throughout the city centre and beyond. In addition to the Peace Garden plans, Sheffield City Council is also encouraging communities to to come together with their own Street Party Celebrations

and will support this (wherever possible) with road closures. Guidance on how to organise the street parties can be at www.gov.uk/government/ publications.

As part of the official celebrations nationwide,

there’s also the Coronation

Big Lunch on Sunday 7 May, where communities can come together to celebrate and on Monday 8 May, The Big Help Out will encourage everyone to get involved with volunteering.

bURIEd TREasURE fINd

A large and important hoard of 1,056 Roman silver coins, one of the largest to be found in this region, spanning approximately 192 years of Roman rule in Britain, was discovered by a metal detector user (who wishes to remain anonymous), in the Parish of Norton, Doncaster.

The hoard was reported as treasure to Amy Downes, the local Finds Liaison Officer of the British Museum’s Portable Antiquities Scheme, in 2018. Following being declared treasure by Mrs Slater, Assistant Coroner under the Treasure Act 1996, the hoard; including fragments of the pottery vessel they were buried in, has been purchased by Heritage Doncaster, on behalf of the people of the City of Doncaster. This was made possible with support from the Arts Council

England/V&A Purchase

Grant Fund, The Headley Museums Archaeological Acquisitions Fund and the Friends of Doncaster Museums, with match funding from a private bequest to Heritage Doncaster. The hoard contains coins from 18 Roman Emperors, and in some instances their wives and even mothers!

The earliest coins of Mark Anthony, date back to 32BC, almost two hundred years older than the last coins of Severus Alexander. Present amongst the hoard are coins of the emperor Nero, famous for ‘fiddling whilst Rome Burned’; Hadrian, architect of the famous wall named after him, which divided Britannia (Roman Britain) from the Barbarian people of Caledonia (Scotland), Commodus, famed for his love of Gladiatorial games and Septimius Severus and his wife Julia Domna; the North African imperial

couple who famously set up their imperial residence in York, whilst Severus campaigned in Scotland. The circumstances surrounding the burial of the hoard, which can be dated to some-time after 231 AD (based on the latest datable coins in the hoard), will forever remain a mystery. The hoard was found in what would have been a rural, farming landscape in the Roman period, well away from any of the major Roman Towns. Peter Robinson, Collections and Exhibitions Officer (Archaeology) at Heritage Doncaster, added: “It is thanks to metal detector users and other members of the public, dedicated to researching and going out searching for our shared past, and reporting their finds to the Portable Antiquities Scheme, that such wonderful and important finds come to light. We’re delighted that we’ve been able to acquire this treasure so that everyone can enjoy and learn from their heritage.”

Mayor of Doncaster, Ros Jones, said: “What an incredible find. This hoard of Roman coins provides a glimpse into the history of Roman Britain from 1,800 years ago. It allows us to imagine how such a valuable asset came to be buried in the first place and now this treasure will be a part of Doncaster’s history forever.” Professor Michael Lewis of the British Museum stated “The British Museum is very pleased that this important find has been acquired for public display. The Portable Antiquities Scheme is an essential part of the Museum’s work across the country, recording finds made by the public and ensuring those that are Treasure are acquired by museums for the public to learn about and enjoy.”

In 2022, there were over 1.3 billion malware programmes in existence and 10% of these were computer viruses, according to research from the AV-Test Institute. A computer virus may spread from one device to another, take over your software and steal information that can be held at ransom. Spam emails, instant messaging, file-sharing devices, fake antivirus downloads, unpatched software and infected hardware are the ways in which viruses can infect your computer. Cybersecurity experts reveal six common symptoms of having a computer virus and how to remove it. Six signs of a computer virus

1. Slow performance

If you’re questioning whether your computer has a virus, observing its performance is one of the first tell-tale signs. As long as you’re regularly updating and taking care of it, your device should work soundly. Malicious code, however, typically hijacks computing power and may lead to unbearably slow performance.

2. Freeze-ups and crashing There are multiple reasons why your laptop might be crashing. It may be time to restart it, close down one of the many windows you have open or buy a new one – but it could also be a sign your computer has a virus.

3. Missing files Malware has been known to delete important data. Once it has infiltrated your device, you may receive multiple pop-ups and notice your files are missing. Don’t ignore this

– it’s a tell-tale sign of a virus that should be taken seriously.

4. New files appear In addition to missing files, you may also notice new files mysteriously appearing. Viruses can replace your files with encrypted ones, although these are likely malicious and will only further harm your device if you click on them.

