Welcome to Hollywood and the 30th anniversary of the Thea Awards ®!

Onbehalf of the International Board of Directors of the TEA, I am thrilled and honored to join you in celebrating the recognition of excellence and achievement within our industry. Often in the past, we’ve unofficially referred to the Theas as “The Oscars of Themed Entertainment,” so it’s very exciting this year to bring the Thea Awards Gala - in all its elegance, distinction and prestigeliterally to Hollywood.

Thirty years ago, the TEA Board of Directors had a bold idea to help realize a key mission of the association: create an awards program to recognize achievement, talent and personal excellence in themed entertainment. In 1994, industry veteran Harrison “Buzz” Price became the sole recipient of the very first TEA Thea Award, honoring lifetime achievement (now the Buzz Price Thea Award Recognizing a Lifetime of Distinguished Achievements). This year’s very deserving lifetime honor recipient is Mr. Su Zhigang, Founder and Chairman of Chimelong Group, for his visionary leadership in the ongoing development of Chimelong parks and resorts.

Over the last 30 years, TEA’s Thea Awards have become internationally recognized symbols of excellence. The estimable, dedicated Thea Awards Judging Committee, chaired in the current cycle by Andy Westfall, annually evaluates hundreds of submissions, searching for breakthrough projects and experiences. This year, more than 80% of the Thea recipients are from outside of North America - WOW! The Thea Awards always strive for worldwide coverage, but this year’s slate has unprecedented global depth.

The development of themed attractions, experiences and live shows is a collaborative effort that involves not only the visionary minds behind these immersive worlds but also the creative, vendor and supplier companies that bring these

visions to life. Part of the Thea Awards process is the delivery of a comprehensive credits list, furnished by the project owner and published by TEA to celebrate these partnerships and collaborations and recognize the many disciplines within our unique industry. We come together to celebrate these incredible achievements and achievers and be inspired to raise the bar even higher.

Innovation and evolution are hallmarks of our industry, and we see that in the diversity of awards and market sectors represented this year. Europa-Park created a new recipe for experiential dining with Eatrenalin; Disney Encanto x CAMP and AURA: The Forest at the Edge of the Sky re-imagine retail experience; and the extended reality experiences of Colored (Noire) present difficult content in a meaningful and effective way. Leading theme park operators continually redefine the guest experience while staying true to their brands, as seen in SeaWorld® Abu Dhabi and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind.

recipients David Green and Lisa Passamonte Green, and, of course to Liseberg, the Thea Classic Award recipient, which several of our members got to experience first-hand in 2022 when Liseberg was the gracious host of SATE Europe. We are so thankful to each of you for your continued support of our industry and the TEA.

Heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to our presenting sponsor, Chimelong, for their unwavering support and commitment to the success of the 30th Anniversary Thea Awards. We are deeply grateful for their dedication to the themed entertainment industry and their belief in the power of recognizing excellence. Thank you, Chimelong, for your invaluable support and for helping us celebrate and honor the outstanding achievements of the industry's brightest stars.

Thanks are likewise due to our production partner, RWS Global, for their endless creativity, innovation and spark. To TEA’s Executive Director, Lindsey Nelson and her incredible team at TEA Headquarters – this endeavor would not be possible without your hard work and commitment to delivering an exceptional program of celebration.

Congratulations to all of our award recipients and cheers to the amazing accomplishments over the last 30 years!

About TEA®

The Themed Entertainment Association (TEA) is the international non-profit association representing the world’s leading creators, developers, designers and producers of compelling places and experiences - worldwide. Our members bring specific expertise in a variety of disciplines to a field that is constantly evolving: the creation of successful, highly engaging, out of home visitor attractions and experiences in the leisure and travel sector. These entertaining and educational projects include theme parks, water parks, museums, zoos, corporate visitor centers, casinos, restaurants, branded experiences, multimedia spectaculars, retail spaces, resorts and hospitality, destination attractions and more.

TEA was founded in 1991 and now encompasses some 1,600 members and four primary Divisions: Eastern North America, Western North America, Europe & Middle East, and Asia Pacific. In the 30+ years of its existence, TEA has changed the global conversation about how great guest experiences are conceived and realized, and focused international attention on a vital niche of popular culture. There are many benefits and advantages to becoming a paid association member and taking your place in the TEA community.

About the TEA Thea Awards®

The annual Thea Awards were created to bring recognition to achievement, talent and personal excellence within the themed entertainment industry. From a modest beginning in 1994, the Thea Awards have become internationally recognized as a symbol of excellence.

A 30th Anniversary Perspective

Andy Westfall credits growing up on a small Ohio farm in simpler times and a “make your own fun” upbringing for his having developed, at an early age, into a prolific doodler and incessant sandbox builder with a “first in, last out" work ethic.

Today, as Senior Director of Strategic Planning & Development for Herschend Creative Studios, Andy confesses he’s never mentally left that sandbox and is constantly asking himself, “what can I make next?” Andy leads conceptual and feasibility development across the Herschend Enterprises portfolio for all major capital projects. He revels in weaving together complex business objectives with creative vision developing products and experience that delight and entertain millions of guests each and every year.

Andy brought his talents, experience and background to leading the TEA Thea Awards Judging Committee through the annual cycle that produced the current slate of Thea Award recipients.

How have the Thea Awards® enriched and empowered and helped shape and improve the industry over three decades?

I entered this amazing industry as a young, brighteyed intern the same year as the first Thea Awards (1994). Since my first day in the industry, the Thea Awards firmly established a benchmark goal for what excellence in this craft could and should look like, as I grew professionally. For me, three decades of Thea Awards have done much more than celebrate hundreds of projects and tens of thousands of the individuals. More importantly, the Theas have exposed us to projects, organizations, individuals, and causes that might otherwise have

lingered in obscurity or gone unrecognized. It is through the Thea Awards recognizing, elevating, and celebrating these unknown creators and producers that we grow as community and as a collective industry. Thirty years of Thea Awards have been a catalyst in binding our global community to raise the collective bar for ourselves and for our guests.

How does the Committee ensure the awards stay relevant?

The goal, “To find excellence and celebrate it,” allows us to explore the ever-expanding corners of our industry for new and evolving experiences. It’s by elevating these amazing fringes that we continue to grow and challenge our thinking as an industry at large. Our continually evolving industry maintains its own relevancy; the definition of entertainment is always in flux. The Thea Awards Committee acts as a filter to elevate the best of what might at any moment be defined as entertainment.

