Heath DYER

A versatile athlete, Heath joined the Golden Eagles in 2010 and spent his first season as a redshirt...a defensive back with good size and quickness...lining up at the rover position and listed second on the depth chart among returning players as camp opens...worked his way onto the fall semester Athletic Director’s Honor Roll. AT TECH (In 2010): Heath was a member of the scout team defensive secondary and worked on special teams during his redshirt season on the roster. HIGH SCHOOL: Heath was a five-year starter for coach Gary Sheppard at Clarksville Academy, and was a two-way starter for the Cougars...set the school passing record as a quarterback...also played cornerback... named all-state as a junior and all-region as a senior...versatile athlete, he also lettered in both baseball and basketball...two-time all-area pick as a shooting guard on thebasketball team...named all-conference while filling the shortsop position on the diamond. PERSONAL: Heath is the son of Ray and Donna Dyer...birthdate is August 28, 1991...full name is Heath Spencer Dyer...majoring in prepharmacy.

Marcus EDWARDS

Marcus emerged as one of the outstanding defensive players on the team and within the Ohio Valley Conference in 2010, and should be a leader in his junior season...the OVC leader in quarterback sacks as a sophomore...opened the year as a “Bandit” but moved to the “Bear” position and should see loads of playing time at the key position...has excellent quickness and exhibits an explosive pass rushing ability... runs to the ball well...brings good strength to the field through hard work in the weight room...made a career of being around the football during his high school career and has shown that same reputation in the first two seasons of his college career...physical and aggressive player who will stand out on special teams in kick coverage...received public commendation (along with teammate DeShawn Harris) from Cookeville and TTU Police Departments for helping to apprehend theft suspect during the spring...potential to be a post-season candidate for honors. AT TECH (In 2010): Marcus saw extensive action in all 11 games as a sophomore, including one start at Austin Peay...made 15 solo tackles and assisted on 14 to finish with 29 total tackles...had 9.0 tackles-forloss for 49 yards to rank second on the team and 15th in the OVC...led Tech and topped the OVC with 7.5 quarterback sacks for 46 yards... made career-high seven tackles against eastern Illinois inluding 4.5 quarterbak sacks for 31 yards...named OVC Defensive Player of the Week following his efforts against the Panthers, and also received National Player of the Week nod...had five stops against UT Martin including three tackles-for-loss and two sacks. (In 2009): Played in nine games as a true freshman...finished the year with 17 total tackles...career-best game included four tackles at Jacksonville State...had a quarterback sack and three tackles against Southeast Missouri. HIGH SCHOOL: Marcus finished his career at Thompson High School with 530 total tackles and 20 quarterback sacks...also forced 10 fumbles during his prep days...as a senior he was an All-Region selection and named the All-County Iron Man Award winner...chosen the Pat Patricks Player of the Week on his way to 211 total tackles and 10 quarterback sacks...also forced six fumbles, made three interceptions, blocked five field goals and one punt...lettered in four sports, including football, baseball, basketball and track & field. PERSONAL: The son of Morris Edwards and Lisa Kirkland...birthdate is March 4,1991...full name is Marcus Jameal Edwards...enrolled in general curriculum.
