James 1:22 ____________________________________________________________________________ 1 John 5:2-3 ___________________________________________________________________________

In each verse we have seen that He expects us to be obedient only because He told us to obey. According to1 Timothy 6:14, to what extent should we be obedient?

__________________________________________________________________________________________

If we should obey Him “without spot or blame” then we should be obedient with a sincere heart simply because He as asked it of us, without trying to get something for doing it. He can not be manipulated by our obedience.

How do we become obedient?

In today’s world it is not easy to be obedient because we must change or do things that cost us. There are four steps necessary to achieve an obedient life. In the following verses find the first step (or principle) to be obedient: Psalm 119:9, 11 ________________________________________________________________________

Psalm 119:73 ____________________________________________________________________________ Psalm 119:129 __________________________________________________________________________

The first step is the need to know and understand the commands. We must grow more in the knowledge of the Word in order to understand what He wants us to do. Most Christians do not know the Ten Commandments. Did you know that there are 364+ commands in the NT for us to obey? To study one command a daily command see “Truths to Live By” at www.tgcresources.com or a complete list of a study of each of the NT Commands go to www.branchespublications.com. Can you see the importance of being in a church that teaches the Bible?

James 1:22, But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. 1 Jn 5:2-3, By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep His commandments. 3 For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome. 1 Tim 6:14, that you keep this commandment without spot, blameless until our Lord Jesus Christ’s appearing, Psalm 119:9, How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to Your word. Psalm 119:11, Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You. Psalm 119:73, Your hands have made me and fashioned me; Give me understanding, that I may learn Your commandments. Psalm 119:129, Your testimonies are wonderful; Therefore my soul keeps them.