Tell us about the makeup of the Committee and the process that goes into selecting the final slate of recipients from hundreds of submissions.

The Thea Awards Committee is currently made up of all the Buzz Price lifetime achievement recipients who elect to take part, along with a collection of 12 members-at-large representing a diverse collection of industry veterans. Over a three-month period, the Committee meets continually to review and discuss 200 to 300 potential awards submissions. This Committee is passionate about elevating the

industry through the Thea Awards, and shortlisting the industry’s highest honor comes with lively, lengthy, thoughtful debate. Our singular Committee focus is to seek out excellence in our industry and recognize it.

What are some of the trends and milestones reflected in the current slate of recipients?

The current slate reflects the amazing growth of our industry with one of the most globally diverse slate of award winners we have assembled. Two standout trends that we see this slate featuring include: a heightened focus on deepening and personalizing consumer experiences and the power of intimate and emotional guest experiences, supported seamlessly through technology. Our industry is passionately driven to build stronger and deeper emotional connections with our audiences with an ever-expanding set of tools.

Would you say that this year's recipients show the industry recovering from the initial COVID years?

From my perspective, the industry is financially and creatively expanding faster than ever before with even higher consumer expectations. The projects we are celebrating this year represent a post-pandemic rebirth. The energy captured in these projects is one of exuberance, optimism, and experimentation, a clear sign that the fog has lifted.

Tell us about your role as Committee chair and why you find it rewarding.

Working with such an amazing group of highly dedicated professionals who share a common passion for the health and preservation of this industry is truly an inspiring experience. All the late night meetings, countless hours of reviewing video submissions, and tallying of endless rounds of votes are absolutely worth the result. I’m honored to be in such company.

History of the TEA Thea Awards ®

The establishment of the TEA Thea Awards as the preeminent award program recognizing excellence in themed entertainment projects was seminal to the recognition of themed entertainment as a professional industry. The Theas shine a bright light on the industry and its leaders, fabricators and creative geniuses who make themed entertainment magic.

— Themed Entertainment Association (TEA) Founder Monty Lunde, Technifex

TEA created the Thea Awards to bring recognition to achievement, talent and excellence within the themed entertainment industry.

The Thea Awards began in 1994 with a single Lifetime Achievement Award, and the first honoree was Harrison “Buzz” Price, a pioneer in entertainment feasibility. Monty Lunde, Bob Rogers, Pat Scanlon and Barry Howard were on the first Thea Awards organizational and judging committee.

The Thea Awards were named in reference to three words:

•“Thea” - the Greek goddess from whom all light emanates

•“Theater” - derived from the goddess Thea

•“TEA” - the acronym referring to our Association

The original Thea trophies were designed by Barry Howard and Jeremy Railton. The current Thea trophy debuted in 2001 and was designed by Zofia Kostryko.

The first year’s ceremony, held at the Biltmore Hotel in downtown Los Angeles, was produced by Ron Miziker and coordinated by Jana Love, with TEA founder Monty Lunde serving as master of ceremonies. The 1995 Thea Awards also took place at the Biltmore, again with a single honoree: the late Marty Sklar (an official Disney Legend).

After Buzz Price passed away in 2010, TEA renamed the Thea Lifetime Achievement Award in his honor. It is

now called the Buzz Price Thea Award - Recognizing a Lifetime of Distinguished Achievements.

The third year (1996) saw the introduction of Awards for Outstanding Achievement (AOA). Ten AOAs were bestowed. The Thea Classic category was created in 1997. It can be given to one achievement per year that has stood the test of time. Also in 1997, the AOA category of Excellence on a Limited Budget was created, to celebrate outstanding achievements under $10 million.

For 2014-2015, new Wizarding World of Harry Potter attractions at Universal Studios prompted the TEA Thea Awards Judging Committee to create the Paragon Award, which recognizes a project that sets a new bar of excellence.

The “Connected Immersion” category introduced in 2017 has since been applied to numerous Theahonored projects, recognizing that tremendous advances in technology, social behavior and connectivity are reinventing our notion of storytelling and immersion. In 2022, the Thea Catalyst Award became a new, annual honor to recognize individuals who have made recent, notable contributions to the industry.

The Thea Awards also reflect the global expansion of our industry, and the geographic coverage has grown accordingly, with the Committee continuing its efforts each year to span the globe.

It should be noted that the Thea Awards are not by any means confined to theme parks. Museums and museum exhibitions, heritage centers, casinos, multimedia spectaculars, brand experiences, theatrical productions and many other types of attractions and guest experiences - some yet to be invented or discovered - fall into the realm of projects that may be eligible for Thea Awards.

The TEA Peter Chernack Distinguished Service Award recipient is also recognized at this time. This award was created and is decided by the TEA Past Presidents Committee, and was renamed in honor of the late Peter Chernack, a TEA Past President who was instrumental in conceiving this award.

In 2020 and 2021, the realities of the global pandemic prevented us from being able to gather in person. Although the big Summit and Gala weekend could not take place, TEA determined that the Thea Awards cycle should continue uninterrupted, with the submissions and judging process going forward and the community gathering to honor the recipients via an online platform. The virtual Thea Awards Case Studies were a success in 2020 and 2021. TEA also continued to publish the official Thea Awards Program online during this period.

In 2022 and 2023, TEA once again welcomed the global industry community in person to the Thea Awards Gala and TEA Summit conference (now TEA INSPIRE) at the Disneyland Hotel in Anaheim, California. 2024 brings the Thea Awards Gala and TEA INSPIRE to a new location, in Hollywood.

The culture of the Thea Awards is unique. Here are some key characteristics:

• The honoree is the project itself – Thea AOA and Thea Classic awards honor the entire achievement. The trophy is awarded to the project owner.

• Official project credits – The project owner is obliged to furnish a comprehensive credits list for publication by TEA. In this way the Thea Awards have resulted in the first official project credits of the themed entertainment industry, and shed light on the complexity and true nature of these projects and the creative collaboration that produces them.

• Trophies for the team – Individuals and companies named on the official credits list of a Thea-honored project are entitled to obtain their own trophies from TEA.

• No set categories – The TEA is free to honor several achievements in the same category, create a new category, or to skip categories as the year’s achievements warrant.

• No secrets – Award recipients are openly announced in November, and the awards are formally presented the following spring at the Thea Awards Gala.

• Open nominations – Anyone can nominate a project for a Thea Award. It is not necessary to be a TEA member. You can nominate your own project.

