editor’s note I’m going to admit it. I’m dreaming of a White Christmas. Having done exactly zero shivering on any of my 33 Christmases so far, I’m looking forward to the day I can don a Bridget Jonesstyle ugly jumper and rug up for my favourite day of the year. This Christmas, I’m afraid I’ll be sweating it out with the rest of the Queenslanders, foregoing turkey and hot roasted nuts in favour of cold cuts and fresh seafood. Instead of eggnog, we will be sipping on Pimms or iced tea. No sledding for us – we’ll be toting our SUP boards to the beach instead.

Of course it’s quite delightful to have Christmas in summer in Australia, particularly in Queensland, where the weather Gods have blessed us disproportionately. I simply must make the effort to get to see that White Christmas of my dreams someday, though, so I’m telling you all so you can hold me to my word. If I’m not at least planning a White Christmas holiday by this time next year, I want you to all call me ridiculous. Thanking you in advance and wishing you all the Happiest of Christmasses.

Shelly Beach really turned it on for us, and the drone captured it in all its glory.

We were all rather enamoured by Tango, the horse.
