Jason is expected to wage a fierce challenge for the day-to-day punting duties with Nick Campbell...enters his third season on the roster...joined the Golden Eagle program in 2008 after two seasons on the junior college level at Rochester (Minn.) Community College...strong leg...appeared to win the punting role in 2008 and did the kicking in the season opener, but injury forced him to miss the remainder of the season...return to action in 2009 and did the majority of the punting over the second half of the season...gives the Golden Eagles depth at that crucial position. AT TECH (In 2009): Jason shared the punting duties with Nick Campbell in 2009...posted a 37.7 yard average in 35 punts...downed 12 of his 35 kicks inside the 20-yard line...had a long of 69 yards at Eastern Illinois...had five kicks for an average of 50.8 yards at EIU... had nine punts and averaged 37.7 yards against Tennessee State... managed three kicks of 50 yards or better. (In 2008): Jason earned the starting role at punter, and kicked three times in the season opener against Gardner-Webb, averaging 31.3 per kick with a long of 40 yards...injured the following week and missed the remaining 11 games. Barry is a strong and physical player who gives the Golden Eagles quality depth at the ram linebacker position...an exceptional, relentless pass rusher, he could also line up at the bear outside linebacker position in passing situations...gained experience as a freshman and fueled his passion for getting back on the field in 2010. AT TECH (In 2009): Barry played in six games as a true freshman, including the final three games of the year as an indication of his development...finished with eight tackles and one tackle-for-loss... stepped forward at Jacksonville State to make career-high five tackles against the Gamecocks. HIGH SCHOOL: Selected to play in the Gwinnett County All-Star game as a senior, he went on to be named the game’s Defensive MVP...first-team all-Gwinnett County selection at Collins High School, he was also a Class 7-5A all-region pick after piling up 88 total tackles and 11 tackles-for-loss...also had four quarterback sacks, caused two fumbles, recovered three fumbles and was credited with 20 quarterback pressures...also earned prep letters in basketball and track & field .
