Earlier this week, Peel Group announced a short extension to the initial review period. The MCA and local leaders have asked for that period to be extended to the end of the year.

In July, current owners Peel Group began a review into the airport, claiming it was no longer commercially viable. Since then, there has been no clarity from Peel as to their intentions for the site; the MCA and local leaders are therefore exploring all market options. South Yorkshire’s Mayor Oliver Coppard said: “Since Peel announced the review into DSA our biggest fear has been that they are running down the clock while undermining confidence in the airport. Since then, our fears over their motives have seemingly been confirmed time and again. Peel have given us no clarity over their intentions while expecting us to come up with ideas for ways forward. A few weeks is far too short to develop meaningful plans and Peel are wasting valuable time. So enough is enough, we have decided to take matters into our own hands and undertake a search for potential investors or operators. We promised to explore all options to keep DSA open and that is what we are doing.”

Cllr Terry Fox said: “I am pleased that the Strategy & Resources Committee has agreed a position on the listing of John Lewis. The listing came as a shock to members, officers and many Sheffielders.

“I have made it clear that I will speak up for the people of Sheffield and I strongly believe this listing should not be detrimental to our city. We will be approaching organisations for funding support to limit the financial implications for the city and its “Itresidents.isclear from legal advice that there is no scope to successfully challenge the listing through the formal process. It would inevitably lead to a costly review and slow down development.

Councillors have agreed not to call for a review of the Grade II listing of the former John Lewis building. At a Special Strategy and Resources Committee meeting, Councillors decided the Council’s response to the listing granted by the Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) earlier this month. The Committee considered the implications of the listing, potential costs, legal advice, plans for development and the opinions of Sheffield people and decided not to take any formal action with regards to the listing decision. This means the Council can continue the process of securing a developer for the Barker’s Pool site. However, approval was given for officers to approach Historic England to query elements of the listing description and the weight that they have given to their significance. Approval was also given to set out a planning brief for all interested developers, working alongside Historic England to figure out what options are possible for the site following the listing. Interested developers have been informed of the listing decision and following discussions a number have indicated they are still keen to progress their Approvalproposals.has also been given for the Council to approach Historic England, Arts Council of England, Heritage Lottery Fund, Architectural Heritage Fund, other government agencies and South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority for potential funding support with any possible costs incurred because of the Thislisting.comes after Council Leader Councillor Terry Fox wrote a letter to the Secretary of State for DCMS last week appealing for more time to review the listing decision and request that no extra financial burden should be placed on the Council and the people of Sheffield due to the listing.

“After weighing up all the information it is clear there are still plenty of exciting opportunities for the Barker’s Pool site and I am assured we do still have the option to query elements of the listing and their “Isignificance.thinkwecan get something great here for the city but, as I said in my letter to the Minister, the government’s listing decision must not end up costing the council or Sheffield taxpayers. I look forward to what the future holds for the building and our city.”

Following 2018’s ‘Tranquility Base Hotel + Casino’, ‘The Car’ finds Arctic Monkeys picking up where 2018’s jazzinspired, intergalactic Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino left off. But “on this record, sci-fi is off the table. We are back to earth”, Turner hinted. “I think we’ve got closer to a better version of a more dynamic overall sound with this record,” he told The Big Issue. “The strings on this record come in and out of focus and that was a deliberate move and hopefully everything has its own space. There’s time the band comes to the front and then the strings come to the front.” The deluxe LP will be available on limited grey vinyl with a tip on sleeve and mounted gloss cover image via the AM Official Store. An exclusive, custard coloured LP will be available at independent record shops and HMV stores. ‘The Car’ will also be available on standard LP, CD, cassette and digitally. Fans can pre-order the album at store.arcticmonkeys.com.

