Coaching Staff

The 2011 season saw a solid Golden Eagle team do what they’ve done over the last two seasons — compete near the top of the Ohio Valley Conference standings. The season may not have gone exactly the way TTU would have liked, but 25 wins is by no means a bad showing for a team that was picked to finish third in the OVC before the season began.

2012 Golden Eagles 2011 Season in Review Tradition of Excellence

Archer The 2011 season culminated with Tech’s fourth straight appearance in the OVC Tournament,

where the Golden Eagles fought it out in a trio of competitive games. Sophomore Tristan Archer, who finished the season with a team-high seven wins, saved his best performance for last as he threw 7.1 strong innings, notching six strikeouts, as held Eastern Kentucky to three runs, two earned. Junior Cullen Park came on in relief and shut the door for his fourth save on the season to give Tech the 6-5 victory. TTU’s second round game proved even more competitive as junior Nick Price and junior Matthew Shepherd combined for eight strikeouts, while giving up just two runs in TTU’s 2-1 loss to Austin Peay. Southeast Missouri then ended the Golden Eagle season with a 6-1 victory in Tech’s third game of the tournament. TTU opened the season going against some of the best teams the NCAA has to offer, but things began to take off for the Golden Eagles as they swept former OVC foe Youngstown State in a three game series. The Golden Eagle bats came alive against the Penguins as TTU tallied 28 runs in three games, with

Stephens senior Chad Oberacker driving in seven runs on eight hits. Oberacker, the OVC Preseason Player of the Year, was one of the main sparks on the team, as he contributed on the mound, in the field and at the plate. Oberacker finished his season near the top of several offensive categories, which included a .325 batting average, 10 home runs and 48 RBI.