The objective is simple: To find excellence and celebrate it. As we look to the future, the Thea Awards will continue to grow and evolve, while continuing to honor the original objective of bringing recognition to achievement, talent and professional excellence within our themed entertainment industry.

How to Create a Thea Award Submission

The Themed Entertainment Association’s annual TEA Thea Awards recognize excellence and innovation in the themed entertainment and international visitor attractions industry.

Each year, hundreds of submissions are received and considered by the TEA Thea Awards Judging Committee for outstanding destination attractions, breakthrough technology, event spectaculars, cultural attractions or guest experiences, as well as for individuals who have made their mark on the industry. The pandemic obliged our industry to rethink and reinvent projects in many creative ways. We’re looking to find and celebrate the brilliance of those reinventive experiences and more, from around the globe.

Submissions info for 2024

The submissions period for the 31st annual Thea Awards judging cycle runs 1 May -5 July, 2024.

To be eligible for submission, a project must have opened during this timeframe: 1 July, 2022 through 30 June, 2024.

After submissions close, the Thea Awards Judging Committee begins its extensive review and judging period. The slate of recipients will be announced in November 2024, and awards formally presented in Spring 2025 at the annual TEA Thea Awards Gala.

For more information, see below, and visit the TEA website at www.teaconnect.org.

Did you know?

Su Zhigang

Founder and Chairman, Chimelong Group

The Buzz Price Thea Award

Recognizing a Lifetime of Distinguished Achievements

"Dear friends, please call me Zhigang. Although I’ve attended the TEA Thea Awards Gala before, we may not have had enough time to get to know each other well. I hope this story will help, I can’t wait to hear yours."

The Story about Su Zhigang

Exclusive article provided for the Thea Awards Program by Chimelong Group

Starting with a small dream

Su Zhigang was born in 1958, the fifth child in a peasant family in Guangzhou, China. His first dream was to build a better life for his family. He left school for work when he was 14. Life was hard during those years, he worked on the farms and raised livestock to help support his family. His fondest memory from that period: one time, after the cow he was responsible for looking after had given birth to a calf, the team leader gave him a reward of CNY10 (10 Chinese yuan). This recognition not only brought him a lot of happiness but marked the start of a career in which he would accomplish his goals.

In 1989, he opened his first restaurant, which specialized in Cantonese cuisine. Its fame soon spread beyond Guangzhou to Hong Kong and Macau. The financial success of this venture was a significant step on the journey to greater things.

A dream trip inspires the first Chimelong park

In 1994, Mr. Su started traveling abroad in search of new business ideas. In a wildlife park in Bangkok, Thailand, he came upon a large herd of giraffes galloping together. The spectacular sight reminded him of his childhood spent in the midst of domestic farm animals, and the powerful feeling he had whenever he saw the animals at the Guangzhou Zoo in his hometown. That gave him an idea: he would build a great zoo, one that would bring happiness and edutainment to many people, especially children.

He started working on this idea, and in December 1997, Chimelong Safari Park opened its doors to the public. Conceived as an extensive habitat for large populations of different animals, the park set a single-day attendance record of 80,000 on the third day of the Chinese New Year and captured the attention of the entire country.

29

Congratulations Mr. Su!

Here's to all of the 2024 award recipients who've brought such wonder and magic to audiences across the world.

Here's to a joyous celebration with all who are part of our international industry and who collectively represent the best in themed entertainment!

30

After the initial success of Chimelong Safari Park, Mr. Su expanded the development, launching a grand circus and a safari-themed hotel. In doing so, he was pioneering the unique “zoo by day, circus at dusk, animal themed hotel for the night” visitor experience. He later added Chimelong Paradise and Chimelong Water Park to the lineup, incorporating sophisticated, world-class modern rides and attractions. Chimelong Resort Guangzhou became one of the first 5A-class tourist attractions in the country. Chimelong Water Park has been established as a world leader in attendance since 2013.

As successful as the Chimelong Resort Guangzhou was, Mr. Su didn’t stop there. During the financial crisis of 2008, he turned his attention to Hengqin Island, Zhuhai in China, a location convenient to Hong Kong and Macau. He led his team on a tour of some 40 theme parks in 14 countries, observing and learning about the latest planning and design concepts. He then began collaborating with several hundred leading creative enterprises from around the world to conceive and create Chimelong

Resort Zhuhai. It was built on a tidal flat and since its opening in 2014, the resort has won many top, prestigious international industry awards (including, in 2015, a Thea Award for Outstanding Achievement – Chimelong’s first Thea Award). The resort has successfully hosted the China International Circus Festival for seven years.

Chimelong properties have consistently ranked high in attendance numbers and attendance growth. In 2019, Chimelong Ocean Kingdom was ranked #1 in China and #8 worldwide in terms of attendance, per the TEA/AECOM Theme Index.

Over the years, multiple Chimelong projects have been honored with awards, including several more Thea Awards. Various Chimelong themed hotels have also been honored within the hospitality industry –including a “Best Themed Hotel in China” designation at the annual TTG Awards, and “Asia’s Leading Themed Hotel” at the WTA Awards, noting the popularity of Chimelong resort hotels with both local and overseas visitors.

Striving for even bigger dreams

Every journey to business success is filled with countless challenges, but Mr. Su’s passion for innovation is such that, even today, he retains the energetic spirit and vigor of his youth. He cultivates new ideas with an open mind and steadfast vision, and did so even in the early years of the pandemic. In 2023, his latest brainchild, Chimelong Spaceship, the world’s largest indoor marine theme park was launched, and wasted no time in setting seven new Guinness World Records. The Bermuda Storm attraction of Chimelong Spaceship is also being honored in 2024 with a Thea Award for Outstanding Achievement.

Mr. Su has cultivated longstanding relationships and creative collaborations with the top theme park design firms around the world. He has become friends with many leading professionals in the field, from whom he is still learning with his trademark humility. Many of these industry experts have known him for decades, and affectionately call him “Mr. Su.” He has not read ten thousand books, but he

has, as the Chinese proverb prescribes, travelled over ten thousand miles. As long as there’s a new project worth learning from, whether in China or abroad, he would not hesitate to travel all the way there to study firsthand in order to remain inspired. He also encourages the management and staff of Chimelong Group to go beyond borders and boundaries to learn from the best projects worldwide.

