Dominic Cooke | Country UK Year 2017 | 110 mins | Cast | Saoirse Ronan, Billy Howle, Emily Watson, Samuel West Out on the beach on Florence and Edward’s fateful wedding day, one of them makes a major decision that will utterly change both of their lives forever. On Chesil Beach is a powerful, insightful drama about two people, both defined by their upbringing, bound by the social mores of another era.

By exposing the local townsfolk to the best literature of the day, she opens their eyes causing a cultural awakening. Her activities bring her a kindred spirit and ally, Mr Brundish who is sick of the town’s stale atmosphere. This mini social revolution soon brings her fierce enemies: she invites the hostility of the town’s less prosperous shopkeepers and also crosses Mrs. Gamart.
