Our Beginning • Conditions of people after the end of the civil war started the momentum • Group of students from University of Peradeniya started a project called “Nessakkarangal” to provide help in Vanni • Involvement of Alumni of University of Peradeniya in Canada to support “Nessakkarangal” • Awareness and support from local Toronto community • Launch of Anpuneri Humanitarian Relief Organization (ANPUNERI)


Our Mission “ANPUNERI mobilizes Canadian Tamils and the general public in restoring and rehabilitating those who were orphaned, disabled, or severely affected by the thirty-year Sri Lankan civil war. We also support sustainable rehabilitation programs run by reliable and trusted organizations�


Projects with IMHO • Assistance to build sanitation facilities in Vavuniya IDP camps • Wheelchair donations • Micro credit assistance to severely affected families • Eastern Province flood relief efforts • Total cost $17450


Assistance to Build Sanitation facilities in Vavuniya IDP camps • After the war ended, heavy rain hit the Vavuniya IDP camps; sanitation facilities washed off by the rain • The ratio was 1 toilet for 80 people. • IMHO launched “Adapt a toilet” project to support  Click to edit Master text styles affected IDPs  Second level • ANPUNERI funded the  Third level construction of 10 toilets  Fourth level • Cost of this project was $3,600  Fifth level


Wheelchair Donations • Funded 12 wheelchairs to the war amputees • Project completed through ANPUNERI-IMHO Canada Click to edit Master text styles Partnership  Second level  Third level • Cost of this project was  Fourth level $2,850 

• Mobility aids are still a great need for many in Vanni

Micro credit Assistance to Severely Affected Families • 28 widows and 53 students were supported • Each beneficiary received monetary assistance to restart their normal life. • Project completed through ANPUNERI-IMHO Partnership • Total cost is $10,000


Eastern Province Flood relief Efforts
