Dr. James W. Smith ’64 was awarded an honorary doctorate exactly 50 years after receiving his bachelor’s degree at the C of I. Smith, a Boise cardiologist, donated $1 million to Phase II of the Boone Science Hall Renovation Project, which is being completed this summer. estselling author Christopher Farnsworth ’93 (left) talked about society’s fascination with apocalypses during his commencement address. “The only thing we know for certain about the future is that we have to live there,” he said. “The only choice we get is what kind of future we want to create; zombies or jetpacks? It’s up to you. It’s time to stop waiting for the end of the world, and start working to save it.”