After 35 years of development under Mr. Su’s leadership, Chimelong Group has grown into one of China’s most iconic entertainment and hospitality brands, one that includes six worldclass theme parks, over 10,000 hotel rooms, and three grand circus show theatres. At the same time, Chimelong contributes actively to the global effort to preserve biodiversity by directly supporting wildlife conservation programs in 15 countries in the AsiaPacific region and Africa. Chimelong Group is also a driving force behind the sustainable development of the tourism industry in those countries, and creates employment opportunities to help reduce poverty and improve people’s lives.

Mr. Su has a clear vision for the future, being determined that Chimelong will always be in the business of bringing happiness to people. So far, it has been a 35-year journey. Chimelong is proud of having welcomed as many as 37 million visits in one year, across its properties. But the organization and the brand will continue to learn and innovate. By creating ever more unique, cutting-edge and exceptional experiences for people from around the world, Chimelong is committed to extending its success for 100 years and beyond. That is, in fact, the Chimelong founder’s biggest dream.

“Bringing people happiness, adding value to society and being recognized for it – that is the greatest source of happiness in my life!” said Mr. Su.

Liseberg

Gothenburg, Sweden

Thea Classic Award

Born to serve. For a century, Liseberg park has been a true reflection of, and the heart of, the community that created it. It began as a party – a temporary gathering place to celebrate the city’s 300th anniversary. It evolved into an enduring celebration of life. Liseberg brings people together. An oasis of green and flowers, music, dancing, health, exercise, thrills, recreation, restaurants and cafes. Here, elders gather to remember and young people gather to dream and perhaps fall in love. A place to meet and make friends, and a place to test one’s courage via a world class thrill ride. It was always a product and reflection, not of developers, but of the heart of the community that established it in 1923.

Now celebrating their 100th year, they call themselves an amusement park for all ages, but they are so much more. Liseberg is the emotional center of the City of Gothenburg, and the heart of Sweden. It meets the needs of people by offering parks, botanical gardens, flower exhibitions, swimming pools, dance halls, adventure, games, overnight accommodations, theater, children’s theater, restaurants, cafés and concerts, often featuring international stars from symphonic to rock and roll to jazz, all set in green parkland. It changes seasonally (summer, autumn and Christmas) so as to always celebrate what is in the hearts and minds of its surrounding community.

Today, Liseberg has grown into one of the world’s greatest theme parks, internationally recognized for its entrepreneurship, courage, innovation and service, with well over 40 different award-winning, world-class rides and attractions, from gentle carousels to bone-rattling coasters. In 2023 it received a Thea Award for Outstanding Achievement, honoring its charming Underlandet dark ride, featuring a journey into the underground world of its symbol and mascot, the green-pink bunny, Liseberg Rabbit.

Reaching out to serve the world, Liseberg has also been an international leader in the themed entertainment industry, with its CEO in leadership at IAAPA. And in an additional, generous gesture of service to others, Liseberg created and now administers the Applause Award, with which Liseberg generously recognizes and promotes excellence in other parks around the world.

Through it all, Liseberg remains what it always has been, a reflection of the heart and the joy of life of the community that operates, supports and depends on it. Liseberg has set new standards and stood the test of time, and has earned the admiration of themed entertainment professionals and fans the world over. For this reason, and in recognition of the uplifting, unifying message encoded in everything they do, the Thea Awards proudly recognizes Liseberg as this year’s recipient of The Thea Classic Award.

Director of Regenerative Design, Retired, Cuningham Thea Catalyst Award

The Thea Catalyst Award recognizes significant impacts that benefit, uplift and inspire the entire themed entertainment industry and bring a fresh perspective to our practice. This distinct recognition is given to an individual, company or organization that is attuned to an evolving global and everdiversifying audience and continues to achieve real and positive impact in what we create and build, and in our collective thinking.

This year, the Thea Catalyst sub-committee was unanimous in its assessment of the most pressing themes currently affecting us. The themed entertainment industry stands at a pivotal moment, where the pursuit of artistic excellence intertwines inexorably with the imperative of regenerative design and sustainability. The interconnectedness of all the elements within an entertainment destination, and the far-reaching effects that a shift from Return-on-Investment to Return-on-impact can have, could not be ignored.

In an era characterized by the convergence of technology, storytelling, and the power of entertainment to influence hearts and minds, the Committee recognized that this influence comes with unparalleled responsibility to champion sustainability and regenerative design as the very foundation upon which we build our narratives, and to support a message that will continue to impact our industry for the indefinite future. It is for this reason that Paul C. Hutton was selected as the 2024 Thea Catalyst Award recipient.

As the recently retired Director of Regenerative Design at Cuningham, Paul’s multi-decade career has been dedicated to integrating sustainable building strategies with creative design. In our field, Paul has been an impactful presence as a key stakeholder behind the inception and continued impact of the annual Themed Entertainment Sustainability Summit (TESS). Founded in 2018, TESS is a forum for global leaders in leisure and entertainment to address sustainable design, accessible standards in the LEED system and more.

Paul’s leadership in the global shift from “sustainability” to the “circular economy” - a philosophy of “reduce-reuse-recover” wherein products and services are designed with materials that are up-cycled or recycled at the end of their useful lifehas greatly impacted the many projects he’s opened in retail, hospitality, themed entertainment, and mixed-use development.

AURA: The Forest at the Edge of the Sky

Haikou International Duty-Free Shopping Complex, Haikou, China

Thea Award For Outstanding AchievementImmersive Mall Experience

Introducing AURA - an experience-driven, immersive themed, five-story-high by 50-meter-wide atrium. This extraordinary use of media storytelling and scenic design to activate public retail space features interactive technology and evokes the Eastern philosophy of Qi, the life force connecting all living things.

AURA features intricate yet innovative installations. These include a ‘Tree Deer’ that’s six meters in height fitted with media panels and dichroic surfaces, a 30-meter tall LED screen ‘waterfall’, and the centerpiece of the space: a 27-meter ‘Tree of Light’ sculpture, which dances with 5,000 polycarbonate orbs and 12,000 individually controllable LED lights. Like the other sculptures in the atrium, the Tree of Light pulses with choreographed, reactive light and sound. From the ground, visitors sitting on the ‘tree’ roots will activate its music and lights. While moving between levels, visitors take an escalator and journey through a kaleidoscopic tunnel encased by a 40 meter-long “golden tree tunnel.” All eight themed-art installations are self-supporting and represent leaps forward in innovation. At the heart of its design lies the philosophy that a

shopping mall can push the boundaries of its intrinsic nature: a box housing retail stores.

The entire atrium becomes a colossal, immersive theatrical box for lighting and multimedia shows, with cinematic storytelling. AURA’s space draws inspiration from Hainan’s flora and fauna and seeks to promote the rich ecology of the province while paying homage to Chinese culture.

