It’s Latke Time! Cost: $10 per dozen Deadline: December 8 Pickup date: December 18 Hanukkah is coming and it is almost latke time! Would you love to take some latkes home to enjoy with your family during Hanukkah? Now is your chance! We are taking orders of Hanukkah latkes, made by TriCounty Regional Vocational Technical High School, to be picked up at Religious School Sunday, December 18th. Brotherhood Beer Tasting & Menorah Assembly Night Sunday, December 11 7:00 - 8:30 pm at Temple Building Believe it or not, Hanukkah is right around the corner, which means we need to assemble the Temple’s menorah. This year, we are planning to do this on Sunday, December 11th at 7pm and of course have our annual Beer night after the assembly. We will be sending out an Evite to remind everyone and to get RSVP’s as we need to know how much beer to buy. Also, since it’s early enough, we can do “take out” if you wish. Cost will be about $10 each to pay for the beer. If you have a favorite beer, feel free to bring it! Just let me know so we don’t purchase the same beer. If you make your own beer, feel free to bring it as well. Since it is a work night, we’ll probably leave around 9pm (the latest). Any questions, please email Stewart Lipson or call 508-446-1298.

Through your generosity, we distributed turkeys and fixings to 200 families. We will also be able to provide each family with one item to help cook the meal. We will have foil roasting pans, pot holders, turkey basters and potato mashers to choose from. Last year when we offered these items it brought a lot of big smiles! There are so many small things that become luxuries in difficult times.

JFS Programs ‘Mark*’ is a curious, smart and good-humored seven year old who looks forward to a Big Brother match. He is in the second grade and says his favorite subject is art. He lives with his mom, who is dealing with chronic health challenges and who has limited family and community supports. Mark spends much of his outside-of-school time at home, watching television and playing video games. Mark says he enjoys spending time outside but doesn’t regularly have the opportunity to do it. He looks forward to going to the playground, fishing, playing soccer, baseball and visiting the zoo.

Ideal Big Brother is energetic and mature (someone in his 30s-50s would be a good fit for Mark), living in proximity to Franklin/Holliston and open to being matched to a nonJewish child. Do you or does someone you know have a few hours a month to make a huge difference in the life of another person? Jewish Big Brothers Big Sisters (JBBBS) is in need of volunteers! JBBBS has 35 children in need of a mentor and 52 adults with disabilities on the waiting list. If your family or someone you know needs assistance in giving Hanukkah gifts to children under 13, please be in touch with Jewish Family Services of Metrowest. The program is anonymous (to all volunteer shoppers) and can help provide coats, hats, gloves, boots, clothes, toys, games and gear for families in need. To benefit from it, please contact Stephanie Rohr at srohr@jfsmw.org or (508) 875-3100, ext. 380 or Marissa Zwelling at ext. 250. All it takes is a short phone call regarding the requests and a contact number to let the family know when they can pick up the items.

For more information, contact JBBBS Community Organizer, Lily Siegel: lily@jbbbs.org; 617-558-6549. *Name changed to preserve confidentiality
