Santa As A Child T

here are days, when I sit quietly alone by the fireside and think what do people really think of me? I want you all to look at me and ask yourselves, “do you like me?” Do I look jolly? Well, I hope the answer to those questions is YES!

During these quiet moments I also get very nostalgic and remember a time long ago when, as a little boy, I was not jolly at all! In fact, I was unhappy because I thought I was never any good at anything! As hard as I tried, I was never top of the class, I was never picked for the football team, and I couldn’t even run as fast as the other boys and girls.

Richard Of York Gained Battle In Vain!

So, perhaps I wasn’t bottom of the class after all! Now, I might have thought of myself as an unhappy lonely boy who was no good at anything, but even then I always wanted to be kind and helpful. And so, with little robin red breast cradled safely in my hands, I started to follow the rainbow. For miles I walked, up hill and down dale, across rivers and though valleys until daylight passed, and the sky

One day, feeling very unhappy and sorry for myself, I decided to take a walk to the enchanted forest. Feeling ever so miserable, I walked with my head down, hands in my pockets and stubbing my toes into the ground. Suddenly, I saw a beautiful robin red breast, lying still in the grass. He had a broken wing, poor fellow, “Oh, you poor thing” I said softly as I picked him up gently. “Where do you live little robin? Tell me and I will take you home immediately.” The robin looked at me sadly and said “I live in the castle at the end of the rainbow.” Just then, a beautiful rainbow appeared in the sky, a perfect arc made of the colors red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet! There were 7 colors in all, and do you know how I remember them? In school I was taught a phrase which goes like this:

started to turn dark! Suddenly, in the distance, there it was -- a beautiful, magical castle perched high on a hill, surrounded by Christmas trees whose twinkling lights seemed to dance in the moonlight! At last I had found the end of the rainbow!

Drop off your letters for Santa Now! Bring your cameras Dec. 19th when He collects them! I walked up the hill in wonder at the beautiful and enchanting sight before me, hardly believing my eyes. I pushed firmly on the huge golden gates at the entrance of the castle until they opened wide as if they were expecting me!

Children, Jimmy could have made a big mistake by running away, but that was not the answer. Talk to someone and you will see that there is always somebody who has time for you and truly cares.

Imagine my surprise when, as if by magic, the little robin flew out of my hand, his wing no longer broken. It perched on the branch of a tree. Standing next to the tree was the shadowy figure of an old man, and as I looked closer I realized it was Old Father Time! “Welcome little Santa” he said in a kind, but firm voice, “We have been waiting for your arrival for a thousand years, and tonight you have proved to us with your kindness that you are the true spirit of Christmas!” “But I am just a sad, lonely little boy who is not good at anything!” I exclaimed rather forlornly. “That is nonsense,” came his reply, “What is more important is that you are good at being good. You’re are a kind, thoughtful little boy, and from this day forward, you will be known as Santa Claus, the spirit of Christmas. And everyone will love you, and believe in you.” For the first time in my life I felt good, and happy, and it didn’t really matter any more whether I was the fastest or the cleverest. What really mattered was that I would always do my best to be good to others. Although this happened many years ago, whenever I feel sad, or that I am not good at anything, I remember the kind words of Old Father Time, when he told me “you only have to be good at being good” and I realize I am good at what I do best! I was reminded of this yesterday when someone shouted after me, “Hey Santa, you are the greatest guy on the planet!” I replied, “There is a Santa in all of us, all we have to do is find him within our hearts!” So, next time you see a rainbow, remember my story, and try to find the goodness of Santa within your own heart. “Rudolph, take us home.” I voiced. The mood changed and everybody was happy. As we approached the North Pole I looked down from the sleigh, and I could see written in the snow, in huge letters -- “WELCOME HOME JIMMY! WE LOVE YOU!” Everybody from Santa’s Village was there to welcome Jimmy back home. This made Jimmy so happy.

Santa Goes To The Moon D

id you know that everyone thinks that I only fly my reindeer on Christmas Eve? Well, that is not true because I always take them out for their daily exercise by taking the elves for rides in my sleigh. Now, I will tell you a story about the day we all went for such a flight and got very lost indeed! I can still remember the day very clearly. It was July 21, 1969, and as it was summertime. The elves wanted to fly down to Florida to visit a theme park and play with the children there. As I hitched up the sleigh I noticed Rudolph was not feeling very well, so I asked the new reindeer, Ronald, to be at the front. It would be his first time to lead the way, and as we all climbed on board, with the elves sitting where the presents would usually be, off we went -- singing songs, telling jokes, and having a wonderful time! In those days I didn’t need to contact air traffic control for permission to take off, but with everyone singing and laughing, and having such a good time, I forgot to watch where I was going. Ronald just kept flying higher and higher and higher! All of sudden, it was so dark that we could not see where we were going! “Oh dear, if only we had Rudolph with us,” I thought to myself, “His shiny red nose would have guided us home.” Instead we just kept

appeared from behind a rock. He was not scary at all, but a cute, friendly little fellow. I shook his hand. “It is the man in the moon,” I cried excitedly, “I am very pleased to meet you! I am Santa and these are my elves, and we have lost our way!” Marvin kindly said, “Do not worry, you are the first visitors I have had from planet Earth, but I will show you how to get back home.” I then told Marvin that I was Santa Claus and how every year I bring presents to the children of the world. “I’ve got a family too!” exclaimed Marvin, “Come back to my house and meet them.” So, off we went over rocks and dunes to his moon house! When I got there I told his children that if they were good girls and boys, I would come back at Christmas with my sleigh, and bring many presents for the Moon family, and reminded them that everybody needs a family, especially at Christmas. Time passed so quickly, we were having such a great time on the moon, and we even had a party before flying back home to the North Pole to tell Rudolph about our great adventure.

