Fingerstyle guitar virtuoso Chris Proctor will return to Tehachapi for a matinee performance in Fiddlers Crossing on Sunday, Oct. 6. Proctor has previously played for the Bear Valley Cultural Arts Association, to rave reviews from all who heard him. Critics have called his guitar playing “breathtaking,” “haunting,” and “elegant.” Proctor is a national champion in fingerstyle guitar, blending elements of jazz, Celtic, old-time, pop, and classical music with a dash of blues thrown in for good measure. In his concerts, he ranges from his own compositions to traditional tunes and covers of such pop standards as “Knights in White Satin” and “Paint it Black.” He somehow makes his single six- or 12-string guitar sound like a full orchestra. With 10 CDs and several instructional videos and DVDs to his credit, this consummate pro is sought after for workshops and clinics. Proctor lives in Utah, but once traveled around the West giving clinics for Taylor Guitars, including regular appearances in the former Buskers Music Store in Bakersfield.
