Home health agencies are licensed by a state to provide care to a patient in the patient’s residence. Care must be prescribed by the patient’s attending physician as part of a written plan of care. The patient must be generally homebound. They are certified to provide care services that may be reimbursed by Medicare, Medicaid, or private insurance.
