South Yorkshire’s Mayor Oliver Coppard and the Chief Executive of South Yorkshire’s Community Foundation (SYCF), Ruth Willis have launched a fund to support the region through the cost of living crisis.

The South Yorkshire Cost of Living Fund was created by SYCF to fund community groups to deliver projects alleviating the impact of the crisis. The Fund has now reached more than £3,000 with people – who can and want to – donating their energy rebate, or whatever they want to give.

South Yorkshire’s Mayor

Oliver Coppard said: “As we head into winter, I know just how many people in South Yorkshire are worrying about feeding their families or heating their homes. Our communities shouldn’t have to face those challenges alone.

“That’s why I’m working with the South Yorkshire Community Foundation to ask people to donate what they can from their energy rebate; so we can get money directly to those groups and organisations helping people through this crisis, doing incredible, important work across our region. “We’re a community

that has always helped each other through the toughest of times, and this is just another example of who we are; a place where we look after each other.”

In South Yorkshire, one in three children are living in poverty. The region also has some of the highest rates of fuel poverty in the country, with almost 1 in 5 house holds struggling to afford to warm their home.

Ruth Willis, Chief Executive of SYCF said: “Cost of living is affecting many people in our region through increases in food prices, fuel poverty and energy bills.

“We hope that the donations

OF

made will strike a chord with people who want to help their local community by directing their energy bill rebate to those who need it.

“As the largest grants giving organisation in the region, we’ve seen the demand for support as shown by the vast applications for the Sheffield Cost of Living Fund and it’s clear that a region wide campaign will require major funding. We would encourage anyone who wants to donate their energy bill rebate and all South Yorkshire stakeholders to come together and support this Fund.”

Community Groups from

across South Yorkshire help ing people through the cost of living crisis will be able to apply for grants from the fund to support their work.

In May earlier this year, SYCF launched its Sheffield Cost of Living Fund, with £20,000 given by Sheffield City Council. More than thirty groups applied for grants – the total value of the ap plications was £145,000.

A JustGiving page has been launched to collect donations. To donate, please visit: https://www. justgiving.com/campaign/ SouthYorkshireCostOfLivingFund

Council to consider purchase and transformation of former Adelphi Cinema building in Attercliffe

The purchase of the former Adelphi Cinema building in Attercliffe is to be discussed at the Finance Sub-Committee this month. They will meet on Monday, November 7, to consider plans to acquire and refurbish the building with Levelling Up funding.

In October 2021, Sheffield City Council successfully bid for Levelling Up funding for two projects: Attercliffe and Gateway to Sheffield. The city was awarded £37m, with £17m allocated to Attercliffe and the other £20m to Gateway to Sheffield –encompassing the Castlegate site.

As part of the ambitious plans for Attercliffe, the Council proposes to use some of the funding to acquire the former Adelphi Cinema and land on Attercliffe Road, with plans to transform it into a community space.

Cllr Julie Grocutt, Co-Chair of the Transport, Regeneration and Climate Policy Committee, said: “For a long time residents and those working in Attercliffe have lost pride in the area and its sense of community has declined. I’m certain the transformation of the former Adelphi Cinema into a community space which promotes culture and improves residents’ quality of life and wellbeing would be a welcomed step in the right direction. As a Council we are committed to changing perceptions of Attercliffe and injecting new life and a sense of pride back into the area. I look forward to seeing positive changes for Attercliffe.”

A considerable amount of work is required on the Adelphi Cinema building to get it to a habitable state to be taken over by an operator. The land on Attercliffe Road is believed to be in fair condition and unlikely to need significant work.

If the Council decides

to pursue the acquisition of the property, refurbishment can begin almost immediately once it is purchased. Marketing for the operator or owner of the transformed building will run at the same time to ensure a quick turnaround for the area. Interested parties can contact Alan Seasman at Sheffield City Council for an initial discussion. Overall, the Attercliffe bid aims to create a welcoming environment, strengthen the sense of community and stimulate investment which in turn improves the lives and wellbeing of residents.

As well as the transformation of the Adelphi building, the proposals also focus on the Centre for Child Health Technology at the Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park (SOLP) which sees Sheffield City Council working in partnership with Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust and Scarborough Group International to create the world’s most advanced and integrated healthcare system for children.

In addition, the funding will be used to contribute to improving connectivity in the area, including creating better connections between Attercliffe High Street and the SOLP, a new cycle hub at SOLP and improvements to streets to make them more welcoming.

