Testimonials For the last two years I have had the privilege of training with Nicole Bosley-Smith. When I started, I was completely out of shape. I felt lousy and a check up with my doctor indicated that I needed make changes in my life. I was 50 years old and didn't think I would be able to make the changes that I wanted. Nicole thought otherwise. Through her expertise, encouragement, prodding, pushing and her patience, I was able to make remarkable changes. I began to workout 3 to 4 times a week. I started riding my bike again. Nicole gave me tips on how to improve my diet. The results have been dramatic. My check up this year was great. My doctor told me my health was terrific. My strength and endurance has steadily increased. This past September I am proud that I was able to complete my first century ride on my bike. (100 miles). The thought of being able to do that 2 years ago was simply incomprehensible. I cannot thank Nicole enough for all the hard work she put into giving me the tools to reach and surpass my health and fitness goals. She is absolutely the BEST! -

I have happily been a member of The Arena Club for the past 5 years. Through the ups and downs of being a competitive and now professional dancer, The Arena Club has been there every step of the way. This past October, I broke my left foot for the 4th time. Devastated that I could not go back on tour with "Michael Flatley's Lord of the Dance"— the dance company I had strived my whole life to be part of – I entered a local Miss America Pageant to keep me motivated through my recovery. Working with Agape and Susan Phipps on the pilates reformer, I am happy to say my foot is fully healed and I was able to compete and win my first pageant ever (current title, Miss Appalachia 2012!) Now that I am in the running to be next Miss Maryland, I keep in shape with the help of The Arena Club and their wonderful pilates reformer training! -

I have been working with Nicole for two years and have lost weight and inches. I am stronger than I have ever been. I look forward to my weekly training session because I know she will greet me with enthusiasm and a different workout each week. Her dedication and drive have pushed me to try new classes and get out of the same weekly exercise box I was in. I have continued to improve and push myself thanks to the efforts of Nicole. She continues to make a positive and healthy impact on my life. -

Fitness Tips to Keep Yourself Motivated Staying in shape need not to be dull and boring. If you have started a fitness program at one point but quit then don’t worry, you are not alone. A lot of people are really fond of starting something with no plans of finishing it – and that includes fitness programs! In order to keep you motivated, here are 7 tips you might want to look into to keep your motivation at a constant high. 1. Set goals – Goals are kinda fun if you try to think about it. They give you that sense of accomplishment if ever you reach one. Keep your goals simple and attainable at first so you won’t get frustrated easily. Increase the “level” of each goal as you move forward to challenge yourself. 2. Keep it fun – Find a sport or activity that you really enjoy. You can use this to vary your routine every now and then. If you feel like your daily trip to the gym is bringing you down then try out that sport you have always wanted. You might even discover your hidden talents this way. 3. Make the physical activity part of your daily routine – Most of the people who have quit their fitness program usually use the “I don’t have time for it anymore” excuse more often than not. To counter this, you should find a way to slip in any form of physical activity throughout the day. For example, you can use the stairs instead of the elevator when going shopping or when at work. Do strength training or pedal a stationary bike while watching TV at night. 4. Put it on paper – Sometimes, what we just need is a constant reminder of why we are doing our fitness programs. To remedy this, you might want to write a fitness diary. Include the reasons why you are doing it and how are you faring so far. Be as personal as possible because you might want to read back on the entries every now and then for the extra motivation. 5. Keep a company – If possible, don’t exercise alone. Invite people close to you to join in on your fitness program. You can play sports with your kids or your partner. Having people you know near you when you exercise gives you a reason to keep on doing it. 6. Reward yourself – Don’t forget to reward yourself should you reach a certain goal. Don’t just focus on the material things as you can reward yourself a massage after a long week of strenuous exercise or a relaxing weekend to top off a very hectic week. 7. Be flexible – Lastly, don’t push yourself too much just because. Always realize that you should be able to adjust as much as possible even if it means taking a day or two off to rest up. Always remember that it doesn’t hurt to rest but you should focus on going back on track as soon as possible.

History Established in 2003.

Ten years ago on January 30, 2003, we opened the doors to The Arena Club. We had a vision for a full-service, total health and wellness facility that would change the lives of community members in Harford County. We imagined a place that would encompass total wellness for all ages, health status, and walks of life. It's wild that ten years later, we're there. From children to seniors, from athletes to those with disabilities, we have the facility and resources to help everyone achieve their goals, no matter what they are.
