ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE The College of Idaho has built a legacy of academic excellence and outstanding teaching. At the core of that tradition is the one-on-one relationships students build with their teachers. Your professors are going to ask difficult questions and encourage you to reflect on your beliefs. At the same time, they will offer individual support both in class and in your everyday life. That’s because C of I professors care about their students. They want to help you build your strengths, overcome your weaknesses, pursue your passions and reach your potential. Perhaps you’ll study molecular biology under Dr. Sara Heggland or perform at Carnegie Hall under the direction of Dr. Brent Wells, or perhaps you’ll dive into the intricacies of Shakespeare with Dr. Eric Spencer or discover new plant species with the help of Dr. Don Mansfield. C of I is a pioneer in innovative education, and nothing illustrates that more than our distinctive PEAK Curriculum, a liberal arts education in the truest sense of the definition. In four years, you will earn a major and three minors spread across four knowledge peaks: fine arts and humanities, natural science and math, social sciences and history, and professional studies.

SCHOLARSHIPS The College of Idaho offers a variety of academic scholarships to qualified students. Academic scholarships and grants are offered through the admission process. If your academic achievements meet requirements, the Office of Admission will offer you a merit award. Students are automatically considered for most merit awards and do not need to submit any additional applications or essays to qualify. Merit awards range from $7,000 - $15,000. Our traditional annual merit awards are the following:

Scholarship Presidential Trustee Dean William Judson Boone PEAK

Amount Per Year $15,000 $13,000 $11,000 $9,000 $7,000

ATHLETICS Coyote student-athletes are winners. Not just in sports, but in life. Our coaches will help you become your best self both on the field and in the classroom. And you will enjoy the support of the YoteFam – our community of die-hard fans who will cheer you on to great success! More than one-third of C of I students compete for one of the College’s 20 varsity teams. Coyote student-athletes have captured more than two dozen individual national titles in skiing, snowboarding, cross country and track along with team national championships in men’s basketball, baseball and skiing. Since 2011 alone, the C of I has brought home 25 individual National Titles! In addition to their athletic successes, our studentathletes dominate in the classroom, bringing their passion for their sport and applying it straight to their studies. As a result, each year the C of I is among the national leaders in Academic AllAmericans and NAIA Scholar-Athletes. Whether you’re seeking glory on the field or cheering on the Yotes from the stands, you’ll be part of our YoteFam. Go Purple with us and show the world how the Yotes work hard and play hard!

ARTS With challenge comes opportunity. That’s what you’ll find at The College of Idaho – an artistic environment where you can strengthen your existing talents and discover new ones. You’ll open the door to exciting opportunities, discover new passions and do exceptional things. C of I students of all majors and backgrounds participate in a wide variety of performance groups, including instrumental and choral music, theatre, art and debate. In recent years, the C of I choir has performed in prestigious venues around the country, including historic Carnegie Hall. C of I’s Marching Band has reformed following the return of football and regularly participates at both athletic and local community events. The College also hosts dozens of concerts, recitals, operas, plays and art exhibitions each year. In addition to performing, you’ll learn from an outstanding arts faculty that includes the string music experts of the C of I Langroise Trio, longtime Idaho Shakespeare Festival funnyman Joe Golden and award-winning painter Garth Claassen.

Greetings from

THE COPRESIDENTS As you consider the many choices available in higher education, we hope this Viewbook gives you a clear picture of how The College of Idaho has been providing an exceptional liberal arts education for 128 years, and why you should join us.

Some of the recent accolades from outside sources that point to how The College of Idaho remains a beacon of excellence in higher education is the recently released U.S. News & World Report 2019 Best College Rankings. The College made one of the largest leaps upward of any school in the nation, rising 37 spots to rank 131st for National Liberal Arts Colleges, our first time breaking into the top 150 in the nation! Other highlights include being regularly listed by the Wall Street Journal as Idaho’s #1 College, annually ranked in the Princeton Review’s Best 384 Colleges, and recently named by the career site Zippia as Idaho’s top school for job placement. The College is also home to four Carnegie Foundation Idaho Professors of the Year, and with a 9:1 student-faculty ratio, our students benefit from our experienced faculty on a daily basis and will be mentored to find more than a career, but a calling for their lives. The College of Idaho is also extremely cost-competitive, even with public schools. During the 2017-2018 academic year, The College of Idaho awarded $14 million in institutional scholarships to students. This may be why USA Today ranked the C of I an America’s Best Value College (#5 in the United States). We are committed to making attendance to the College possible for all students, which is why 30-percent of our students last year were first-generation students. We also bring the world to Idaho. With nearly one-third of our student body representing diverse cultures, including nearly 13-percent international students representing more than 70 countries, one could argue that we are the most diverse 55 acres in the State of Idaho. But don’t take our word for it. Please come visit us and find out for yourself!
