Gravatt

Director of Basketball Operations First Season Missouri (‘10)

A native of Lee’s Summit, Mo., JD Gravatt is in his first season as the Director of Basketball Operations for the Tennessee Tech women’s basketball team. Gravatt is responsible for team travel, film editing/exchange, Director of Summer Camps/Clinics, special events and fundraising along with overseeing team managers. “This is a great opportunity for me,” Gravatt said. I am honored to be a part of such a great coaching staff, and I am excited to be a Golden Eagle!” Gravatt most recently was a Graduate Assistant at the University of Missouri for two season with the women’s basketball team where he assisted the coaching staff with practices, film breakdown, camps, clinics, and other day-to-day operations including recruiting, and scouting. Prior to Missouri, Gravatt served as the Director of Basketball Operations for the Florida Atlantic University women’s basketball team where he was responsible for the oversight of all the student support staff.

While an undergrad at Florida Atlantic, Gravatt served as a student-assistant for the men’s basketball team. Gravatt assisted with practice drills, over saw film exchange, and maintained the teams recruiting database. Gravatt earned his bachelors degree in 2008 from Florida Atlantic University in Sociology, and is just one class shy from graduating next spring with his Master’s in Sports Psychology from the University of Missouri. “We are excited to have the experience, and dedication JD brings to the staff,” head coach Sytia Messer said. “JD has a tremendous work ethic and a very bright future in this business.” On August 10th, 2010, J.D. became an uncle when his older sister Cheyne Gravatt gave birth to the newest member of their family, Bella. J.D. also has a younger brother Chance. Parents are Liana Gravatt and Sam Gravatt.

Gravatt also oversaw travel plans, film exchange, and scouting reports. During his one year on the Florida Atlantic women’s staff he played an important part with on campus recruiting, and helped FAU bring in the number 69 ranked class in America, which is the highest in FAU history.
