Adapted for the stage by the Blunderbus team, with music and lyrics by Frank Goodhind. Plop is a baby barn owl. He lives at the top of a tall tree, in a field. He is fat and fluffy. He has big round eyes and very knackety knees. Plop is exactly the same as every barn owl that has ever been – except for one thing. Plop is AFRAID of the DARK. One day, Mr Barn Owl suggests that Plop fly down into the world and find out about the dark for himself. So, Plop climbs out of his nest-hole, peeps over the edge, wobbles a bit, and falls off his branch. And this is where Plop’s adventure begins... Follow Plop’s adventures as he journeys into the night-time world of campfires, fireworks, starry nights and moonlit adventures. This gentle, reassuring tale is brought to life with an irresistible blend of music, puppetry and storytelling. Written especially for small people aged 3-7, and grown-ups who still sleep with the light on. Come join us, – it’s going to be a hoot!

Hugh Cornwell – Original Stranglers Frontman

The Birthday Party

As the original guitarist, singer and main songwriter in the British rock band The Stranglers, Hugh Cornwell has enjoyed massive success with 10 hit albums and 21 Top Forty singles, etching himself into Europe and the USA’s musical psyche with classic songs, including Peaches, No More Heroes, Golden Brown, Nice N’ Sleazy, Always the Sun and Duchess. Cornwell’s latest studio album TOTEM AND TABOO was released to rave reviews. Recorded at Electrical Audio Studios in Chicago, the album was engineered and mixed by the legendary Steve Albini.

By Harold Pinter

Premiered in 1958, the play has been called a ‘comedy of menace’. Nothing that is said is verifiable, and is often contradicted. Stanley Webber’s world is shattered by the arrival of two strangers at the house where he lodges with Meg and Petey Boles. Moving from mundanity, through menace, to terror, Stanley gradually loses control of his life to the sinister Golberg and McCann.

Carriageworks Young Theatre Makers Carriageworks Young Theatre Makers (CYTM) are young people aged between 10 and 19 who meet weekly in three groups to create new theatre with a unique voice.

CYTM develops young people’s skills as actors, writers and directors through the creation of original productions. Led by professional theatre director, Ruth Cooper, the members do more than just learn lines and blocking – they learn to portray their own lives, thoughts and imaginations on stage. In creating a new play, CYTM work as an ensemble, developing teamwork and performance skills and increasing their knowledge of working in live theatre. They form a supportive group in which their creativity is nurtured and they are offered a genuine platform for their ideas. A unique business and events destination

28 Box Office: 0113 224 3801

In addition to the 349 seater Main Auditorium, a further six meeting rooms are available for conferencing, meetings and workshops, accommodating various numbers of delegates. All conference rooms provide AV equipment, air conditioning and support from a dedicated commercial team. Three of the six meeting rooms are situated in the historic part of the old Carriageworks development. These attractive meeting spaces reveal exposed brickwork and roof beams in keeping with the Victorian architecture whilst providing a light and airy studio feel. These rooms are also available to hire for evening rehearsals, special occasions, workshops and classes at a competitive rate. Please call 0113 395 2157 or email carriageworksvenue@leeds.gov.uk for more information.