Viewing platforms across multiple levels and extensive interactive floor projections, theatrical lighting, and large animated media create a playful, performative space that responds to visitors’ movement and touch. Sculptures interact in real-time based on evolving story plots. The overall story telling is playful, contemporary and poetic.

China is experiencing a fiercely competitive landscape within the retail sector and public spaces. AURA is an ambitious destination development that marks a defining milestone for travel retail.

Bermuda Storm

Chimelong Spaceship, Zhuhai, Guangdong, China

Thea Award For Outstanding AchievementAttraction

This knockout attraction in Chimelong’s latest indoor theme park, said to be the world’s largest, Bermuda Storm at Chimelong Spaceship delivers a 4D-style guest experience with a massive dome projection space, a 300-seat simulator platform, animatronics and a multitude of custom special effects.

Bermuda Storm begins when the guests enter the interior of the Conch to the sounds of Reggae music, catching their first glimpse of Captain Bob and Charlie (both life-sized holograms) as they move about the upper Bridge. The ship begins a slow turn to sea and a sunset illuminated cloudfilled sky moves through multiple side windows surrounding the guests. Bob invites the guests onto the open-air foredeck, where the breeze is blowing, the waves are lapping, the setting sun is sparkling on the water, and the real adventure is about to begin (and something goes terribly, terribly wrong...)

As the Conch sails on, there suddenly appears a mysterious, waterspout-filled Devil Storm. This is the moment of transition

from a calm whale watching outing to a thrilling experience. The sophisticated special effects and massive deck simulator go into full swing. The guests are rocked to and fro, the winds howl, lightning flashes, water splashes and mists.

The five-minute, storm-wracked journey also includes a battle with a ghostly crew of pirates, a ride atop a massive tsunami, and an attack from an immense Kraken that ultimately lifts us out of the water with the intent to devour. All ends providentially as Conch and guests splash down safe and sound and ready for another cruise.

By seamlessly integrating a unique collection of innovative technologies and specially-created show elements that support a wild and crazy mythical sea adventure, the Bermuda Storm attraction invites guests to encounter a next-step immersive theme park experience. Locating the attraction within Chimelong’s marine science park is an unconventional placement yet an excellent fit.

Colored (Noire)

Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris, France

Thea Award For Outstanding AchievementExtended Reality Exhibit

An extraordinary blend of extended reality and technology retells an historical story in Colored (“Noire” in its French version), presented at Paris’ Centre Pompidou in April and May 2023. This immersive, augmented reality-based experience draws on the life of Claudette Colvin, American pioneer of the 1950s civil rights movement.

In the onboarding process, visitors are equipped with an AR set (goggles and a headset along with a small backpack). The 300-square-meter space hosts some set pieces including benches, doors and a desk. This space is also equipped with environmental effects (light, winds, vibrations) as well as a spatialized sound system. The audience is pulsed in groups of 10 for a 35-min show.

The story and scenes of the opening video begin to fill the space and visitors find themselves surrounded by a host of 3D virtual characters in action. They experience themselves in Montgomery, Alabama in the 1950s, from the viewpoint of Claudette Colvin, a 15-year-old Black girl living what was at

that time a very normal life in a racially segregated community with specific rules for behavior in deference to Whites.

On March 2, 1955, the 15-year-old Claudette refused to give up her seat to a white passenger on a public bus. Colored re-creates this event and its aftermath, a milestone of the Civil Rights movement. Each scene unfolds in a very delicate way, using evocative techniques to show ghosts appearing within the space where the guests are seated or standing.

This show engages and immerses the visitor within the feeling and the action of the story. It pushes the boundaries of proximity within an extended reality medium, bringing story, character and emotions within reach. The guests get to embrace the story of Claudette Colvin in a very effective way. Powerful integration of original music and sound textures enhance the dialogue, text and emotional arcs of the scenes. The smart, modular design of the whole experience facilitates travel and easy adaptation within different spaces.

Deutschlandmuseum

Berlin, Germany

Thea Award For Outstanding AchievementMuseum Attraction, Limited Budget

In the heart of Berlin stands the Deutschlandmuseum, presenting history through a one-of-a-kind visitor experience, a one-hour walk-through that uses captivating storytelling, combining the world of interactive, educational museums with that of immersive theme park elements. Open since June 2023, Deutschlandmuseum takes visitors on a journey through two thousand years of German history. The museum is divided into twelve rooms, each representing a specific era, from the Germanic peoples in 9 A.D. to the German Reunification in 1990.

The experience features seven immersive rooms filled with scenery and five more abstract spaces that use video and other technology to invoke a sense of time and place. Walls, paintings and scenic views are alive with video re-enactments. Every room also features unique, hands-on interactives like printing on Gutenberg's press, exploring the national colors with the help of artificial intelligence, or solving a criminal case in the Roaring Twenties to make guests feel part of this history.

Beginning in Room 1, visitors are transported back to the year 9 A.D. With authentic props, themed video screens, and

interactive games, this room sets the stage for the rest of the experience. Subsequent rooms explore the Early Middle Ages, High Middle Ages, Reformation, Enlightenment, German Confederation, Imperial Germany, the Weimar Republic, etc. continuing through World War II and the Holocaust and into the 21st Century while leaving room for future updates.

The educational sets and family-friendly design make it suitable for visitors of all ages. Every detail is carefully crafted to transport visitors to a different time period. For instance, in the Reformation room, visitors can interact with hands-on exhibits and explore oversized projections. The Enlightenment room features an animated wall design, rare originals, and even a climbable philosopher's head. The German Confederation room showcases a real-life barricade, expressive exhibits, and a room-sized interactive map.

The Deutschlandmuseum offers an extraordinary and immersive museum experience in which visitors get the opportunity to engage with the past in a meaningful and memorable way. It is an excellent example of modern historical education.

Disney Encanto x CAMP

New York City, New York, USA

Thea Award For Outstanding AchievementRetail Experience, Limited Budget

Disney Encanto x CAMP is an immersive theatrical experience that lets families explore a real-life Casita and play in the magical, musical world of Disney’s Encanto - with screen-perfect theming, authentic live music, and tons of interactive play within 6,000 square feet. It provides a model for the shopping industry.

CAMP was founded in 2018 as a family experience company, seeking to create a unique play/product hybrid model of experiential retail for young families, initially in New York City and now in eight locations across the U.S.