There’s been a flood of Sheffield bands announcing huge hometown shows in recent weeks including arctic Monkeys, Def Leppard and Little Man Tate.

The latest Steel City stalwarts to declare a return are Britpop icons, Glastonbury headliners and purveyors of anthems such as Common People and Year 2000, Pulp. They have performed three sell-out Arena shows in Sheffield with ‘A Different Class Tour’ in 1995 and 1996, and the Reunion Tour in 2012… and now they are pleased

to announce a series of shows for 2023, with their homecoming shows at Utilita Arena Sheffield arriving 14 and 15 July 2023!

The show will be supported by Richard Hawley, once a member of Pulp, he has collaborated with Arctic Monkeys, Manic Street Preachers, Elbow, and Paul Weller.

Over the summer, Jarvis Cocker confirmed the band would be hitting the road next year for their first gigs together since 2012! Nick Banks, Pulp’s drummer, told fans to “stay calm, hug your Pulp records and dream of

going mental sometime in 2023”.

“Three months ago, we asked, What exactly do you do for an encore? Well… An encore happens when the crowd makes enough noise to bring the band back to the stage. So… we are playing in the UK & Ireland in 2023 Therefore… come along & make some noise. See you there”

South Yorkshire’s police and fire services are urging people to be fire safe and 999 wise around Halloween and Bonfire Night this autumn.

This comes after the county’s firefighters saw an increase in call outs on Bonfire Night last year, compared to previous ‘Dark Night’ periods.

Crews were called to 96 incidents on Friday 5 No vember last year, compared to 80 on the same date in 2020 – an increase of 20 percent.

Many of these call outs involved bonfires that had grown out of control, and trees that had been set on fire by stray fireworks. Others involved cars and wheelie bins being set alight.

“We never aim to ruin anyone’s fun.”

“We always want people to enjoy Bonfire Night, and we never aim to ruin anyone’s fun, but it’s really important people are careful out there,” said Area Manager Matt Gillatt, head of the joint police and fire community safety department.

“This year we’re specifically asking people to stay with their bonfires, as leaving them unattended tends to end badly. We’re also asking people to ensure they are sensible in how they position their fireworks, so they are away from bushes and trees.

“Finally, we’d like to ask that people bring their bins in from off the street, and let us have any informa tion on deliberate fire-setting that they may have.

“These details can be shared with us anonymously via our FireStoppers service – people just need to call 0800 169 5558 or visit firestoppersreport. co.uk.”

Since the start of October, police and fire staff have been doing joint patrols and visits to local schools and community centres, offering advice around Halloween and bonfire safety.

Meanwhile senior officers from South Yorkshire Police are also assuring local residents that they will be taking a no-tolerance approach to anti-social behaviour this year.

“We are here for you if you need us.”

The force lead for what is known collectively as Operation Dark Nights, Chief Inspector Lee Carlson,

said: “We want everybody to enjoy Halloween and Bonfire night; we know it can be an enjoyable time of the year for most people, but for some the festivities alongside the darker nights can make them feel vulnerable.

“We want you to know that whilst the majority of people will enjoy the period without any issues, the few people that do want to cause a problem will not be tolerated and our extra officers will be there to deal with them.

“Our Neighbourhood officers have already been in schools talking to young people about antisocial behaviour and the effect it can have on people living near them, as well as giving them guidance around keeping safe during dark nights.

“We hope you will all enjoy Halloween and Bonfire night and respect everybody around you. We will have officers out conducting extra patrols and we are here for you if you need us.”

The force is asking people to check who the right service is to contact about anti-social behaviour is sues. Often things such as noise pollution are dealt with by local councils.

Anybody that needs the police or fire service in an emergency is still encouraged to call 999, and the police can be contacted on 101 around non-urgent issues.

As we approach the winter months, the colder weather and darker mornings and evenings can have an impact on our mood. Many of us are familiar with the winter blues, also known as winter depression, or seasonal affective disorder (SAD) which is thought to affect 1 in 15 people in the UK. Despite the fact that millions of people report experiencing winter-related low mood, there are many misconceptions about this issue, possibly due to the fact that symptoms can vary so much from person to person. SAD occurs more commonly in people living in northern latitudes and is also more commonly experienced by women. SAD is characterised by a low mood you can’t shake off during the winter months. It can affect your emotional wellbeing so much that you lose interest in things you usually enjoy.

