LET THERE BE ROCK! Last days! From the 70s to the 90s, the Gold Coast was a hot-spot of Australia’s live music touring circuit. This exhibition celebrates the heyday of hard-core rock and entertainment through stories, memorabilia, photos and footage.

LIFE DRAWING Two and a half hours of live music and life drawing. All welcome, whether you have drawn your whole life or never before. Hosted by talented local artist Rebecca Cunningham this is a unique opportunity to draw the human figure in a fun, relaxed and supportive environment.

SENIOR MOMENTS A comedy revue with a deliciously funny and fresh collection of comic sketches and songs. Gold Logie winner John Wood (Blue Heelers), Play School icon Benita Collings, master satirist Max Gillies (The Gillies Report) with former Channel 9 Midday maestro Geoff Harvey on piano, all combine to deliver a somewhat silly show for otherwise sensible seniors.

STARSTRUCK

AUSTRALIAN MOVIE PORTRAITS If you love movies, you’ll love Starstruck, a collection of striking portraits emerging from 100 years of Australian movies. Many items will be seen for the very first time, including rare film posters, 1930s scrapbooks of aspiring actors, and original costumes from iconic movies such as Picnic at Hanging Rock, My Brilliant Career and The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert.

2 Mar–28 Apr, Free Starstruck: Australian Movie Portraits was made possible through the collaboration of the National Portrait Gallery and National Film and Sound Archive of Australia (NFSA) and is supported by exhibition partner Showcast. This exhibition is supported by the National Collecting Institutions Touring and Outreach Program, an Australian Government program aiming to improve access to the national collections for all Australians.

Featuring one of the world’s oldest art forms – classical Chinese dance – along with patented scenographical effects and alloriginal orchestral works, Shen Yun opens a portal to a civilisation of enchanting beauty and enlightening wisdom.

ARTLAB HEADSHOTS WITH AARON CHAPMAN Lights, camera, action! Gold Coast artist Aaron Chapman will show kids how to professionally photograph portrait subjects. In conjunction with Gold Coast Film Festival, Aaron will take the kids through technical lighting and camera set-up to produce head shots for willing subjects.

Kids’ Workshop 9am–12pm (5–10 years), 1–4pm (11–16 years) Need head shots to launch your acting career? Want a nice photo to send to Mum? Book yourself in for the kids to take your pic. Bookings required. 10 min time slots available.