The CAMP family experience consists of experiential retail and immersive experiences behind the ‘Magic Door,’ and a mix of free and a la carte crafts and experiences in the ‘Canteen’ at the front of the store. Families can climb, slide, bounce, sing, and dance in the world of Disney’s Encanto.

The stores and merchandise are designed to appeal both to children and adults. The Casita holds 100 people at a time, pulsed in groups of 25. Through Casita’s door is a central

courtyard with a giant spiral slide - a nod to Casita’s grand stairway, which transforms into a slide in the film. From this hub, guests can freely explore all the Madrigals’ magical rooms.

After an hour of exploring Casita, families are welcomed into a smaller room where the Madrigals bid them farewell. Abuela suggests capturing the moment with a family photo.

This excellent brand partnership faithfully replicates sets from the animated film and incorporates technology, media, actors, and storytelling to create an interactive, immersive version of the movie for guests of all ages. The concept and business model are rooted in a combination of experiential retail (toy store) and rotating themed experiences of constant, alwayson, fresh content through partnership with leading family IPs. A differentiating factor and strength is that CAMP provides a regular destination for young families who might visit frequently. The CAMP model points to the future of experiential retail.

Eatrenalin

Europa-Park, Rust, Germany

Thea Award For Outstanding AchievementExperiential Dining Attraction

The teams behind Eatrenalin have created an experience that combines world-class gastronomy with a theme park ride, immersive art, and a live show. A portmanteau of “Eat” and “Adrenalin”, Eatrenalin is an innovative, immersive dining experience where every guest’s seat is a ride vehicle that transports them from room to room, and each location represents a different theme in their culinary journey. The creations of Michelin-starred chefs are presented in a space of stunning design, with storytelling, dramatic music, and excellent media integration adding up to a completely unique dining experience.

Within a modern, streamlined building guests enter a futuristic lounge to be organized into color-coded groups of 16. After an introduction in the digital waterfall room, each guest’s seating is revealed: a comfortable chair that is also a custom ride vehicle developed specifically for Eatrenalin.

Once seated, these “floating chairs” drive the guests from room to room and adjust the guest’s position to most

comfortably sit in each room. The seating configuration changes throughout the evening and guests feel like they’re dining in eight different restaurants, each with its own cuisine and story. The two-hour gastronomic experience takes place across 1,600 square meters and the audio and video design take the experience to an even higher level. An AI character named Lina guides guests throughout their journey, making the experience part dining, part story, part live show. The experience concludes in an elegant bar where guests linger after their meal, deconstructing and processing what they just experienced.

It is worthy of recognition for its originality alone, but its execution is at the highest level across the board. It is a seamless, fun, delicious, sensory evening that sets a new standard for immersive dining experiences around the world. Not only is Eatrenalin one of the best theme park restaurants anywhere, it is one of the most exciting new dining destinations on Earth. Europa-Park set out to create “the restaurant of the future” – and succeeded.

CONGRATULATIONS

TO THE EATRENALIN-TEAM AND ALL 2024 THEA AWARD RECIPIENTS

Geneva Journey

Geneva, Switzerland

Thea Award For Outstanding AchievementLive Spectacular

This special event drone show over Geneva Harbor, with technical innovation in drone sequencing and flight, innovatively integrated reflective and conceptual elements, utilizing this fantastic technology to share a unique form of art with the widest possible audience.

Geneva Journey was a multimedia drone show performed on 18,19 and 20 May 2023 at Geneva Harbor, in Switzerland. Billed as the largest drone show in Europe to date, this live spectacular featured 1,400 programmed light drones, 11 heavy carrier drones and 400 light drones equipped with pyrotechnic sky effects.

The show incorporated a traditional boat from Leman Lake, the Neptune (the largest sailing boat on Lake Geneva, a protected historic monument) delineated entirely with LED lights, and enhanced by architectural lighting at the lake level.

Some of the show’s notable technical innovations include:

• Coordination of three fleets of completely different drones, with sequenced take-off, flying the entire fleet 900-meters from the take-off area

• Synchronized use of multiple type of fireworks on the drones

• The movement of the boat itself

What made Geneva Journey so successful was bringing reflective and conceptual elements to the drone show platform. Playing to spectators settled on the two banks of the lake, this technically spectacular night show also told a story – a poetic evocation of AI or aliens visiting Geneva and reinterpreting what they saw.

Geneva Journey stands as a new milestone for large-scale events and drone shows. Its combination of technical and creative elements sets new standards in these domains, enabling drone technology to communicate with an international audience and be a platform for artistic expression on a vast scale. The remarkable music track composed for this event gave this show a unique identity, engaging the audience in an atmospheric and peaceful voyage.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind

EPCOT, Lake Buena Vista, Florida, USA

Thea Award For Outstanding AchievementAttraction

Combining cutting-edge coaster engineering with eyepopping visuals and pulse-pounding music, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind represents a quantum leap forward in combining immersive story with high thrills, delivered with a cool, pop-culture swagger.

It seems we have the heir apparent to Space Mountain, with a whole new twist – literally. Roller coasters had been around for nearly a century before Walt Disney Imagineering introduced the unique concept of Space Mountain in 1975, transforming the coaster experience by putting it indoors with complete control of theatrical lighting and sound. Today, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind takes guests into a new era of this immersive thrill experience.

At the Wonders of Xandar pavilion in EPCOT, a “cultural exchange” between Xandarians and Terrans becomes an unexpected deep-space adventure. Through gallery-style exhibits, Guests learn about the two worlds and then are teleported onto a Xandarian ship. This spectacular, room-scale illusion makes way for a final demonstration of the Xandarian Cosmic Generator.

During the demonstration, Celestial villain Eson the Searcher steals the Cosmic Generator and uses it to create a jump point to the dawn of time, with the intention of erasing human existence. The Guardians of the Galaxy, called upon to retrieve the Cosmic Generator, enlist guests to track down Eson.

Guests then board Nova Corp Starjumper evacuation shuttles and are launched backwards in a chase through space and time. These unique coaster cars can be rotated to face any direction - at speeds over 50 miles per hour. (Unlike a “spinning coaster’s” random patterns, this ride’s rotation is motorized and highly controlled, keeping guests immersed in the story unfolding around them.) Through high-definition media throughout, the guests’ POV constantly changes for thrilling immersion into the story; sometimes forwards, sometimes backwards, sometimes in a 360-degree spin orbiting Earth.

Of course, no Guardians of the Galaxy adventure would be complete without a mixtape. With six possible songs randomized at each launch and a surround sound mix of dialogue, sound effects and music, every ride is a new adventure.

