Course Overview Selection and data gathering are considered by practitioners all around the world to be the most challenging aspects in working with Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). A way to address these challenges is to build a sound framework to measure KPIs, starting from the moment they are selected, until results are collected to be centralized in performance reports.

The KPI Institute has developed a rigorous KPI Measurement Framework that embeds 10 years of research in the field and relies on best practices applicable in the real business environment. The KPI Measurement Framework represents the fundamentals for the educational program Certified KPI Professional and Practitioner. Certified KPI Professional is a three days training course focused on improving the knowledge and skills of participants in how to work with KPIs and create value added from performance measurement. It is designed to develop basic competencies for professionals in this field of expertise. Certified KPI Practitioner is a two days training course meant to improve the practical skills in working with KPIs and developing instruments like scorecards, dashboards and KPI documentation forms. Unlike the first training course that is available for all professionals regardless of their level of expertise in measuring performance, this is a learning program dedicated to individuals who are already Certified KPI Professionals and are interested in further improving their practical competencies in measuring performance. The applied exercises of this course will enable participants to complete a trial run of the main steps required for a KPI implementation initiative, from project planning to KPI selection, data gathering and visualization.

Certified KPI Practitioner diploma: after you have successfully completed all of the 3 stages of the learning experience, including the submission of KPI Practitioner Portfolio. In order to obtain the Certified KPI Practitioner title, your portfolio must be evaluated at minimum 360 points out of 450. The learning process is not finalized when the core-course ends. Participants are required to develop their KPI Practitioner Portfolio that will be evaluated within 2 weeks after submission in order to receive the Certified KPI Practitioner title. KPI Practitioner Portfolio – consists in 15 tools that applicants must developed based on the best practices promoted by the KPI Institute; Practitioner Journal – represents a document aimed to strengthen the learning process during the completion of the portfolio; Evaluation conversation – to follow up on the submission of the KPI Practitioner Portfolio, the applicant will be requested to participate to a 30 minutes discussion meant to gain more insights into the approach of developing the portfolio.

The 2 days of Certified KPI Practitioner training are characterized by high interactivity and group activities, combined with individual work. The learning experience is designed to help participants develop the final portfolio necessary to obtain the KPI Practitioner Certificate. During this stage, you are: Dedicating 90% of the time to KPIs related practical exercises; Completing exercises that are designed based on real life examples, following a KPI implementation case study, from project planning to KPI data visualization; Receiving tips and tricks for overcoming the most common challenges of performance measurement; Sharing experiences and forming a community of practice; Receiving assistance and constant feedback on your work.

Facilitators

This part of the learning experience is meant to ensure a smooth transition to the face to face training. Participants are required to take the following steps: Needs assessment - complete the needs analysis questionnaire so that we can offer you a relevant learning experience; Pre-course evaluation – take the pre-course evaluation quiz in order to get an overview of the level of knowledge you have, before the core-course. In this way, you can better establish personal learning objectives. Guidance and schedule – analyze a document presenting guidelines on how to maximize your learning experience; Introduction – share an introduction message to present themselves to the other participants in an online group; Share expectations – participants post their expectations regarding the training course in the dedicated online forum; Prerequisite reading – review key concepts discussed during the KPI Professional Certification Training Course, for refreshing the knowledge and facilitating the practical deployment of theoretical concepts.

Facilitators Mihai Toma

Head of Professional Practice TKI MENA Mihai Toma is the Head of Professional Practice MENA at The KPI Institute, the global authority on Key Performance Indicators research and education. His research activity in the Performance Management field has resulted in the documentation and revision of over 1000 Key Performance Indicators.

Some of Mihai’s most significant research programs have resulted in the development of several publications such as “The KPI Compendium” and the “Top 25 KPIs in 2011-2012” Report Series. Mihai gained a solid background in implementing performance management systems as he facilitated The KPI Institute’s establishment with strategic direction and with cascading KPIs from organizational level to individual level. He has been actively involved in the implementation and design of KPI operational dashboards and functional performance scorecards. He assisted in developing the performance management system architecture for The KPI Institute’s clients from various industries and functional areas. As a facilitator, Mihai developed and delivered training courses on selecting and documenting KPIs, managing individual performance, as well as The KPI Institute’s KPI Professional Certification course.

Dr. Ahmed Samy serves on the National Board of the Association for Strategic Planning, based in the USA. He is an expert coach and advisor on strategy & performance management, project & change management, quality & organizational excellence, as well as decision sciences research &development. Throughout his broad experience, he has developed complementary skills that enabled him to help organizations transform in a way that adds bottom-line value. Dr. Samy is also a regular invited speaker at professional conferences, where he addresses topics related to strategy alignment, balanced scorecard implementation, the role of technology in strategy execution, and applied decision sciences. Dr. Samy has led a portfolio of strategic business transformational and technology-based initiatives including organizational-wide business process re-engineering, outsourcing and strategic partnership framework, portfolio management office comprehensive framework, human capital development, organizational restructuring, corporate strategy development, cascading and alignment, and knowledge management frameworks with top multinational management and technology consulting firms. Dr. Samy holds a PhD in Business Forecasting, a Master’s in Business Administration, and a Master’s in Software Engineering from a top tier university in the USA, and additional professional certifications.

Registration cancellation procedure Any withdrawals have to be announced at least two weeks before the beginning of the course, through fax or e-mail. In this situation, the attendance fee will be refunded, less $400 retained for administrative expenditure. The attendance fee will not be refunded if the withdrawal from the course takes place less than 2 weeks before its start date. If you find yourself in the impossibility to attend the course after the registration process is already completed you may delegate another person to attend the course in your place without any further fees charged.