People can experience winter blues in various degrees, ranging from feeling a bit down to finding it very difficult to function which may lead to take time off work. SAD also occurs more commonly in people living in northern latitudes and is also more commonly experienced by women. Similar to depression, symptoms of

SAD include some, but not necessarily all, of the following:

• Persistent low mood

• Loss of pleasure or interest in normal everyday activities

• Irritability

• Feelings of despair, guilt and worthlessness

• Lethargy (lacking in energy) and feeling sleepy during the day

• Sleeping for longer than normal and finding it hard to get up in the morning

• Craving carbohydrates and gaining weight

If you think that you are experiencing winter depression or SAD, Nuffield Health’s Mental Health Prevention Lead, Lisa Gunn gives her top tips on how to manage the effects and deal with the symptoms. More exposure to sunlight!

Given the problem is associated with a lack of sunlight – the first tip is to spend more time in the sun, even a brief lunchtime walk can be beneficial. You can also make your work and home environments as light and airy as possible and sit near windows when you’re indoors. Access to sunlight and increased Vitamin D is likely to boost your mood.

Light therapy

Although the research in this area is mixed, some people find that light

therapy can help improve their mood considerably.

This involves sitting by a special lamp called a light box, usually for around 30 minutes to an hour each morning.

Light boxes come in a variety of designs, including desk lamps and wall-mounted fixtures.

They produce a very bright light. The intensity of the light is measured in lux – the higher lux, the brighter the light.

Dawn-simulating alarm clocks, which gradually light up your bedroom as you wake up, may also be useful for some people.

It’s thought the light may improve symptoms by encouraging your brain to reduce the production of melatonin (a hormone that makes you sleepy) and increase the production of serotonin (a hormone that affects your mood).

Eat well

It’s also important to eat well during the winter. Winter blues can make you crave sugary foods and carbohydrates such as chocolate, pasta and bread, but don’t forget to include plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables in your diet. Nutrition plays a big role in how we feel.

Having a varied balanced diet can set you on a path to improve your symptoms. Eating plenty of fruits, vegetables and healthy fats will give you more energy and prevent you from feeling sluggish. Get active!

Activity has even more benefits for emotional wellbeing with research consistently showing how it can help to improve mood. It also helps by providing a pleasant change of scenery, as well as the opportunity to meet new people.

Being outside doing exercises will boost your mood and will make you feel more connected to your surroundings. It also helps you gain perspective, particularly spending time in nature.

Stay connected People can go out less in winter due to poor weather and dark

nights. The urge to ‘hibernate’ can result in people becoming withdrawn and spending less time with others.

Social connections are key to our wellbeing. Biologically isolation is toxic to the human nervous system. Lack of human connection puts our mental and physical health at risk. Having meaningful relationships and being able to give to others can greatly improve our resilience.

Our bodies release feelgood chemicals such as oxytocin and dopamine when we are connected and engaged in positive interactions with others.

It is important to think about how to maintain these vital connections during the winter months. Get a good night’s sleep Sleep and mood are closely connected and getting good quality sleep can help to improve mood. One of the most effective ways to do this is to develop a regular sleep routine. As adults this is often something we forget, but ‘training’ ourselves to wake and go to sleep the same time can be helpful, as can creating a relaxing routine before bed. It can also help to avoid strenuous physical activity before bed and going to sleep on a full stomach or hungry as these can all interrupt sleep. Consider having a food buffer and eating your main meal a few hours before bed. If you do start to get hungry before bed, then consider a small snack. You should also consider limiting caffeine, nicotine and alcohol as they are stimulants and work to keep us awake. They can also cause fragmented sleep and breaks in our natural sleep cycles.

Another good tip is to take all electric devices out of the bedroom, as even small amounts of light can affect our sensitive ‘circadian rhythms’ or natural body clocks.

REMEMbER wITH CHIldREN

Remembrance Day is a day in the calendar year where collectively the country comes together to think about those who have died during service. During times of public reflection it can be especially difficult for children, thinking about their personal losses. At this time of year schools may do something around Remembrance Day in a lesson, or they may hold a special service and this can be challenging for young people. However, it may also be really comforting for young people to feel that others are honouring their person who has died this Remembrance Day. Spending time as family to discuss your thoughts about these days can be useful. If the bereavement is a military death, there may be mixed feelings from families and young people about attending a service or ceremony, and there is no right or wrong answer. If young people are not keen to go, it’s worth exploring if there are other ways of remembering that they would like to try. Winston’s Wish have shared an activity suitable for children to help them remember their important person. You could even get involved in this activity too and create your own tree.