I was afraid and shivering from the cold, I soon fell asleep with Snowy by my side. When I woke up, to my surprise, I found that we were no longer outside in the snow, but under a big, fluffy blanket beside a huge roaring fire! Next to the hearth were two cups of steaming hot chocolate. Thankfully, someone very kind had found us and saved our lives. But who could it be, and how did we get here?

t’s story time again, and this time I am going to tell you the story of how I met Yodule Elf.

It all happened long ago after taking Snowy for a walk one day. We would always walk along the same path every morning, and sometimes I would see huge footprints in the snow. I often wondered if it could be the footprints of a Yeti, but then I would tell myself that it could not possibly be because here in the North Pole, where everything is magical and nice, we do not have such monsters! The more I thought about these footprints, the more I wanted to find out who they belonged to. One day, with Snowy by my side, I decided to follow them! We followed them for many miles when, all of a sudden, the weather began to change! The once blue sky turned dark and stormy, and it began to snow very heavily indeed! Soon I realized we were lost! “Snowy” I said, with a trembling voice, “I think I will have to call Rudolph, and ask him to come and rescue us!” So, I reached into my pocket and got out my cell phone, but when I dialed the number, to my dismay I could not get a signal! A storm was starting to brew, and all communications were temporarily lost! Oh dear, what was I to do? It had become so cold, and the blizzard made it impossible to see anything around me! “I’m so sorry Snowy,” I said with a shiver, “we are lost, and the only thing to do is to wait until the storm blows over!” So, Snowy and I sat down in the snow, and huddled together for warmth. Would the storm pass soon? Would we survive the night? Although

He then told me that he lived by himself and he did not have a family of his own. I felt so sorry for him. ‘He must be so lonely,’ I thought, when suddenly, Snowy ran over to him and started to lick him with affection. “He’s made of ice cream,” Snowy barked, his tale wagging with excitement! Imagine my surprise! he was beget a

Just then, I looked up into the sky -- the storm had passed and I could see Rudolph, who came looking for us. Yodule became scared and ran away before we could thank him. Rudolph landed, and Snowy and I climbed onto the sleigh with a sigh before safely flying home to the North Pole.

All the way home I thought of Yodule, so when we landed, I went straight over to head elf and whispered in his ear what I would like him to make for Yodule.

Christmas Eve arrived, and after delivering all of the other presents I flew off to see Yodule. As I flew over the ice cap, I could see Yodule sitting down there all alone. As I landed I said, “Merry Christmas Yodule!” “Oh Santa, where is my present? Your sleigh is empty, have you forgotten me again?” he said so sadly. “No Yodule, I told you that you would have a very special present this year, but it is too big to carry on the sleigh, so jump on board, and I will take you to see it!” When we landed in the North Pole, Head Elf ran over to greet us. “Yodule’s present is finished!” he exclaimed excitedly. “Come and see!” We followed him around a corner, and there it was, an ICE CASTLE for Yodule to live in! He would never be alone again. He would become part of our family in Santa’s village. Yodule started to cry with happiness. “Oh Santa, I am so happy. I have always wanted to be part of a family.” “You now have a family my dear friend,” I assured him, “And from this day on you will be known as Yodule Elf.” From that day, it has been wonderful to have Yodule around, especially for the elves who visit his ice castle every day, and dig into a bowl of ice cream that only Yodule can make! It is called Yodule Elf Treat!

ell children, you all know Santa loves you. Santa also loves animals. One of my greatest joys is taking my dog, Snowy, for a walk. I’m going to tell you a story about Snowy. Every time I have been away and come back home, Snowy runs to meet me and nearly knocks me over. He gets so excited. One day I had been out helping my favorite charity, and when I returned home I expected Snowy to come running toward me, but he did not -- he just sat there in the corner looking grumpy. I went over to him and asked him if he was feeling poorly and tried to stroke him. He just turned away. That upset Santa. I asked Mrs. Claus what had happened to Snowy and if she knew why he was acting like this. She told me to come in the kitchen and she would tell me. It turned out that Snowy was upset because at Christmas all the animals are not included and he wants to be SANTA PAWS. Well, I thought what a great idea this was and went back into the room and said to Snowy, “What a kind dog you are thinking of all your friends. So from this day on you will

be known as Snowy Santa Paws!” He jumped up and his tail was wagging. I could see he was very happy. “Right, Mrs. Claus. We will have to make Snowy his own Santa suit and hat and I will have to tell the elves to start making presents for the animals. We need stockings filled up with goodies, we need new cages, new beds...the lists are endless but we can do it.” I told my wife excitedly while thinking of how happy all the animals would be next Christmas. “Why did I not think of this before?”

Two days later Mrs Claus finished making the suit, and we shouted forSnowy to come and try it on. His tail was wagging so much it was difficult to fasten the buttons, but we managed, and Snowy went running over to the mirror to look at his reflection. He looked great! When Christmas Eve came, we loaded up the sleigh with something for everyone. Snowy put on his Santa suit and jumped aboard. “Are we ready to go?” asked Rudolph “I can’t wait to get back so I can get my present from Santa Paws!” I gave the command “Away Dasher, Away Dancer”, but nothing happened. All the reindeer were talking amongst themselves about what they thought they were going to get this Christmas from Santa Paws. “Come on reindeer!” I pleaded. “Concentrate! The quicker we get going, the quicker we get back to open our presents. Let’s go!” We went speeding off and up into the sky, faster than I have ever seen the reindeer fly before ,and for the first time we heard Ho Ho Ho followed by Woof Woof Woof -- Santa Paws had arrived. So now, on Christmas morning when you are opening presents, so will your pets, thanks to SANTA PAWS.