Established since 1864, Eric took over the business in 1955 and has been looking after families in the local community and surrounding areas of Sheffield, Barnsley and Rotherham ever since, with branches at High Green and Sheffield Lane Top. Available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and with decades of experience in guiding bereaved clients through this difficult time, Eric Eyre provide a professional yet personal service, caring for you and your loved ones while facilitating the necessary funeral arrangements and ensuring your wishes are carried out with care and compassion. Eric Eyre go the extra mile to provide an exceptional service and will take responsibility for ensuring everything is perfectly organised to deliver a fitting tribute to your loved one’s life story. “Just as other aspects of life have evolved, so has society’s approach to funerals, with modern funerals a very different affair to the traditional, formal black-tie events of years gone by,” says Wayne Pickering, manager at Eric Eyre Funeral Service. “For many, a funeral has moved from being a sombre affair to a celebration of life – complete with all that you’d expect from any other celebration, including music, entertainment and laughter. That is why we are always on hand to offer guidance on the many ways we can add a personal touch, just let us know what you would like and we will do our utmost to meet your requirements.” “ With over 20 years’ experience of the industry, and many years’ previous experience with John Fairest, Wayne was offered the opportunity to join Eric as family business offers funeralcompleteservice manager in 2017, “I joined John Fairest as a hearse driver in 1997 and was later promoted to funeral director. It was there that I learnt how to arrange and conduct funerals, as well as the correct way to handle and line coffins and how to prepare the deceased for the family to pay their respects. This gave me a full scope of all aspects of the job and after ten years of service I was offered the position of manager at a new branch on Abbey Lane, which I accepted. In September 2017 I was offered the opportunity to join the team at Eric Eyre’s and to ‘move back home’, as I say, as I live local to both branches. It was, and still is, a fantastic opportunity for me to grow and develop an already friendly family run business and provide our local community with a warm and compassionate service.”

3 Love your brown lawn When there’s prolonged dry weather, grass can start to look brown – but don’t fear, grass is one of the most resilient plants you can have in your garden, and it doesn’t need to be watered. When the rain does come, it’ll bounce right back to a vibrant green once again.

4 Sing while you save Keeping showers short is a great way to reduce water use. Yorkshire Water have created a playlist – with everything from Bon Jovi and Blur to S Club 7 – which is comprised of four-minute songs to help you time your shower.

Pubs across the UK will be forced to close due to energy costs soaring by as much as 300%, brewery bosses warned. Leaders of six of the country’s largest breweries called on the government for “immediate government intervention” on sky-high energy bills this winter. Unlike households, businesses aren’t covered by a regulated energy price cap, meaning bills are higher. Pub owners said the energy crisis would cause “real and serious irreversible” damage to the industry without support.

Nick Mackenzie, the boss of Greene King - one of the UK’s largest pub groups, with over 3,100 pubs - said the company could face “the prospect of pubs being unable to pay their bills, jobs being lost and beloved locals across the country forced to close their doors”. He added they would mean all the support given to pubs through the pandemic to stay in businesses “could be Meanwhile, wasted”.

William Lees Jones, of JW Lees, said the government needed to extend the energy cap to business as well as households. On Friday the energy regulator Ofgem, which sets the price cap on household bills, said it would rise by 80% in ManyOctober.energy intensive businesses across various sectors will also face cost pressures that could be passed on to consumers through higher prices. Aside from bills, breweries also highlighted a possible shortage of carbon dioxide (CO2) which is used in the production of beer.

Emma McClarkin, chief executive of the BBPA, warned that the rise in energy bills would cause more damage to the industry than the pandemic did if it didn’t receive support in the next few weeks.

The government has previously said no policy will be announced until the new prime minister is announced on 5 MrSeptember.Jowseysaid that he had personally raised the issue of high energy prices with ministers more than six months ago: “And I find it incredible that we have to wait for one person to get elected before we actually get some decisions and some policy which will protect not just jobs, not just people’s livelihoods, but also their homes because remember most people that run pubs in this country actually live above the shop,” he said. At The Plough in Essex, landlord Simon Cleary said his energy bills have spiralled from £13,000 to £35,000 a year. He said the pub needs to generate a further £1,800 in weekly takings to cover the costs. “It really is that bad,” he told the BBC. “I think it’s going to be really tough unless there is intervention from the government,” added Mr Cleary.

Pubs warn of closure as energy bills face 300% rise

Andrew Taylor, managing director of Mr Fox a bar in Croydon, said that he had “no doubt” his costs will grow.

“There are pubs that weathered the storm of the past two years that now face closure because of rocketing energy bills for both them and their customers,” she Itadded.comes as the number of pubs in England and Wales continues to fall, hitting its lowest level on record, according to new analysis. The research found that there were 39,970 pubs in June, down by more than 7,000 since 2012. According to Altus, who compiled the report, 400 pubs in England and Wales closed last year and some 200 shut in the first half of 2022 as inflation started to eat in to profits. That brought the total number of pubs down to its lowest since Altus’s records began in 2005.

