We are very pleased to welcome Andrew back to the Lime Tree Gallery after his Portable Darkness show of 2011.
Since he last exhibited with us, Andrew’s work has gained further esteem on the continent with a solo show at Knoerle-Baettig Galerie in Switzerland. This new self-titled exhibition explores the conventional depictions of still life, landscape, botanical and wildlife studies and quite simply transforms them. These works become something very different, something more, in the hands of this contemporary artist from the Black Isle. Andrew’s work is conservatively titled and introduces geometric shapes, into which certain subject matter is depicted. This simplicity in naming his works often confuses viewers, which, when coupled with the paintings darkly depicted, often obscure subjects, his use of phosphorescent pigments that bring his paintings to life in the dark, encourages viewers to dwell on works long after seeing them.