Make a button tree When there is a bereavement in a family it can help to think about who we have around us and recognise the person who has died still has a place in our family. Creating a button tree reminds us of the branches of our family and helps young people to think about who is closest to

them. Using creative ways to remember can help young people express themselves who may not be able to put their feelings into words. To do this you’ll need a selection of different shaped and sized buttons (you could use shells, different shapes of dried pasta – anything with various shapes you have available at home), pva glue, a canvas or cardboard, colouring pens or pipe cleaners.

Start by making a list of all the people you want on your button tree. Next choose a button (or object you’ve chosen instead) to represent each of these people. If you want to, place your buttons next to the right names and take a picture so you remember who is who. Then design your tree - and then trace the design onto the final board. You can be as creative as you wish – this is your design!

Draw the tree using a permanent marker, a washable pen is fine too but it will fade over time. Position all of your buttons where you want them on the tree, then stick down with the glue.

You could use this as an opportunity to talk to the young person whilst you’re making your trees or once you’ve both finished. It’s interesting to think about why certain buttons have been chosen to represent people, or why they have been added in that place to their tree. Its only when the process finishes we can begin to find meaning or create a story around the tree. Creative activities can be very helpful in both remembering and creating understanding.

OwlTHORpE fIElds

This is a press release from the Owlthorpe Fields Action Group: On 26th October Clive Betts MP wrote to local residents giving the amazing and most welcome news that the remaining two sites of Owlthorpe Fields will now NOT be built on, subject to final approval and sign off of the new Sheffield Local Plan by the Council and Planning Inspectorate. There will be a City wide public consultation in January, where the publics’ view will be taken into account, so it is really important that you support the decision to protect Owlthorpe Fields at that consultation.

For 4 long years

Owlthorpe Fields Action Group (OAG) have worked tirelessly to achieve this goal; words cannot express how delighted and overwhelmed we are with this news.

We have endured a range of emotions during our campaign: elation when the Planning Committee of Sheffield City Council overwhelmingly rejected the first planning application; sadness and anger when the appeal was granted by the Government Planning Inspectorate - overturning the democratic decision of our local council; devastation when the bulldozers moved in and hundreds of trees were felled to clear the site for development.

We’ve laughed, cried, worried and ‘Zoomed’ together, but here we are after 4 years, looking forward to what we hope will be the beginning of a new chapter for Owlthorpe Fields. Many times we felt ready to give up – but we supported each other, we rallied, we gathered our energies and fought on, knowing the sites were worth saving. We recognised their ecological value, their contribution to reversing the devastating biodiversity loss in Sheffield and the UK generally, and their contribution to tackling the global climate emergency. So, we set about proving their true worth. We started by recording the flora and fauna of the fields and then commissioned a professional habitat survey. The combined data clearly demonstrated that the sites met the criteria for designation as a local wildlife site (LWS). This designation was granted in August. We are extremely grateful to those within the Council who have reviewed our evidence and recognised the true ecological importance of these rewilded sites. During our campaign we strived always to be polite and factual and were prepared to listen to alternative points of view with respect; this, we feel, has been reciprocated.

A spectacular line-up of some of the world’s best professional dancers will be hitting the road next year for the 2023 official Strictly Come Dancing: The Professionals UK Tour, calling in at the Utilita Arena in Sheffield on Friday 3rd May 2023.

This breathtaking show, featuring a 10-strong ensemble of dancers from the smash hit BBC One TV show Strictly Come Dancing, will open at Hull’s Bonus Arena on 2 May and then waltz its way around the UK before culminating at Liverpool’s M&S Arena on 30 May. Tickets will go on-sale on 4 November from StrictlyTheProfessionals.com.

Audiences across the country will enjoy an evening of world-class dance, stunning choreography and glamorous costumes, live and up close from 10 talented Strictly Professionals: Australian Open Champion and 2018 finalist Dianne Buswell; new Strictly dancer and 11-time Italian Latin American Champion Vito Coppola; Chinese National Dance Champion Carlos Gu (who is also new to Strictly this year), Professional World Mambo Champion and

2020 Strictly finalist Karen Hauer; undefeated four-time British National Champion Neil Jones; six-time Italian Latin & Ballroom Champion Nikita Kuzmin; 2017 & 2020 Strictly finalist Gorka Marquez; four-time Italian Dance Championship winner Luba Mushtuk; Polish Open Latin Champion Jowita Przystal; and World Latin Dance Championships Under 21 finalist Nancy Xu.