5. Problems with hardware Viruses have been known to cause system changes that affect external hardware and accessories. If you can’t get that USB drive and wireless mouse to connect properly or work as it should, for example, it could be a sign of a virus.

6. Computer operating by itself

Computers are complex machines, but they shouldn’t be executing demands without your authorisation. If you’re noticing that your device is acting unusually –maybe files are opening by themselves or it feels like another person is controlling your computer – you may have a virus. How to remove a virus from your computer

1. Download an antivirus programme

To remove a virus from your computer, start by downloading an antivirus programme. These will offer you effective real-time protection against malware. There are countless options to choose from.

2. Disconnect the internet Malware often spread viruses through the internet, which can lead to multiple devices becoming infected. To stop this from happening, disconnect from the Wi-Fi

network.

3. Run a virus scan

Run a virus scan using your chosen antivirus programme. This will likely detect the virus infecting your computer and remove it. If the scan fails, you may wish to remove it manually by using the Windows Registry or launching your activity monitor on a Mac.

4. Check for updates

Next, check for any recent updates on your computer. Windows and Mac regularly release these to keep your device as secure as possible from cyberattacks.

5. Enable your firewall Firewalls help protect your device from any unauthorised access. These are usually included in your antivirus software, so remember to enable it by going into System Preferences or the Windows Start menu. A spokesperson commented: “Cybercriminals are developing more ways to steal data, money and cryptocurrency. By understanding the tell-tale signs of a virus, consumers and companies can protect themselves from the dangers of malware both at home and in the workplace. Downloading a reliable antivirus software, updating your computer, adjusting your privacy setting and installing a firewall and anti-malware apps are all ways you can defend yourself . You should also avoid opening suspicious email attachments. If any of the above symptoms persists, it’s good practice to address the problem as soon as possible and take your device to a professional.”

2023 Launch of TramLines TrusT wiTh granTs of up To £500 avaiL abLe for LocaL causes

Launched last year, The Tramlines Trust is now ready to receive 2023 applications. Local charities, grassroots community organisations and projects are invited to apply to the Trust for grants of up to £500 (some projects may be eligible for up to £1,000 in certain circumstances).

The deadline for applications is July 3rd 2023. In 2022 there were 42 successful applications who received a total of £30k with over £10k going to businesses directly benefiting Hillsborough including The Burton St Foundation, S6 Foodbank and Hillsborough Hornets Disability Football Club.

Since 2018 Tramlines has raised £150k, in addition to supporting the Tramlines Trust this has also been donated to The Sarah Nulty Power of Music Foundation, Hillsborough Primary School, NSPCC, S6 Foodbank and many more causes.

The Tramlines Trust supports projects which sit within four key areas. Local CommunityThis relates to projects local to Sheffield which enhance, educate or support the local community.

Future Generations - This area is focussed on supporting young people who would like to gain insight into the events and creative industries. People and Planet - This relates to projects that are involved in improving or raising awareness for issues like homelessness, environment, physical and mental health. South Yorkshire Art and Culture - This relates to projects which promote the music, art and culture of the region. Successful applicants from 2022 are welcome to apply again in 2023.

For more information please visit - tramlines.org.uk/tramlines-inthe-community/the-tramlinestrust/

The Tramlines Trust is part of ‘Tramlines in the Community’, a wider initiative that includes commitments to keeping the festival accessible, continuing to improve Hillsborough Park and supporting the Hillsborough community. In 2023 Tramlines is working with Tickets for Good. Tickets for Good is a Sheffield

based national organisation that distributes free and discounted event tickets to NHS staff, medical students and charity workers. Eligible people can sign-up to Tickets for Good here in advance of the Tramlines tickets being made available.

More information on Tramlines in the Community can be found here - https://tramlines.org.uk/ tramlines-in-the-community/

Charlie Barton, Marketing and Community Engagement Manager - ‘We’re really excited to be launching our second round of Tramlines Trust funding grant applications. In 2022 we doubled our fundraising and support for charitable causes and we can’t wait to continue this for 2023. Being able to collaborate with and support Sheffield and Hillsborough organisations is a big priority for us all and we’re looking forward to reviewing this year’s applications.’

