This colourful exhibition explores the five decades of Play School by featuring toys, props and costumes from each period, alongside archival audio and video clips of past programs and presenters having fun. Chill out in our Come and Play Space, located in the Main Gallery during the Happy Birthday Play School: Celebrating 50 Years exhibition. Families can read, play, make and create alongside their Play School characters and icons. Join the Gingham family as they travel the world to collect lost toys and bring them back to be part of their family. Combining song, dance, projection and audience participation, this sweet and humorous show has impressed audiences across Australia and the world. Begin to learn to play guitar and read music the fun and easy way! Bryce Leader and his Copy, Play and Learn method takes the stress out of learning music and gets kids playing fast. Guitars and free take home guide book provided.

Some much-loved childhood classics including Diary of a Wombat and Peter Pan will be brought to The Arts Centre Gold Coast stage in 2017 and will be shared with families during our storytelling sessions.

This beginners screen workshop introduces young performers to the fundamental skills of acting, in preparation for on-camera performance and audition. Created by the acclaimed Emmy nominated casting director Tom McSweeney.

In these stage combat workshops we will teach the art of how to look like you mean business while remaining totally in control and, more importantly, SAFE! Sing your heart out with Australian recording artist Rob Mills. Rob is an Australian actor, television host and singer best known as one of the finalists from Australian Idol and appearances in multiple musicals.

Join Kyle Slabb from Banaam Indigenous Cultural Intelligence for a special day aimed at giving all children from different ethnicities a firsthand opportunity to experience the unique artistic features of Australia’s Indigenous culture.

Participants will prepare repertoire from La Fille Mal Gardee to present at the close of the workshop. Parents will be invited into the rehearsal room at 11.25am to view the informal showing and join a general discussion conducted by Queensland Ballet on the magic of ballet.

Participants will prepare repertoire from La Fille Mal Gardee and The Nutcracker. They will then present the work at 3.45pm at the close of the workshop. All participants of the day with one guest each will be invited to return to The Space at 4pm to join a Queensland Ballet special guest Q+A session.