Le Mime et L’Étoile

Puy Du Fou, Les Epesses, France

Thea Award For Outstanding AchievementLive Show

Set in the era of the Belle Epoque - a period in European history with feasts of high artistry and cultural development - Puy De Fou’s Le Mime et L’Étoile is an artistic tribute to the beginnings of cinema told as a fabled love story. Two thousand audience members are invited to the 40,956 square-feet, 27-minute theatrical experience to witness the filming of a brand-new motion picture. The adventure combines more than 120 performers across 2km (1.24 miles) of tracking shot streetscapes with period costumes, and largescale scenic elements in a symphony of dance, music and storytelling.

Guests enter a studio set in 1914, where the show’s director is making his dreams come true by bringing color and sound to a black-and-white film. He is convinced that if two people express a sincere and mutual love for each other in front of his camera, cinema will come alive with speech and color. Our role as guests is to come along on the journey to test this theory. We follow the young lovers, Mimoza and Garance.

The staged action unfolds like a tracking shot (or journey). With the spectator's eye being the show's camera, this placed emphasis on the motion dynamics of the set. The actual sets travel hundreds of meters, scrolling in front of the grandstand. All the elements are precisely programmed, choreographed and synchronized and the players and other elements proceed across a moving floor via a sophisticated conveyor belt.

Everything from sets, props, costumes, and make-up to the lighting was designed to provide the black-and-white film illusion in live performance, without relying on cameras or filters to fool the eye. The idea of a “gray” light quickly emerged during prototyping along with the need for permanent video-mapping of a large part of the set. The result depended on bold execution and coordination of all theatrical elements to arrive at consistent gray and white tones. The Puy du Fou artistic and production teams have undertaken major artistic risks to devise a unique scenographic language.

75

Puy du Fou is the originator of the show “Le Mime et l’Étoile”, deemed an oeuvre collective as such term is defined under French law.

The whole development, design and production is a collective work of Puy du Fou’s team.

Musikkfabrikken Hunderfossen

Hunderfossen Eventyrpark, Lillehammer, Norway

Thea Award For Outstanding AchievementAttraction, Limited Budget

Musikkfabrikken “THE MUSIC FACTORY” is a playand-learn experience blending classical music and synesthesia, a phenomenon where some people see shapes and colors when they hear sounds or music. The attraction exemplifies an impressive reuse of an existing, 1000-squaremeter, 4D theater building in a family-owned theme park nestled in the heart of Norway. Musikkfabrikken is a testament to creativity, innovation, and the power of music and imagination.

This enchanting experience is brought to life with a playful nod to modern communication technology and beloved children's culture, ensuring that visitors of all ages are in for an unforgettable adventure. What sets Musikkfabrikken apart is the incorporation of animated and live characters who infuse a sense of whimsy, fun, and mischievous humor into every facet of the attraction, promising plenty of laugh-out-loud moments.

Musikkfabrikken unfolds in three parts. The pre-show treats the audience to an acoustic musical performance by a group

of animated characters at a grand piano. The harmony of music and animation sets the stage for what lies ahead. Next, visitors step into a 4D cinema with a full array of special effects. The film, devoid of language, tells the story of Herbert, a young boy with a unique form of perception that allows him to see colors when sounds are heard. The soundtrack is provided by the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra. The final segment is a musical and interactive walk-through, where guests have the opportunity to create their own synesthetic effects on the surrounding walls.

The adjoining Aurora Gastronomis restaurant, themed on the Aurora Borealis, allows guests to dine under a simulation of the Northern lights.

Musikkfabrikken came together through a fusion of multiple creative talents, cutting edge production technologies and a world-class orchestra. The unique storyline, the topquality theme design, the animations and the soundtrack all work together to creatively touch guests’ minds, hearts and imaginations. It is both engaging and fun; visitors emerge smiling and laughing together.

Peaky Blinders: The Rise

Camden Stables Market, London, United Kingdom

Thea Award For Outstanding AchievementLive Interactive Experience

This immersive, interactive theater experience was based on the hit BBC TV series “Peaky Blinders.” The two-hour, site-specific, choose-your-own-adventure live show experience, set at the historic Camden Market in London, ran June 2022 - May 2023 and immersed guests in the raucous, gangsterfilled underworld of the show.

Guests were invited to enter the 1920s London party scene of the Peaky Blinders gang surrounded by beloved characters and iconic environments filled with pulsing music, flowing libations, and backroom deals. The experience followed the rise in fortune of Peaky Blinders lead character Tommy Shelby and his family as they work to expand their criminal empire. Tommy wants to expand the “family business” into London and is throwing a party for friends and family to make this happen.

Guests may choose to become an associate of the Shelby family gang or plot with the Italian mafia to determine the

family’s fate. They are encouraged to dress the part in 1920s attire and are assigned a family color scheme to denote their alliances. They enter The Camden Garrison, a theater which boasts the elaborate, immersive sets of the show, featuring original TV show production pieces. As the evening unfolds, guests wander the highly-detailed and richly-layered sets from the TV series and experience unmissable character interactions, all in the 1920s nightlife setting.

With a plethora of exciting activities, subplots and storylines, the experience is unique for all who enter the world of Peaky Blinders: The Rise. The richness of immersive storytelling engulfs the guest in a fictional world populated with live action characters, yet still offers the guest agency to impact the overall show storyline in an organic fashion. This is an accomplishment to be recognized. The richness of historical environmental storytelling throughout the experience via worldclass set design and costuming is worthy of being celebrated.

Thea Award For Outstanding AchievementVisitor Experience Re-envisioned, Limited Budget

In January 2023 the Titanic Experience went dark for two months, to reopen in March with four refreshed and reimagined galleries. The new storytelling is front and center with the impact on Belfast itself a close second.

The wildly successful Titanic Belfast Experience originally opened in 2012. In 2018, they began planning for future growth and expansion. The plan was to rework the last three galleries of the original floor plan into four galleries with new and expanded storytelling and a big “Wow!” factor.

This project took home its first Thea honors in 2014 and subsequently garnered a host of other awards. It has been recognized for its sensitive and thoughtful approach to a horrific tragedy. For the community of Belfast, the story has deep social, political and economic impact and meaning.

