Dear Dwight Parents, Alumni, and Friends, It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the 2014 Dwight School Foundation Spring Benefit – Reach for the Stars. For 141 years, reaching for greatness is what our world-class faculty at Dwight have done, day in and day out, in order to ignite the spark of genius in every child. Tonight is an opportunity to celebrate our wonderful mission with friends from the Dwight community. I hope this evening you will also make new friends. Every member of the Dwight community has a fascinating story to share, which enriches the unique Dwight experience. Lastly, the event would not even be possible were it not for our hard-working Spring Benefit Committee and the Foundation’s Advancement Office, as well as everyone who generously donated items to the auction. Thank you so much for all your efforts. Proceeds from tonight’s event help ensure that Dwight faculty and students will have the resources to not only reach for the stars, but to grasp them as well. Per aspera ad astra,

Stephen H. Spahn Chancellor

A message from the Advancement Office Dear Members of the Dwight Community, Thank you so much for supporting the Spring Benefit, which deeply impacts Dwight faculty and students. We are enormously grateful to our stellar Spring Benefit Committee, the Foundation Board of Trustees, and others who have generously donated time, talent, and resources to make this evening a success. Thanks to your support over the years, The Dwight School Foundation has been able to provide financial aid to Dwight students to ensure we have the most talented and interesting student body, regardless of their ability to pay. Thanks to your generosity, the Foundation has also been able to provide professional development – from graduate school courses and IB training, to a wide range of workshops, conferences and innovative curriculum development – to ensure that Dwight faculty continue pushing the envelope with the most effective 21st Century instructional practices. In 2013-14 the Foundation contributed $1.9M in financial aid and $400k in professional development grants. While the Annual Fund represents the bread and butter of our fundraising efforts, the Spring Benefit is an opportunity to have an elegant, entertaining night out with friends, bid on silent and live auction items that strike your fancy, and take pride that every dollar you spend is positively impacting Dwight faculty and students. So please, eat, drink, and be merry – Dwight faculty and students are worth it! With much appreciation,

GENERAL CONDITIONS OF SALE The list values of items are estimates of fair market or retail prices. A minimum opening bid has been specified for all goods and services included in the auction. All sales are final. There will be no refunds, substitutions, or exchanges. Merchandise is sold “as is,” and without any express or implied warranty or representation of any kind, including correctness of description, authenticity, condition, or quality. All items have been donated to The Dwight School Foundation and are being sold by it and not the donor. All items and services must be used within the time limits expressly stated in the auction catalog and are subject to terms and conditions stipulated by the donors. The maximum time limit on any service is one year from the date of the purchase unless otherwise stated and may be subject to availability. Winning bidders are urged to read gift certificates carefully, note any restrictions or conditions of use, and arrange to redeem the gift certificates as soon as possible. Goods and services have been generously donated by the designated firms and individuals to The Dwight School Foundation. Any tax deductions for their donation belong to the donors. Successful bidders are purchasers of items of value and, as such, their bids are not tax-deductible except for that portion of the bid that is above the fair market value of the item. Raffle ticket purchases are not tax-deductible. No New York State or local tax is required on the purchase of lots offered for sale by The Dwight School Foundation. The Dwight School Foundation’s Director of Development will resolve any disputes regarding the auction.

Many thanks to Mr. Stephen H. Spahn, administrators, teachers, and all of the Dwight School staff for your dedication and support.