Clare Mappin, Managing Director - Burton Street Foundation - ‘Burton Street

Foundation received a donation from Tramlines Trust in 2022 to purchase some new equipment for our Sensory Room. Burton Street works with adults 18 upwards and children from the age of 7 with learning and physical disabilities. Many of our clients love the time they spend in our Sensory Room. The donation we received last year was used for large bean bags and a big new bubble tube: items that lots of our clients use and enjoy. Thank you to everyone at Tramlines Trust we appreciate your support and the

very best of luck with Tramlines 2023.’

Tramlines Festival takes place from 21st - 23rd July at Hillsborough Park in Sheffield. Over five stages of music, comedy and performance, a familyfriendly area packed with quirky things to do, the best festival food around, bespoke craft beer and ale, vintage clothes stores, and roaming entertainment, there’s a lot to love about Tramlines. The 2022 festival was a sell-out so the advice is to be super quick for this last batch of Weekend tickets.

Sheffield United have issued an appeal for restraint as they enter an exciting end to this successful season...

As we approach the closing stages of another exciting season across EFL, there remains plenty to play for with titles, silverware, promotion, play-off and relegation places all at stake.

The passionate support of fans is a vital part of what makes football so special in this country. It is completely understandable that emotions run high, particularly at this stage of the season when there is so much to play for. However, we must remind supporters that in the interests of safety and wellbeing for everyone inside our stadiums, the pitch is for players, managers and officials, while the stands are there for fans to support their team.

Bannan and Windass in League One Team Of The seasOn

At the end of last season, we witnessed some unwelcome scenes when fans entered the field of play without permission at several grounds. Even if this is done in celebratory fashion, any supporter who comes onto the pitch is breaking the law and putting the welfare of players, coaches, club staff and fellow fans at risk.

We know that this unacceptable behaviour is carried out by a minority of fans, and their actions do not represent most supporters, but they risk ruining the fantastic experience of a football match for everyone.

At the start of this season, the Premier League, EFL and The FA worked with the Football Supporters’ Association to introduce new measures and stronger sanctions to tackle anti-social and criminal behaviours, such as entering the pitch and Barry Bannan and Josh Windass have been named in the Sky Bet League One Team of the Season.

At a glitzy ceremony on Sunday night at the Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, the Wednesday duo were

the use of pyrotechnics.

This includes automatic club bans and police action, and we have seen cases this season which have led to fans receiving criminal records. This can impact employment and education prospects, restrict ability to travel overseas, and could result in a prison sentence. Club bans can also extend to accompanying parents or guardians of children who take part in this activity.

As we reach the exciting culmination of another thrilling football season, we want fans to continue to show their positive support as this can make all the difference to a team’s fortunes.

But our message is clear: fans must stay in the stands and avoid any unnecessary disruption at such a crucial point of the season, with Blades boss Paul Heckingbottom commenting:

“The problem is times in attendance to receive their awards.

Both Bannan and Windass have been key players in the Owls’ bid for promotion to the Championship.

The skipper has featured 43 times for Wednesday this season, chipping in with seven goals and 12 assists.

The heartbeat of our team in the engine room, Bannan has five goal contributions from our last five outings, including two stunning hits against Oxford and Bristol

have changed. Fans coming on the pitch, I appreciate most want to celebrate. I’ve done it, back when I was a kid. I went on the pitch to celebrate. But not everyone is like that anymore. That’s the problem. It is no longer safe.

“I experienced it as a player. I got caught by fans in the play-offs, when with Barnsley at Huddersfield (in 2006). We won 3-1 and the fans came on. I think Bobby Hassell got hit that night. That has always made me wary when people come on the pitch.

“There needs to be a plan, as we’re coming into that part of the season when pitch invasions start happening. We need to be ready or something will happen.

“People keep saying, ‘We need to change’. But what are we going to do?”

Rovers.

The Owls captain was also shortlisted for the League One Player of the Year and Goal of the Season awards. Windass also lined up in the League One XI attack. The forward has registered 15 goals and eight assists from 38 appearances this season. Sidelined since midMarch after sustaining a foot injury in our 1-1 draw with Bolton, Windass is expected to resume training with the squad this week.

On a day when points outweighed performance, Darren Moore was pleased with the character his players showed in coming back from a goal behind to beat Exeter.

Callum Paterson scored the winner at Hillsborough after Lee Gregory cancelled out Josh Key’s opener to keep the Owls’ promotion hopes alive. Moore told swfc.co.uk: “The result was the most

Millers boss Matt Taylor was disappointed with the nature of his side’s last gasp reversal at the hands of Bristol City, but he was quick to state that their status in England’s second tier was still very much in their hands with just three games to go.