The project’s reimagining leans more sensorial and immersive, with the inclusion of more human stories. When guests leave the last of the 2012 galleries, The Sinking, they enter the

newly reworked space where the Pursuit of Dreams opens up new chapters of the story starting with Never Again. What follows is a pause to follow Robert Ballard and his quest to find the Titanic which he finally does in 1985. Continuing along the self-guided walk-through, guests arrive at the pinnacle: The Ship of Dreams - a replica spanning some seven meters, with 30,000 LEDs, new music (violin of course), animation and a light show. Finally, in the Lasting Legacy galleries visitors engage in stories of those impacted by the iconic ship - passengers who dreamed of starting a new life in America, as well as those who built the ship in Belfast and those who discovered the wreck.

The original iteration became the vortex of a major urban transformation, and that commercial and civic partnership has expanded and continued. Titanic Belfast is a catalyst that has contributed an estimated £430 million to the local city's economy since it opened. This is an example of best practices in destination development, community engagement and Storytelling Sensitivity.

COO/President and CEO/Principal-in-Charge, Visual Terrain, Inc.

TEA® Peter Chernack Distinguished Service Award

Recognizing exceptional volunteer service to the Association, TEA Service Awards are recommended by the TEA Past Presidents Committee, which established the award. The recipients of the Service Award are honored during the annual Thea Awards Gala. The late TEA Past President Peter Chernack was instrumental in creating the TEA Service Award, and after he passed away in 2016, it was renamed to celebrate his contributions.

Lisa Passamonte Green and David Green have been TEA members and supporters since they started their respective companies in the mid 1990s and early 2000s.

Lisa got her start with Universal Studios Hollywood, rehabbing the lighting design for the Battlestar Galactica attraction, before being hired at Walt Disney Imagineering. There, she worked on Disneyland Paris, Disneyland Toontown, Walt Disney World New Tomorrowland, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and in the Disneyland SQS group, where she got to work with TEA Buzz Price Lifetime Achievement Award recipient Kim Irvine, and Disney Legend Leota Toombs, who was one of her early mentors. “Leota taught me that one person could make a huge difference,” says Lisa.

David started at WED Imagineering in 1980, where he worked on the Houston WEDWay PeopleMover, Fantasyland Rehab, EPCOT Center, and Tokyo Disneyland. 10 years later, he worked at Walt Disney Studios, Disney Animation, Disney TeleVentures, and a secret division of Disney.com. He later described his experience at EPCOT in the book, “Building a Better

Mouse,” which just released its 40th anniversary edition, that he co-wrote with Steve Alcorn and uncredited TEA Master Glenn Birket.

Lisa’s outplacement counselor when she was laid off from Disney in 1994 was TEA founder Monty Lunde, who became a mentor. Soon after starting Passamonte Lighting Design in 1995, she joined the TEA. Lisa has served on the TEA International Board, Thea Awards Judging Committee, and is now vicechair of the TEA Masters Committee.

In 2001, David was laid off from Disney, and started Monteverdi Creative. As he had watched Lisa work with the TEA for several years, he also became an active member, joining committees and attending and sponsoring events. An unapologetic introvert, David prefers a more behind-the-scenes approach. He co-wrote or wrote the Thea Awards Gala show scripts from 2005 through 2009, and once provided music direction and voiceover talent.

98

Passamonte Lighting Design and Monteverdi Creative became Visual Terrain in 2011, and with David and Lisa as co-owners, they continued their support of the TEA, together. The duo has been on many Thea Award-recognized project teams. As of 2024, Visual Terrain has received 16 Thea Awards; Monteverdi Creative received one.

A funny thing happened on the way to the Gala: Lisa and David realized they could encourage their employees to support the TEA too. Visual Terrain has provided lighting design and/or produced Thea Awards Gala productions 12 times. In particular: Steven Young, who has designed the lighting for most of Visual Terrain’s Thea Galas, and now serves on the Western Board, Nicole Eng who designed the lighting for the 2023 Gala, and Christina Martin,

Steeve Vajk, Mallory Paddock and Austin Kelm, who were on the crew in 2023, along with Nicole’s boyfriend Ben Rehm, who programmed the lighting. “Our other employees may not have worked directly on the Gala,” said David, “but they often made it possible for those who did, to do so. Jonathan Lebovic, Lucius Lee, Mike Mahlum, Michelle Malakoff, Marihan Mehelba, and Lilian Moseley also deserve recognition, along with the rest of our team.” (Nicole and Christina are also past members of the TEA NextGen committee.)

Over the years, David and Lisa have occasionally provided financial sponsorship to the TEA, presented at TEA events, galas, and webinars. Lisa also mentors TEA NextGen members in her role as TEA Master, with which she was recognized in 2019.

Lisa is driven by a desire to ensure the TEA’s support for small businesses and sole consultants in the industry continues, guaranteeing that everyone has a voice, and ensuring the membership is diverse, inclusive, and representative.

For David, seeing little diversity in the TEA in the earlier days, he was more focused on just being “that voice” in the room. He prides himself on writing Thea Gala scripts with humor, respect, and inspiration. “My favorite script,” David says, “was the 2009 Thea Gala that literally had everyone standing.”

Lisa and David are committed to working for the greater good, and inspiring others to do the same.

Peter Chernack was an early cheerleader for Lisa when she first joined the TEA, encouraging her to be not just a member, but an active supporter. Lisa and David are inspired by all those who have been

recognized by the Peter Chernack Distinguished Service Award before them.

David had prostate cancer in 2009. Lisa was diagnosed with breast cancer in September 2022. David says, “When you are a cancer survivor, you start to think about what you have achieved on the planet. Receiving the Peter Chernack award tells us that we haven’t done what we’ve done, for nothing. We are thrilled, honored, and humbled to be recognized, and really feel seen and appreciated.”

“In 2023, I conquered cancer,” Lisa says, “and our amazing Visual Terrain team opened 22 projects, while also working on designs for several more, which will open in the coming years. Without the team’s unwavering support, David and I couldn’t volunteer our services, and those of our team. We are so appreciative for each employee’s commitment to the greater good.”

We couldn’t have done it

without YOU!

David & Lisa wish to thank all of our employees, clients, vendors, colleagues, friends, and family, for 29 years of support.

We appreciate the TEA for recognizing us with the Peter Chernack Distinguished Service Award and for being there for Visual Terrain from almost the very beginning. Being a part of the TEA has been an invaluable part of our lives, and we are humbled, pleased, and honored.

Visual Terrain congratulates all of this year’s Thea Award recipients on their recogntion, with special acknowledgement to Chairman Su for his Buzz Price Lifetime Achievement Award, and to Chimelong—and the entire team—for the Thea Award for the Bermuda Storm Theatre.