The 31-date tour, directed by Strictly’s Creative Director Jason Gilkison, will showcase the exceptional talent of TV’s hugely popular professional dancers, set within the wonderful world of the BBC show, with its stunning costumes and sparkling sets.

Jason said: “It is fantastic to unveil this stellar line-up of much-loved Strictly professional dancers for next year’s tour. We will be dazzling audiences across the country with the dance and choreography at the highest possible standard. To see these dancers coming together to perform on this scale is a joy for me as a director and Strictly fans are in for a real treat!”

Goals from Iliman Ndiaye and Oli McBurnie saw United return to winning ways with a deserved victory on Saturday lunchtime.

The two early goals paved the way for the success over Carlos Corberán’s Baggies, but the clean sheet will have pleased everyone of a red and white persuasion as much as the maximum points haul.

Boss Heckingbottom made three changes for the trip to The Hawthorns, with McBurnie, Doyle and Ndiaye all returning to the starting XI, as Sharp, Brewster and McAtee dropped to the bench, where they were joined by the fit-again Stevens.

The Blades enjoyed plenty of early possession and fashioned the first chance of the game after just seven minutes, but after Baldock had won the ball back, Norwood curled an attempt high and wide from a promising position, but at the other end, Phillips should have done much better after Furlong’s

ball saw him race in behind Osborn.

In the 11th minute, United hit the front with an excellent goal. Doyle’s pass saw Baldock get the better of Townsend and despite a miskick from McBurnie, NDIAYE was perfectly positioned to show great composure and slot the ball into the bottom corner as Palmer scrambled across his line.

Midway through the first half, United deservedly double their advantage with an even better second goal. Following Basham’s tackle, Ndiaye got the better of Furlong and Livermore, ran at the Albion defence before feeding MCBURNIE and the Scottish international showed great technique to manipulate the ball back on to his right foot before placing an effort behind the dive of Palmer.

Despite the concession of two early goals, the home side responded positively, with Furlong’s long throws and a flurry of corners pushing United back. Diangana tried his

luck from distance, before Ahmedhodžić was booked for bringing down Grant, before Davies was called into action to deny Phillips. Before half-time, Ndiaye broke the offside trap only to see his shot deflected behind for a corner. Albion forced a couple more late corners, but McBurnie cleared both and on the second occasion then stood tall to clear the danger from Diangana’s cross.

Albion had the first chance of the second period but Davies was equal to a tame effort from the onrushing Grant, before the Blades had three openings of their own. Ndiaye hit the side-netting having latched on to Doyle’s through ball following Norwood tackle, the influential midfielder than curled an effort of his own inches wides, before the Manchester City loanee powered a strike over on the angle.

United made their first chance with 25 minutes remaining, as Brewster replaced Fleck, a switch that saw Ndiaye drop into

a slightly deeper role. The hosts were refusing to give this one up, Molumby fired wide from distance, before Grant was unable to make contact with a low cross from Phillips.

Brewster appeared to pull up clutching his hamstring, but Albion played on and Swift’s curling effort would have added insult to injury had it beaten Davies, thankfully it drifted wide of the far post, as the former Liverpool striker was replaced by Sharp.

Baldock also made way as Robinson entered the fray prompting a defensive reshuffle. Davies was then alert to beat away a shot from Molumby.

As the clock ticked down, Stevens was introduced for his first appearance since the opening day of the season, as Basham was withdrawn, but United were fully deserving of three valuable points and a first win in seven matches following an excellent defensive showing, although Thomas-Asante missed a sitter late on.

UNDUP

GOALS FROm ALL ANGLES

After Wednesday dismantled Burton at Hillsborough, Darren Moore hailed the versatility of his squad. The Owls boasted four different scorers against the Brewers and the manager gave a nod to the goals from all angles: “We are not reliant on one striker or two, we can score goals from all over the pitch. If the strikers don’t score then you know the goals can come from somewhere else, from all areas.

“We can go down both

sides, over the top or through the middle. We built this squad with versatility in mind and it’s showing with the number of goals we are scoring.”