Danny Schofield said the manner in which Rovers surrendered the lead against Newport County summed up the pattern of the season for his side.

Rovers led courtesy of Kyle Hurst’s strike but ultimately fell to a 3-1 defeat at the Eco-Power Stadium.

Schofield on how the game played out:

“It’s difficult. We’re in a difficult moment with the results not going the way we want them to.

I felt there were lots of positives going into half time, leading the game.

“The goals we conceded were really poor. Two

important thing today and we got that.

“It was all about the win and the boys showed character, togetherness and unity to come back and win the game.

“We had words at half time, all of us as a group, because it was a bit of a nothing performance in that first half. The goal that Exeter scored straight after half time sparked us into life really and when we got the first goal I had no doubt we

Jordan Hugill’s spot kick looked set to give the Millers a valuable point in their Sky Bet Championship survival fight but sub Andi Weimann left them empty-handed with he popped up with a late winner.

“It was a cruel blow at the end, especially on the back of that second-half performance. I didn’t like us first half. I thought we were off the pace in too many areas. The only blessing at half-time was that it was only one-nil despite our performance levels. We cannot afford to start the way we did.

“It gave us the opportunity to change long throws into the box and a goal where we were in possession of the ball then give it away and it leads to a counter attack. It seems to be the story of the season. Some of the goals we have conceded are not acceptable.

“We knew the threats and the long throw was a major threat that Newport would pose us and we didn’t have the capability to deal with those moments.

“I felt in the first half we dealt with the direct play well - won the first and got on the second balls. But long throws and set plays are a massive part of football and we’re falling short in the physical component of it.”

On not holding onto the lead:

“We spoke at half time about managing the game in certain moments and certain situations. I said to them that we’ve all got to be accountable, individually, and that

would get the second.

“That win gives us 90 points for the season so it’s credit to everyone really. Ninety points after 44 games is a great tally and while it’s mathematically possible we will continue to go after automatic promotion.”

The gaffer was pleased to see Michael Ihiekwe return as a second half substitute and also issued an update on the fitness of Josh Windass:

it in the second half. We certainly did that and we were much improved with our overall movement and our use of the ball. We were the better team in the second half. Sometimes goals go against you and it hurts more when it was so late. “We worked so hard to get ourselves back in the game. We were back level and we had more opportunities to possibly go ahead. We chased the game from half-time onwards and we chased it pretty well. All the substitutes made a difference for us.

“For the winning goal, it was a clearance from a corner. We did not cover includes everyone in the coaching staff and the players. You have to step up in those moments and be capable - whether you’re managing the game, dealing with a long throw. We didn’t, and we fell short.

“There was a lot of choice words between the players, which is good. They’re demanding more from each other and the players are fighting to make sure we can improve and ensure these moments are better.”

On the remainder of the season: “We’ve got to keep working. We’ve got to move forward quickly into Colchester and put on a performance the supporters can be proud of. The players are giving everything but we’re just falling short in key moments.”

On the vitriol from the stands: “It’s not ideal and it’s not what you want to hear as a head coach. It’s part and parcel of

“I’m delighted for Icky because you can see the quality he brings to the team. He said to me after the game that it meant the world to be back out there so he will get some good rest tonight and hopefully he will be fine.

“With Josh, he will be back out on the grass next week. He will have a lot of tests to come through successfully before we consider him but it will be a big positive to see him back out there with the group.”

the space well enough. It was an incredible header from Woody, but unfortunately it goes straight up in the air and Cohen (Bramall) and Woody collide and then a ricochet off Viktor (Johansson), so a little bit of luck was against us in the last minutes of the game.

“It hurts right now because we’ve taken nothing from the game. The pressure will build to whatever is next but we have to approach it like we did in the second half. We looked a good side in the second half. We will take a positive feeling from that second half performance.”

this role - if you’re not winning football games, it’s going to come. It’s down to me to rally the players for these last two games and really fight for the shirt they’re wearing and restore pride and positivity to performances and hopefully results.

“I’ve said before, internally and where the club wants to go and achieve a vision, it’s really positive. I’ve no doubts that the club is going to move forward in the right direction. That’s something the supporters can hold onto, even if we’re going through a difficult time at the moment.

“It’s very emotional for me, after suffering defeats and the run of form that we’re on at the moment is very difficult. It is tough to take but I’ve got to brush it off and keep working hard with the staff and get the supporters back on board because that is what they deserve.”
