ELECTED OFFICER COMMITTEE From the Constitution: “35.1 Unless the Trustees determine otherwise, the Elected Officer Committee shall be made up of the Officer Trustees. 35.2 The Elected Officer Committee's responsibility shall not include the duties of the Trustees as set out in clause 31, but shall include representation and campaigning work and the implementation of Policy save in so far as these responsibilities have not been delegated to another committee. 35.3 The Chief Executive and the Union's management team may attend meetings of the Elected Officer Committee at the request of the Elected Officer Committee. 35.4 The Elected Officer Committee shall meet in accordance with the Byelaws. For the avoidance of doubt, a meeting of the Elected Officer Committee shall not constitute a meeting of the CIO Members or the Board of Trustees.”

The role of the Elected Officer Committee is to:

Develop the Students’ Union’s campaign priorities and provide progress reports on campaign activity Ensure that action is taken on mandates received by the Committee from Student Representative Forum and Student Members Consider appeals as detailed in the Societies and Student Groups byelaw and in relation to the representation and campaigning work of the Students’ Union

The Elected Officer Committee shall be constituted as follows:

The three Officer Trustees The Chief Executive or their deputy shall attend in an advisory non-voting capacity The quorum of Elected Officer Committee shall be at least two Officer Trustees

Proceedings of the Committee

The Committee shall meet three times each semester The Committee shall be chaired by an Officer Trustee elected by the members of the Committee at the first meeting of the academic year The Committee may elect an acting chair from its membership if the Chair is unable to attend its meetings. Where a member of the Elected Officer Committee has an interest in an item for consideration before the Elected Officer Committee they shall declare that interest and shall not be allowed to vote.

Reports and papers

4.1

The Officer Trustees will formally approve a report of their combined annual campaign priorities and campaign plan at the first meeting of the academic year The Officer Trustees will formally approve at subsequent meetings their updated campaign plans showing progress made since the last meeting and work planned The campaign priorities, campaign plan and updates against the plan shall be published on the Students’ Union website no less than five (5) working days after ratification by the Committee The Officer Trustees will supply progress reports on mandates received from Student Representative Forum and Student members as required

Minutes of the Committee’s previous meeting and a list of all actions set by Elected Officer Committee since the previous meeting. Any other papers and papers requested by the Committee or referred by other bodies of the Students’ Union. Papers shall be made available to the Committee Chair no less than five (5) working days before the meeting, unless the Chair agrees otherwise. Minutes of the meeting will be taken and shall be published on the TUSU website within 5 University days of them being ratified by the Committee

Committee shall have the power to:

Consider comments and proposed changes to the referendum wording from Student Members. Publish notes of the Committee’s decisions on any changes in the wording of the Referendum. Call a Student Members Meeting Provide reports to the Trustee Board Provide reports to the Student Representative Forum Refer any matters within its responsibility to the University or other appropriate body where this is deemed necessary by the Committee