Chris Jowsey, boss of Admiral Taverns which has 1,600 pubs, said his tenanted pubs now pay more in energy bills than they do in rent. He told the BBC’s Today programme that one of his tenants wrote to him saying he was leaving after 20 years due to his electricity bill going up 450% - an increase so large he couldn’t pass onto Mrcustomers.Jowsey said breweries were now having to bypass energy suppliers and buy directly from the wholesale market due to companies not being willing to supply the sector, which uses high amounts of energy. In a statement the Department for Business, Energy and Industry said “no government” would be able to control the “global factors pushing up the price of energy and other business costs”. “But we will continue to support the hospitality sector in navigating the months ahead,” a spokesman added. “That includes providing a 50% business rates relief for businesses across the UK, freezing alcohol duty rates on beer, cider, wine and spirits and reducing employer national insurance. This is in addition to the billions in grants and loans offered throughout the pandemic.”

CF Industries, the UK’s largest CO2 producer, recently announced that it would temporarily stop production at one of its plants because rising energy prices made it too expensive to continue.

“Electric and gas is up, cooking oil has trebled in price and food costs are massively starting to climb,” he said. It means he’ll soon have to make tough decisions. “We are absorbing a lot of the increases we’ve seen but there will be a time when we have to start passing these onto the customer. It is incredibly concerning,” he said.

Moore reflected on a terrific week for Wednesday, in which three wins were recorded with as many clean sheets and 10 goals. He added: “It’s been a really productive week, beating Bolton 2-0, Rochdale 3-0 and now Forest Green 5-0. “But we’ve achieved nothing at this moment in time. We have to get those levels right up there, week in, week out. “We can get better and we will get better.”

Amissah.Owls.With the clocking ticking down, Ahmedhodžić and Brewster were introduced to the action as Norrington-Davies and Ndiaye made way and in the final minute of the 90, Brewster took aim from distance but Horvath was equal to it. Seven minutes of added time saw Luton finishes on the front foot, but Amissah produced a timely save to deny Jerome as the spoils were shared. are getting there.

United extended the unbeaten to five league matches with a hardfought point at Kenilworth Road. Carlton Morris headed the Hatters into an early lead, but Oli McBurne struck an equaliser eight minutes after the interval to net the Blades a deserved draw. Boss Heckingbottom made three changes for the clash at Luton. Basham made his first start of the season, with McAtee and Ndiaye also recalled as Fleck and Khadra missed out and Ahmedhodžić wasn’t risked having picked up a knock against Blackburn Rovers. Youngsters Arblaster and Osula were named amongst the substitutes. After a quiet opening, it was the home side who opened the scoring in the 10th minute. A throw-in from the left wasn’t fully cleared and from Bell’s near post cross MORRIS headed into the far corner giving Foderingham no chance. Baldock was cautioned for halting a possible break, but from United’s next corner, Norwood’s volley Darren Moore is keeping his feet firmly on the floor despite an impressive start to the new campaign. Wednesday sit third in the League One table, one point from the summit, after an emphatic 5-0 win over Forest Green at AndHillsborough.Mooreis far from getting carried away, issue reminders that nothing has been achieved yet. He told swfc.co.uk: “We will continue to build, we are still a work in progress. I don’t think the levels are where we can be but week on week we was seemingly goal bound but was inadvertently blocked by Berge. United continued to push forward positively, but Luton continued to carry a threat of their own from wide areas and Adebayo headed over from Bree’s cross. McAtee was then booked for a shirt pull before McBurnie dragged an effort wide from Baldock’s cross. Former Blade Freeman then linked up with Bell but his shot was comfortably gathered by Foderingham and before the half was out, Adebayo volleyed over at the near post from another Bree Unitedcross. made a change at the break with Doyle replacing McAtee and on 53 minutes parity was restored, with MCBURNIE volleying home a wonderful strike at the back post after Doyle and then Egan had recycled the ball into a dangerous area. The second half turned out to be an entertaining affair with both teams having opportunities to win the game. On the hour, another cross picked out Bell, but he failed to make a clear contact with an attempted volley, whilst at the other end, a rasping drive from Norwood was inches away from hitting the top corner of Horvath’s net, before Ndiaye was carded for stopping a quick free kick. Adebayo then headed over from a promising position, before United were dealt another blow as Foderingham limped off and was subsequently replaced by debutant

“The best part of the week for me is on the grass training because that’s where all the hard work and preparations for Saturday proves “Weimportant.knew Forest Green are a very capable side, they can paint some wonderful pictures, but the work we did in the week nullified that, so well done to the players. “It was a performance.professionalsolid,It was important we started the game well and played on the front foot and that’s exactly what we did.”
