Gala and Auction Information

Mobile Bidding in 2022 | Text2Bid Starting at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 22, you will have the opportunity to purchase Reserved Parking spots, and to bid on Premium Auction items and Silent Auction items from your phones using the Text2Bid platform. Here is how it works: • On Friday, April 22 at 8 a.m., you will receive an email with your Bid Number and/or a text message with a link to access Text2Bid. • Click on the link in the text message to register for Text2Bid. • If you didn’t receive the text message but you did receive the email: • Text BISHOPS (no apostrophe) to 71760, click the link sent back to you, and enter your Bid Number to access Text2Bid. • If you didn’t receive the text message and didn’t receive the email: • Send an email to gala@bishops.com to get your Bid Number. • Text BISHOPS (no apostrophe) to 71760, click the link sent back to you, and enter your Bid Number to access Text2Bid.

Once on the Text2Bid site, you will be able to see descriptions and values for Live Auction Items. At 10 a.m. on April 22, you will be able to purchase Reserved Parking spots and bid on Premium Auction items and Silent Auction items. You will be able to create a ‘watch list’ with automatic and maximum bids. Text message notifications will be sent when higher bids have been made.

Valet Parking Enter the School’s campus from the La Jolla Boulevard entrance and follow the directional signs to the valet station. Guests arriving by ride-share transportation may be dropped off at valet.

At the end of the evening, valet pick up will be in the parking garage at the steps near the pool. Ride-share pick up will be by the front entrance near Gilman Hall.

Check-In Check-in opens at 5:30 p.m. on April 23. Check-in tables will be located at the valet parking drop off area near the pool. At check-in, all guests will receive a name tag with their bidder number and a dinner table seating assignment. Volunteers will swipe credit cards to precheck guests (Quick Check) for a hassle-free checkout at the end of the evening. Guests who purchased their tickets with a credit card will be automatically designated Quick Check with the same credit card unless they choose another payment option. All other guests can provide another credit card or a signed, blank check that will be processed ONLY for auction purchases and donations. Final receipts and statements will be mailed in May.

Live Auction Bidding on Live Auction items will take place at the Gala on April 23. To submit an absentee bid, email gala@bishops.com. Bidding will be ongoing for the Live Auction items until each item closes in sequence as the auctioneer announces the close of bidding for each item. Winning bids may be split for payment at the completion of the Live Auction with notification to Bishop’s staff. Email gala@bishops.com to arrange.

Fixed Price Items Reserved Parking spots will be available via Mobile Bidding on the Text2Bid platform. See MOBILE BIDDING in 2022 above. All other Fixed Price items will be available to purchase at bishops-gala.com (starting April 19 at 9 a.m.) and in person at the Gala. Any unsold spots will be available for purchase on bishops-gala.com on April 24.

Premium Auction • Bidding on these items will be made electronically via your mobile phone on the Text2Bid platform. • Bidding begins on April 22 at 10 a.m. • Bidding will continue throughout the evening during the Live Auction program. • Bidding closes on April 23 at 10 p.m. • Winning bidders will receive a text notification for any item(s) they have won.

Silent Auction Bidding on these items will be made electronically via your mobile phone on the Text2Bid platform. • Bidding begins on April 22 at 10 a.m. • Bidding will continue throughout the evening during the Gala reception. • Bidding closes on April 23 at 7 p.m.

Online Auction Bidding on these items will be made online at bishops-gala.com. • Bidding begins on April 19 at 9 a.m. • Bidding closes on April 24 at 10 p.m.

Closing Instructions Winning bids may be split for payment at the completion of the Live Auction with notification to Bishop’s staff – email gala@bishops.com to arrange.

All items are sold “as is” and values are based on estimates provided by the donor. Although items may be listed in the catalog as available for bidding, the School reserves the right to remove items from bidding at any time, for any reason. All bids will be final, and the winning bid will be determined by the Text2Bid platform and the auctioneer.

Please note that direct donations to student financial aid are 100 percent tax-deductible.

Checkout and Payment You will have the option to check out on April 23 after the Live Auction closes, using the “My Bill” button on the Text2Bid platform (Reserved Parking spots, Premium Auction, Silent Auction). Payments may be made by Visa, MasterCard, Discover or American Express. For those who wish to pay by cash or check (payable to The Bishop’s School Gala), please email gala@bishops.com.

You can check out for items purchased in the Online Auction at bishops-gala.com by responding to the email you receive when the Online Auction closes on April 24 at 10 p.m. Payments may be made by Visa, MasterCard, Discover or American Express. For those who wish to pay by cash or check (payable to The Bishop’s School Gala), please email gala@bishops.com.

Item Pick Up You may pick up items in Ellen Browning Scripps Hall on April 23 starting at 10 p.m. Gala staff will be in touch the week of April 25 to schedule pickup of remaining items.

Physical items and gift certificates may be claimed at the Volunteer Center beginning on Monday, April 25 at 10 a.m. To schedule your pickup, contact Caroline Welsch at caroline.welsch@bishops.com. Reservation dates for trips, vacation accommodations or outings should be arranged with the donor within 30 days of the Gala.

Friends have been most generous in donating their personal homes, condos and time. It is the responsibility of the winning bidder to leave the premises in the same condition found upon arrival.