At the other end of the park, the Owls conceded two late goals to take the gloss from what was otherwise a comfortable victory.

Moore said: “I was really pleased with the three points and the goals but obviously I’m not happy with conceding the two goals we did.

“I felt they were lapses

of concentration and probably because we were 4-0 up and effectively we had the game won.

“But it shows that psychologically you can never switch off, you have to maintain that focus right to the last kick of the game.”

Wednesday now take a break from League One duty as they prepare for successive cup games against Morecambe and then Southampton.

Moore added: “We have two very different games

in cup competition coming up and they are games we are really looking forward to.

“They will be very different games and we want to win them both.

“We are back in on Monday to begin preparations for Friday night and then we have the long trip to Southampton.

“We can look back on a good day’s work this afternoon in the league and then move our focus to the cups.”

IT WAS A DIFFICULT AFTERNOON

Rotherham United boss Matt Taylor admitted his side were a way off their best as they slipped to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Cardiff City on Saturday.

The Millers had made the long pilgrimage down to South Wales on the back of a huge effort in midweek at Coventry City and were unable to end their hoodoo at

S

Rovers head coach Danny Schofield thought his side’s 1-0 win over Gillingham was thoroughly deserved. Schofield registered his first victory as Rovers head coach, with another dominant performance on show against Neil Harris’ Gills.

“On the balance of play the win was well deserved,” he said. “We did not hit the same heights that we hit in the loss against Stevenage mid-week, which was down to how organised

the Cardiff City Stadium, where they are yet to record victory.

“It was a difficult afternoon for us. I thought from the start we lacked energy, life, brightness, sharpness, and a little bit of ‘snap’ in our game in all honesty.

“We’ve set the team up really well in recent weeks away from home and our points of

engagement have been really strong, but our points of engagement were too passive today.

“We had fleeting moments, and looked to have a bit of danger at times through counter attacks in the first half.

“There were long parts of that second half where we were far too timid for my liking.

“The lads tried their

best. We’re finding it really difficult to back up a good performance in the Championship with another good performance.

“It hurts because we want to be competitive in every single game, and I didn’t feel that we were competitive enough today.”

PRAISES R OVERS

Gillingham were.

“It was a competitive game and we found it difficult at times to break their defensive structure down.

“I’m sure Gillingham would have analysed our last two games while I have been head coach. From watching the clips they made the decision to make it difficult for us by reducing our spaces in attacking areas.

“Our goal was something we spoke about at length pre-game and I thought we executed it very well.”

Rovers’ win came courtesy of Harrison Biggins’ second-half goal from Kyle Knoyle’s cross. It comes after Biggins has hit the cross bar in the last two games and picked up two sponsors’ man-of-the-match awards.

Schofield was quick to praise the midfielder, and his teammates, for their continued impressive performances.

“Harrison has been fantastic since I have come into the building.

And like the rest of the players, he has trained with good intensity,” he added.

“He thoroughly deserved his goal and man of the match award that he has got in the last two games. “I like to instill belief in my players. I remind them daily that they’re footballers who can play and they’re here for a reason.

“Credit must go to the lads for how they have taken on the instructions and delivered.”

SUFFERS INjURY BLOW

Darren Moore confirmed that Ben Heneghan will require surgery for a knee injury during his pre-match press conference last week.

Speaking ahead of last Saturday’s visit of Burton Albion to Hillsborough, the Owls boss described the news as a ‘bitter blow’ for his side.

Moore said: “It’s not good news on Ben.

“He’s suffered an injury in

the game against Lincoln that will require surgery and could potentially rule him out for the rest of the season, which is a bitter blow for us.

“He’s done his Anterior Cruciate Ligament which is one of the main ligaments in the knee, he’ll have it fully repaired but obviously we know that’s a lengthy, lengthy process.

“Ben was a wonderful

mainstay in the defence and played a huge part, he’ll be a big miss for us. So our thoughts are with Ben and getting him back as quickly as we possibly can.”

Heneghan’s focus will now be solely on recovering from his injury and Moore confirmed he had spoken to the defender about the process, having suffered an identical setback

during his playing career. He added: “I have spoken with Ben, it’s an injury I had myself as a player.

“He’s such a wonderful character and strong individual and we’ll miss him, not only for his playing style, but he’s a leader as well.

“He’s in and around the building and will be supporting he players and we wish him a speedy recovery.”
